WOW I wish my dr did an xray or something lol I have had my band for over 3 months and he has never even checked it. I asked several times shouldnt you check my band with an xray and he says only If i have a problem also my dr does not do fills a nurse does. Also he sent me home the same day of surgery lol Sounds like you have a good careful dr. I would at least like to see my band in an xray I wish my dr would at least do that

Thanks for this article :tongue2: I agree it is way to expensive to get a fill that only takes 30 seconds. I was actually wondering the same thing why cant I just fill myself. I dont know if I would actually try to do it because Im a scardy cat but Its good you found out how and it works for you :wink5: Good luck on your weight loss!!! :smile2:

i was banded july 16th I have 5cc and lost about 29 pounds all together :mad2: my BMI is on the low side so the weight is leaving slower. I still need I think one more fill to be at my sweet spot. congrats on your progress!!!

oh I have an Ideal you can call your dr office and ask what type of band does he use on his patients also ask if he fills the band during surgery or if its empty when he places it. Just act like your a new patient needing info :mad2:

ugh I hate drs like this!! my dr said that now most drs in the US use the 10cc band. the new one. when I want to know the fill amount the nurse does not like to tell me because she thinks we will become mental about it you know like say I only have 1cc she thinks if I know this I will tell myself I need another fill when really I dont you know make things up in my head.. I dont know if this is true or not but I know when I am hungry lol

Ok so its been 3 months and 2 weeks since my surgery :redface: I have to say I have not lost alot of weight since the surgery either.. But no worries I know it will go.. So before the surgery I lost about 10 pounds on the pre op and since the surgery I have lost about 19 pounds so around 30 pounds all together which really with my BMI is pretty good :thumbup: an average of 10 pounds per month :thumbup: Ok so after my surgery I lost I think 10 pounds on the post op liquid diet then I did not loose anything for 1 whole month of doing all I was supposed to do. So I have to say I have slacked.. I am eating much less but eating anythning I want really. No diet. I guess its the stress of my life right now. But I think I could be loosing more weight it I would watch wat I eat. Although I do not agree with this carb free sugar free mess. I do think we all never to cut back on sweets and anything high calorie but to say no carbs and no sugar is setting you up to fail and i dont believe this is healthy. Anyways right now I have 5cc in my 10cc band and I feel i need another fill.. I got into an argument with the checkout person at the office so now I am looking for a new fill doctor :thumbup: she was rude!! Well I just wanted to post a little update.. although its hard and sometimes i get discouraged I always try to remind myself this weight will be gone sooner than later so dont stress if its taking a while!! :thumbup:

hey Im in alex... I had my surgery in lafayette on july 16th.. who did your surgery? cunningham did mine

well just ask yourself this... do you eat alot? If not then no dont get the surgery.. It seems to me your doing good without it. If you try to go on a diet and cant and eat way to much then the surgery will help if not skip it because its not magic and its hard work almost like not having it at all.

I was banded on JUly 16th 08 and I have lost 20 pounds post op and 10 pounds pre op liquid diet so about 30 all together:) Its been slow for me but my dr keeps reminding me the less you have to loose the slower it will go. So try to stay positive :thumbup:

HI I had my surgery July 16th with dr cunningham in lafayette,la... and I have to say I would NOT recomment it :thumbup: They are not very nice they take there time very slow with paper work and they only seem to care about money. They will take ur fills very very very slow in my opinion just to make extra money also they always seem to have an attitude. Although I do like dr cunningham and think hes a good dr. He has a Very diff personality though. So I would not recomment the southwest medical center in lafayette... skip over chu, cunningham and stevens I hope I helped!!!

well im doing ok but not so great....ive lost 26 pounds since my preop diet. so only 16 since my surgery on july 16th so 2 1/2 months out. I think because my doctors only gave me 2 fills at 1cc each so I dont have much restriction :eek: so I am sure my band will work I guess it will just work slooooooooooow :scared2: congrats on ur weight loss!!!!! :w00t:

Hi I will be having surgery in the South West Medical center in lafayette,la with Dr. Cunningham. I am curious about others experiences with the hospital staff and doctors. How long does it take after the insurance approval usually for them to get the surgery schduled. Also if they filed your insurance for you how long did it take? I am a little woried about using them because they never return my phone calls and my Dr. Cunningham is not very nice. So I am worried but I am to far into it to change hospitals. Any personal experiences will help. Thanks :biggrin2:

Im in the same boat exercising everyday trying to follow the rules and loosing nothing!!!! I blame my dr for only giving 1cc fill and making me wait 1 whole month before another fill!!! I have only lost 13 pounds since the surgery :thumbup: I hope we will do better soon. So we can get out this bandster hell as you say lol

oh hun this is just the start!!! I stopped loosing 2 weeks after the surgery and I am now 2 months post op!!! It sucks... my dr is an idiot and he only does 1cc fills at a time.. I hope your dr is not like this or it will be a slooooow painful ride.. like im in now :thumbup:

OK so I am almost 2 months post op I have only had one fill of 1cc it did nothing!!!! I am getting frustrated and feeling like I wasted my time. I have only lost 10 lbs since surgery.. and no I am not going out and eating tons of crap. I am starving though... and I think its so stupid that I have only had one fill of 1cc. So what about you??? what did you have? Should I call around to other doctors to see if they will let me have a fill or what? Because if I have to wait 1 month for each fill of 1cc this will take forever!!!

i have a 10cc band and not only did he only give me 1 cc in the past 2 months he refuses to fill any earlier.. i have to wait exactly 1 month!!! ugh!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just got my first fill and it was at 6 weeks. The doctor said its not safe to have one before then.. so for 4 weeks i did not lose anything. I had my first fill on thurday and he would only put 1cc I was so mad but he said he had to be safe. So thats my experience with it. Dont worry get the surgery you will find someone to give u a fill. :smile:

oh wow well my doctor wouldnt give a feel until 6 weeks and then he only allowed me 1cc... I was mad!!! anyways dont worry this fill is probably only going to last so long and u will need another that seems pretty normal from what i notice.

Hi I had my surgery on july 16th and I have never vomited or slimed or pb. Nothing I am fine :biggrin: SO dont worry follow the rules and you should be fine.
