Hi again! No Water before and after eating is VERY important from what I hear. Call your doctor tomorrow for more info on that and the Ibuprophen - I'm sure they can tell you what to take instead of it. Good luck. Jenn

How much did you lose pre-op or have you lost pre-op?

I lost 14 lbs in 14 days preop and was THRILLED. It's been 18 days since my surgery and I'm down another 10lbs! Yippie! It's a great jump start as I know soon I will only lose 6 - 10 lbs a month. I'm walking 2 miles a day EVERYDAY and I think that is a big help. 70 more pounds to go! Good luck to you. -
What kind of fluids are you having and are you exercising? After my surgery I only had Water for 6 days as I wasn't hungry. (I wouldn't recommend this as I ended up being dizzy) I also walked 1 - 2 miles a day, everyday. Keeping busy helped and the exercise did too. Make sure you're intaking low calorie/card fluids. Hang in there and it WILL WORK for you. I'm 3 weeks post surgery and have lost 22 lbs since I started my presurgery liquid diet. I think exercise had a LOT to do with it. Good luck. Jenn

I just paid $17,000. In St. Petersburg, FL Dr. Rehnke $10K for the hospital (overnight) $5K for surgeon $1K for surgeon who oversaw $1K for anesthesiologist I was told the lapband itself costed about $4K - I assume I bought that from the hospital. This includes all post op testing and monthly dr visits and fills for 1 year. It's a lot of money but I believe it will be worth it. HOPE so! I've lost 25 lbs in 3 weeks - 70 more pounds to go! Jenn

I was walking a mile + the day after the surgery and now am doing at least 2 miles a day EVERYDAY. I'm 3 weeks post surgery. I'd like to get back to yoga but don't feel ready. I was told 4 - 6 weeks after before starting anything more than walking. Good luck. Jenn

I was given the following 10 rules: No more than 3 meals a day; eat slowly and chew thoroughly; stop eating as soon as you feel full; do not drink while you're eating; (30 min prior to meal and 1 hour after) do not eat between meals; eat only good quality foods; (organic fruits/veggys and grass fed meat) avoid fibrous foods; drink enough Water a day; (1 gallon) drink only non-calorie liquids; and EXERCISE at least 30 minutes a day EVERYDAY. I am 3 weeks out and 25 lbs thinner. I have 70lbs more to go. Good luck! Jenn

Will my head ever adjust to the size of my stomach?
JennJones replied to Rockin' Robyn's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I just got banded a couple of weeks ago. I'm doing great and still on liquids but I was wondering about WINE and food. I assumed when I went out I could have one or the other but not both as we're not supposed to drink with food. Is this the case???? -

Did your insurance pay for the removal of your band? I was self pay and wonder what would happen if that happened to me. Will you do the lap band again? Are you glad you did it? Jennifer -

I lost 14 lbs in 14 days on Optifast. I was thrilled. I'm 2 weeks out (today) and have lost another 8. 70 more pounds to GO!!!!!!!!!! I wonder how long that will take. I heard 8 - 12 lbs a week. Does that sound about right? -

I went in on a Tuesday (1/31/06) and was out Wednesday afternoon. I was tired & sore on Wednesday but by Thursday I was up and walking 2 miles a day. I went back to work on Monday and was exhausted after a day of work. I skipped walking that day but have walked 2+ miles everyday since. My surgery & recovery went well. I'm so glad I did it. Best of luck to you. Jenn
