    Day 3 Post Op

Wow, you're doing great! That's awesome. I'm two weeks post-op and pills were my biggest challenge, too. Keep up the good work and have a speedy recovery!

    New member - 1 week post-op

Welcome! I'm just 2 weeks post-op and fairly new myself. I have found so much great information on these forums.

    Newbie

Total cost was about $12,500. My stress test was covered by insurance, I just had a $10 copay. My psych evaluation was $150. The nutrition seminar was $30.

Just noticed you're in Alabama. I got my surgery done at Brookwood in Birmingham, by Dr. Cameron Askew, just FYI.

    Newbie

It took about 5 or 6 weeks for me to go from consultation to surgery. I had to get a psych eval, stress test, nutrition seminar, and a 10 day liver shrink diet before surgery. My BMI was same as yours and my surgery date was July 11. Good luck on your journey!

    Surgery Today !

Best wishes on a speedy recovery! You're gonna do great!
  8. Another vote for Unjury unflavored. It's especially great in the pureed stage to mix in to foods like soup, puddings, etc. for extra protein. I also like to put their chicken soup flavor in some broth for a warm protein drink.

    Figuring out Vitamins

Yes, I take one Centrum with breakfast and one with dinner.

    Water related topic

If Crystal Light didn't count I'd never make my water goals! I drink 32 oz. of water and 32 oz. of Crystal Light every day. I really hate water.

    I feel scared and ashamed...

I understand your fear and shame. First, know that the surgery is very safe and you are in good hands. The surgical team and nursing staff know their stuff and they will take care of you. Second, trust that you are a courageous person to make the decision to have this surgery. It's not easy! But you have decided to take a proactive course to live a better, healthier life. That is something to be proud of. Best wishes on your surgery and recovery!

    Figuring out Vitamins

I tried BariActive capsules at first (they came free with my Nascobal) but they made me very nauseous. Switched to Centrum chewables and haven't had a problem.
  14. I'm sorry you've been feeling depressed. I've been down emotionally this week, too. I know it's normal after surgery but I already have depression so I try to be vigilant about not getting too down in the dumps. I've been keeping a journal and it seems to help a little, letting me vent about how overwhelmed I'm feeling. Please feel free to message me any time if you need to talk, @Letsgetgoing2018. We're in this together. <3
  15. I've lost 8 pounds since surgery on the 11th, which I'm happy with. I've stopped weighing myself every day so I don't get anxiety about it. Just focusing on getting my water and protein in, which I still am struggling with a bit. How about you?
  16. Hope it goes well for you! If you try some interesting recipes, let me know! I'm already getting bored.
  17. They did stay down, but I can't eat much of them, I think I can manage 2 oz. now, eaten really slowly. I definitely recommend adding something to make them more moist, like yogurt or low-fat mayo.

    Vitamins schedule

I am almost two weeks out from surgery so I'm still getting my vitamin schedule down. What I do is take my acid reducer, biotin, and Vitamin D first thing in the morning (all the pills are really small and give me no problem), first multi (I take Centrum Chewable) with breakfast, first 2 calcium chews at 10, another 2 calcium chews at 2, and my other multi with dinner. I use Nascobal as my Vitamin B so I just snort it once a week.
  19. I started pureed Friday and so far I've tried: Pureed canned chicken breast with a tiny bit of mayo (still a little dry for me) Pureed canned salmon with a tiny bit of mayo and dijon mustard (really good) Pureed egg salad with mayo, dijon, and squirt of pickle juice (so good) Mashed potatoes -- I made the mistake of pureeing them in the food processor and the texture is like wallpaper paste, lol The old standby cottage cheese I'm still eating soups (mostly tomato and red pepper bisque) with protein powder mixed in so I can get a little veggie.

    Had surgery today

Ha, that would have been the smart thing to do, wouldn't it? Fortunately, I haven't had a problem since that first pill. I was just feeling all good and stuff and then was miffed that I barfed up water!

Best way to introduce eggs into the diet

A friend who had gastric sleeve recommended finely pureed egg salad as my intro to eggs. I think I'm going to make a test batch tomorrow.
