Scared about the unknown

59 is not too old. You could easily live another 30 years (or more). Do you know what you are afraid of or is it general anxiety? -

3 days post op

It does get better. I am one week ahead of you. For broth, one thing I did was have my husband go to the store and get just the broth from their homemade soup section. I then strained it to get out any little bits that made its way in. Soooo tasty. I actually started to feel hungry about day 6, but the shakes, broth and SF jello helped. I had surgery on Wed, went back to work on Monday (I work from home but it was a big mistake), and finally felt like myself yesterday (8 days out). Hopefully you will feel better in a few days. -
How long until pain after every bite goes away?
Jingle123423 posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi All- I have been cleared to start 3A of my post-op diet. Essentially its shakes, SF jello and now cottage cheese and refried beans. I seem to have pain after every bite. It only lasts about 3-5 seconds, but it is as the food hits the stomach. How long has this sensation lasted for some of the veterans? It's not fun, but I am grateful to have at least some food. Any feedback/insights are appreciated! -

I just reread the instructions and I can also have Tofu and ricotta. I wonder if those will be more mild. -
How long until pain after every bite goes away?

Really? Yep, this stage is 10 days, then 3B I can add scrambled eggs. Maybe I should go back to just the shakes. The pain is pretty uncomfortable. -

I'm curious about something. You keep saying 128 oz of water. Doesn't that depend on your size? I feel like that is soooooooo much. My NUT recommended 64-80 oz. I would never leave the bathroom. -

My doctor was crystal clear that drinking alcohol before 6 months post op can have very serious consequences (he would prefer 12 months). He said alcohol acts as an abrasive in the stomach and can wreak havoc on the skin around the staples. I wouldn't risk it. My anniversary is October 11th and I plan on going out, having something simple to eat (soup), but definitely NOT having any drinks.

Post op pain - be honest
Jingle123423 replied to tahoegirl96118's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It was bearable for sure, but the first three days sucked, but I was up and mobile the second day. Don't plan on driving though. I never suffered w my incisions (I am one week out). They are just now becoming itchy. -

I am a 45-year-old wife, mother of three, dog/cat mom, salesperson, genealogist, tree hugger, world traveler, bad joke teller, and Pearl Jam superfan. Apparently, I started talking about Pearl Jam as soon as I came out of anesthesia lol. -

I was also sleeved on 09/05 and It's been very miserable. Today is a bit better. I got through 90% of a shake, which is an improvement. I know it will get better. -

3 days out- how long before my stomach isn't completely pissed at me
Jingle123423 posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi All- Sorry to sound like a whiny baby, but I would love to hear from others (with the understanding that we are all different). I am 3 days out, and my stomach is understandably pissed. I can feel every drop of liquid that goes down. I also have been having a hell of a time getting my protein in. How long before your stomach didn't feel so angry? -

Don’t over pack! You most likely won’t use anything you bring!!

This is 100% true. With the exception of a nightgown, I did not use anything I packed. I was sleeved Wednesday. -
