    Greek yogurt

Which salsa are you using? Does the tomato acidity bother you at all? I've been told that tomatoes are a common food not tolerated after VSG. I never thought of mixing in tuna with greek yogurt. I'll have to try that too... Thanks!

I tried another combination this morning and it was very good too. I put a wedged and peeled Bartlet pear into the yogurt. The only issue I'm having is eating it slow... )-: Edit: I actually think this is a better combination than with the apple wedges!

    Eating slowly

I've used their timer, but I wish it had a single chime or bell at the end of the 30 seconds for chewing. I hate having to stare at the app to know when I can swallow my mastication. I tend to want to do other things while eating. On the not-drinking after eating for 30 minutes, I've been setting the iPhone timer or asking Siri to set a 30-minute timer on my Apple Watch for that. Other than talking to my wrist, using Siri on my watch has been helpful.

    Eating slowly

I actually was going to start a new thread about this very subject. Thank you for starting it. I learned how to eat fast in Navy boot camp and have never looked back. Now, I have to force myself to eat slower and am looking for strategies on how to do that. So far, everyone's input is awesome! Thank you!
  5. You can do it! One fun thing that my mom taught me many. many years ago when I was not feeling well. What she would do is to make a two or three different flavor batches of jello and put them in a square or rectangular cake pan. After they have set, cut them into little cubes and serve all of the flavors at once. This way you have both a flavor and a color difference in your small portion-control container. My favorite combination was strawberry and lime. You could do this too with the ready-made jello cups. Just combine more than one flavor into your container.

What does your surgeon say about caffeine? I see you are over four years since surgery if your profile is correct. I learned at the seminar that caffeine is a diuretic (actually, I knew that already) and can irritate the new pouch. Since I am at risk for dehydration due to other medical conditions, it has been an easy decision to stay away from caffeine. I do give myself B-12 injections every two weeks. That really helps with my fatigue.

    Non Scale Victories

I actually have a medical restriction at work that states I am not allowed to use any ladders that are not rated for greater than 350 pounds. I always check to make sure it will hold me, but it is strange that it is a restriction on my record. When that is removed, it will be both an NSV and a scale victory!
  8. For me, I'm okay with the requirements set by my surgeon. Some say it takes 21 days to form a habit and for me it's repetition. Besides, the more I lose pre-op, the less I have to lose post-op, right?

I do not like headaches and I do not have them very often now that I am off of caffeine. I started my WLS journey back in March with surgeon #1 (I'm currently on surgeon #2) and learned at the introduction seminar that I would have to give up caffeine. At that time, I was a heavy caffeine drinker, having both iced tea and Monster Low-Carb energy drinks every day. It took about a week to get over the cold-turkey withdrawal headaches and about a month before I got over the cravings, especially when I was tired during the day.
  12. Try clicking on the TV icon at the bottom of the video. It will open the video in youtube instead of an embedded video here. I go to college and sometimes the material is embedded like this is and the sound does not work. By clicking on "watch on youtube.com" it works most of the time. Another thing to check is to see if you have the videos muted. Check the speaker icon next to the play arrow on the bottom left. Hover your mouse over the icon to see how loud the sound is or if it is muted. Last thing is to check if you have your sound turned all the way down... I had this problem, so this is a suggestion from experience... I spent about 20 minutes checking everything; restarting my computer; unplugging and replugging in my speakers; doing the two things I suggested above - only to find out that I had turned the sound all the way down... (-:
  13. Awesome transformation! Thank you very much for making this video. I am in the pre-op phase with all of my appointments scheduled. I have a very complex case due to previous abdominal surgeries, not related to weight loss. I'll be starting a thread like you have in a little while. I'm still nervous about talking about everything, especially my past. Thanks again and keep up the great work!
  14. I will have a 4-week low-calorie pre-op diet specifically geared toward liver shrinkage. Here are the requirements: Breakfast: 1 protein shake paired with fruit or vegetables Lunch: 1 protein shake paired with fruit or vegetables Snack: 1 low-fat dairy snack paired with fruit or vegetables Dinner: 3oz. lean protein, 1 serving whole grain, and vegetables Also, the dietician also said the protein shakes should contain: less than 200 calories greater than 25g protein less than 10g of sugar She specifically recommended Premier Protein shakes. I know they are less expensive other places, but I wanted to get the nutrition information to ensure they would meet the requirements. I have yet to try this brand, but chocolate is my favorite flavor of other brands, especially Adkins.

I looked at the Isopure website and the Lemon Green Tea has 73mg of caffeine in it. My dietician told me I cannot have caffeine. Is that what your team told you? Otherwise, this sounds like a great drink, albeit expensive per serving.

    Greek yogurt

I'm pre-op and adjusting to the pre-op diet. I absolutely hate greek yogurt! or so I thought I did... I had only tried the Chobani brand once or twice and could not finish the container. It tasted awful. At the store the other day, I decided to give it another try, but this time I tried Danon Lite & Fit Greek Non-Fat, strawberry flavor. I really like this. I eat it as a snack and sometimes use it as a dip for apple wedges. It is a nice combination.
