My surgery date is coming
LynnV1964 replied to CRD1981's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my initial consult with the surgeon, 2 weeks later did my labs and ekg and got a call to schedule right after that. ESG is not covered by insurance yet so it doesn’t require you jump they all the hoops of other procedures -
My surgery date is coming

The ESG I’m having is endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty. Pretty new but they do it endoscopiclly so no incisions. They make a sleeve of your stomach (like vsg) by placing a series of ditches to reduce the stomach size. -

What surgery are you having? I’m going ESG. Fortunately I only have a 2 day liquid diet pre op. -

Sounds like what my daughter is worried about for me! After hearing the whole diet progression she said you’ll be malnourished!! You hardly eat anything now! How little she pays attention! Lol! Partially true though....I used to be able to eat a lot then menopause hit a few years ago. I was ok the first 2 years and then it’s like....poof! 30 lbs appeared. ESG is 9/25 and I can’t wait!

How old were you when?
LynnV1964 replied to xoxococojay's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I will have my surgery 9/25....4 days before my 54th birthday! Never even contemplated it until this summer, as my weight was never in range to qualify for anything and I figured I could just lose weight as I always had. Menopause a few years back said Oh no you can’t!! Lol! I figure this is the kind of kick in the butt I need to jump start weight loss and good habits once and for all -

Which procedure are you having done? -
I know! Hope you get your date soon too! They were going to schedule me for 9/14 but that was1 day after the season opener for the Bengals (we have season tickets) and there was no way I was going to be on clear liquids during that game! Lol! 😂 The rest of the season....sure! But give me one last game. Priorities you know ...😝

Mine is September 25! 4 days before my birthday. Happy birthday to me!! 😃🎉 -
Congrats on getting scheduled! I feel your pain with the birthday thing....my ESG is scheduled for 9/25....my birthday is 9/29!

That’s right I forgot it was 9/5! Nice work! I need to do a better job of adjusting my diet now. Kind of in the mind set of my “ last time for this meal”...lol. Not a good idea. For the ESG the dr only requires a 2 day liquid diet before hand so it’s kind of up to me to make some changes now. Here’s another piece of the puzzle that will make this interesting.....my husband and I own a pizza shop and are just starting our food truck now! 🤣

Hate to hear of all the troubles with your daughter. You can do everything possible to raise them right but in the end they are going to do what they’re going to do! Facebook can be very annoying! I’m very picky of who u will “friend”. And if they get obnoxious....I drop them in a sec. Glad to hear you are dropping the weight! What did you have done?

So glad to hear all of these stories! Low BMI too...31. I’m 5’8” and204 lbs. My highest weight ever and boy does my body feel it! Plantar fasciitis, low energy, acid reflux, high blood pressure. Decided I’m too young to feel so old (I’m 53). Yo yo dieted since college and just can’t imagine going they that again. Having the ESG done 9/25 and cant wait! My husband is totally supportive(he had vsg a few years ago and has gained some back. Might help him reset his habits!). My daughter however thinks I’m crazy, that I don’t need it and will be malnourished. She thinks I barely eat anything as it is.....how wrong she is!!! Lol I think I’ll do well with the diet and rules after wards. I tend to be a rule follower in many areas....other areas not so much! Any tips for dealing with those who think it’s ridiculous to do surgery at a low BMI? Have yet to tell my parents and unsure of their reaction
