This is in no way meant to alarm you. I'm just stating what happened to me... Back in 2004, I started having pains similar to what you are describing. It radiated from my collar bone into my neck. I went to the doctor and he sent me to a specialist, who after some tests, found a small pulmonary embolism, a blood clot in my left lung. I was put on a blood thinner for six months. After the six months, they checked again and it had dissipated by itself. My bariatric surgeon has told me that pulmonary embolisms are a complication and that is why he will give the anti-blood clot medicine during my hospital stay and a prescription for when I go home. (I did not tell him that I had had one previously) Please call your doctor...

    Eating Disorder Post-Op VSG?

I understand. I believe you will find this experience much different than when you were anorexic. Follow the doctor's plan and you shall succeed!
  3. It gets better... Have you discussed your situation with your doctor? If I were feeling sick all the time, I'd be in the phone pronto with the doctor's office. There are many things that can cause nausea and most times it is easy to fix. It could also be an indication that something is wrong and you need to be seen. Please do not wait to contact your doctor...

    Eating Disorder Post-Op VSG?

Therapy has been helping me get out of my head when it comes to food. I go twice a week. I still drive by the places I used to eat and say to myself that stopping this one time will not hurt. The problem is my old eating habits are sitting there waiting to take over again. It is a slippery slope for me. I get stronger each day, but it is definitely a challenge. I'm learning to identify the triggers to my overeating and to my eating out. I've learned that the head hunger is stronger than the stomach (actual) hunger and it is evil! It is tempting me to go off of my pre-op diet. Stick with it! It will all work out, I promise.
  6. Correction on my surgery date: it is September 6th, not 4th. I'm currently doing the 4-week pre-op diet, limited to less than 800 calories with greater than 90g protein. I've got this!

do you have a vitamix? https://www.vitamix.com/us/en_us/Recipes/Tortilla-Soup?referer_st=&sc=recipe

This one is very tasty. You can use this recipe regardless of whether or not you have a Vitamix. You can cook the ingredients on the stove top and mix it in the blender to smooth it out.

Sorry, I got carried away about the recipe! But, thank you! I know you will also be very successful!

I do not have a vitamix, nor will I be buying one after seeing the price! Ooooof! I have a Kitchen Ninja system that works fine and yes, I can cook the soup without needing to run a mixer for 6-7 minutes to "heat" it up... Thanks for the recipe - I think I can modify that with foods I like and can eat. I appreciate it!

    Quotes & Inspiration

I found a new quote and added it to my signature. I really like this one... "Remember to recognize the small successes that you will have. Don't let the brightness of that big goal blind you to what happens on the way toward the goal. Meet one wave at a time and enjoy what progress you make." Lucille Ball

    Catheter duting surgery

I have been cath'd . I do not know what kind of adhesive they use for that thing but it took alcohol swabs to remove it. Adhesive remover did not work and it pulled each and every hair under it. The last time I went under, I asked them to shave my leg where they were going to put the stabilizer, but they just left it off. It was so much more comfortable that way, as long as the tube was not pulled by anything.

    Preop diet

Good luck! You've got this! It's going to be awesome! We cannot wait for an update... (-:
  13. Next Wednesday, August 1st, I have my upper endoscopy scheduled at 2:15 pm. I had a ride set up for that afternoon but now has fallen through. I was wondering if anyone knows anyone in the Salt Lake City area who would be able to pick me up from the University of Utah medical center and drop me off at my hotel a couple of miles away, please? I am willing to pay for their help and also to let them use my car for the transportation. Please send me a private message for my phone number and additional details, if you can help out. I really appreciate it! Thank you in advance! edit: public transportation such as a car service, Uber, Lyft, or the hotel shuttle service are not allowed...

    Migrating Pain Post Op

Radiating pain can also be caused by things moving around a bit after surgery. There could be a pocket of gas or fluid that eventually moves and something that was worked on moves too. This can cause a bit of discomfort. As you have said, it is always best to check with your doctor.
  15. Yes, the procedure went well. The ride situation went as planned. The only issue is the doctor is concerned with the size of my liver. He said it was pressing on my stomach, more so than normally. I had a couple of more tests done on Friday, August 3rd. I should find out this week if there is an issue with my liver, other than fatty liver disease. Thank you for asking!

    On to Purees, suggestions?

Here are some images from my bariatric binder that I was issued by my surgical team, mostly pertaining to Step 2: Pureed/Full Liquid post-op diet.
  17. I did a search for September surgeries and did not find one. I would not have started another thread had I see yours first. Yes, I'm September 6, 2018, barring any further issues with my liver. I'm hoping that the pre-op diet satisfactorily shrinks my liver and the blood flow is what it should be. I am on the pre-op diet for four-weeks too & very similar to yours. I'm limited to 800 calories per day, but I've been averaging about 700 so far. I set timers today to remind me to eat at specific intervals and I found that I'm not hungry in between. I am confident that I will make it, no problem! Good luck to you in your pre-op diet phase!

    *** September 2018 Sleevers ***

I've only been able to do anything with the tickers using the website, not the app. If you click on the "+Create" drop-down menu on the upper right side of the page, then click on "tickers," you are taken to the page where you can create them. Once you have one created that you want to display, click on "add to signature." (I think that is what the last step says...) Then, they show up in the signature. I just added the BMI one just to show how to do it...

good luck with everything you need to do during your pre-op phase. I just completed my appointments and now only have the pre-op diet to worry about. I have no more appointments (unless something happens with my CT scan and my liver...) until my surgery!
  20. It's an east coast grocery chain. I could not find a way to purchase it online.

    Decreased Libido after My VSG

This!!! I was on it for a few months back in the 1990s and it was so bad I would not even masturbate... Most SSRI medications have sexual side effects. Talk to your doctor about it. And, if he is only sticking around for the sex, are you sure he's the right guy?
  22. I have been told unofficially that my surgery date is September 4, 2018. I have my official pre-op appointment today at 11:30. Updates and my full story (that I have promised) once my surgery date is official. That should be at my appointment today.
