Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies: POST-OP Discussion
ChellNC replied to Ylime's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hope this is okay to say here... Today was the first day I've actually worn a non-sports bra outside of the house since surgery. The band of the bra wasn't as tight so that made me happy. But the cups were way too big. The girls are going flat. Not sure what bra shopping is going to look like going forward. -
Thanks @AJP! I also have PCOS and weight clings to me like sand on a wet foot.

Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies: POST-OP Discussion
ChellNC replied to Ylime's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a little over 2 weeks post surgery. At this point, did anyone else experience pain in the upper left abdomen area? It isn't unbearable, it's just a constant ache. The pain is close to the largest incision and that was the one that was most painful right after surgery. Earlier this afternoon I messaged my doctor to see what he has to say about it. I'm just waiting for a response but thought I'd ask here if others experienced the same. -
Arthritis Meds. After Surgery

In 2 weeks I can start mine back and I'm still shocked at how well I'm doing without them. -
I'm a little over 2 weeks post and have lost 12 lbs. Anyone else getting discouraged when you see others have lost much more than you during the same timeframe? I know we're all different and that I shouldn't compare myself to anyone else but my brain likes to torment me sometimes.

Has anyone tried Neat meat replacement? I thought it would be good to try on the puree/soft food stage. -
Who is sick of purees? Some fresh ideas...

Have any of you tried Neat meat replacement? I've never tried it and honestly never wanted to before now. When I saw it at the store I thought it would be a good food for the puree/soft food stage. -
Is the hair loss noticeable to others? Or just when washing & styling your hair? I'm tempted to cut back on how many times a week I was mine & just use the dry shampoo.

Tomorrow I get to move on to puree/soft foods and I can't wait! Yesterday I bought a few things in preparation. Refried beans tomorrow night and I'm going to make the Ricotta bake this week. I'm so excited for some kind of food! Ha! -
Try the A2 milk. It is supposed to be easier on your stomach. I've not tried any of the commercial ones but we get some local and haven't had issues with it.

I love it, syncs to my Fitbit and takes the guess work out of getting my 64 oz per day Does it work well even if you don't have a Fitbit or any other type?

More than weight loss

You're welcome and thank you. -
How is it fighting it ? Do you have a fever ? And are you going to the doctors ? Pleas take care xoxo No fever. My nurse looked at it Thursday and she is the one who told me what it was. Sorry, I should have included that in my post. She said it's like when we get a splinter and stuff builds up around it since your body sees it as an invader of sorts. Thankfully that's the kind of reaction I'm having. It started oozing last weekend and the dr on call put me on antibiotics after I called about it. Thursday we were at the surgeon's office for my husband's follow-up. I asked to see my nurse while we were there just to get her opinion on it. I did NOT want to continue that terrible antibiotic if I didn't have to. You take care as well. xoxo

Different doctors and programs have different requirements. -
Glad its better now. I'm having issues with one of mine and thought it was infected too. Turns out my body just isn't happy with one of the stitches in there and is trying to fight it.

More than weight loss
ChellNC replied to Bluemoongoddess's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So sorry for your loss. Sounds like you are both mentally and physically prepared. I took 2 weeks off from work & just went back on Thursday. Even though I have a desk job also I wasn't able to last 8 hours. Hopefully by this coming Wednesday I will be able to. Wishing you a speedy recovery! -
Get a sports bra! You need a soft, comfortable one without underwires! That's one thing I wish I had realized before surgery.

The Bariastic app has worked great for me. My food scale is a huge help. I've been a water drinker for a while now so I've always got water with me. Not all doctors recommend it, but mine did - yesterday I received my medical alert bracelet. With RNY they suggest one to alert medical staff of no blind NG. Due to some severe allergies I should have gotten one years ago but I finally ordered it after surgery. When I came home from the hospital they sent some medicine cups with me so I could keep measuring out my 2 oz of water and protein shakes. Those were a huge help. That way I didn't have to use the measuring cup constantly. I ordered some plastic ones off of Amazon when my hospital ones started running low. Amazon Prime is awesome! I've also been ordered my protein shakes through them since we have a hard time finding these in local stores. If you have a Trader Joe's close to you check out their soups. Pre & post op I've enjoyed the roasted red pepper and tomato soup. Some people can't have tomato for a while after surgery but I've done well with it. If you take morning meds I highly suggest a pill carrier, especially if you work outside the home. Thursday was my first day back to work and since I was outside of my usual routine I almost forgot my morning meds. Since I have 6 or 7 I can't take them all at once now so I'm still learning the best timing to space them out.

They'll still go after it. The youngest sees anything new and has to tackle it. He's silly. I thought about putting it behind a door that is rarely closed. -
When I was a size 22/24 I was able to ride Disney roller coasters. But I don't know how theirs compare to other amusement parks. It is s terrible feeling not being able to fit into a ride. Soon you will no longer have to worry about that!

My gastric bypass was the same day as your surgery. Today was my first day back to work and I only lasted 4 hours. Tomorrow I'm shooting for 5-6 hours. This morning by the time I showered, got dressed and got inside my car I was already exhausted. It will take some time before we feel normal again. My doctor threatened to keep me out of work another week if I didn't do better at getting all my protein in. Boy is it hard but I'm trying. Hope you have a speedy recovery. -
One of my incisions is right at my bra line. I didn't realize they did them there. Anyway, I've worn a sports bra and that was comfortable. Tonight I tried on a regular bra & it didn't rub the incision but I think I'm going to stick with the sports bra a little longer. The incision at the bra line is infected. When I put on my regular bra tonight I was shocked at all the extra fabric in the cups. They have really shrunk!
