  1. Thank you so much for this comment. This has really helped me. I have decided to go ahead with surgery and am in the preliminary discussions to move this forward. I am feeling very fearful, very worried about not having food to turn to and have never been so emotional. You are so right about food and how unhelpful and negative it has been. Hopefully I will finally find new and healthy ways of dealing with my emotions. It’s a very scary thought though.
  2. Congratulations on your amazing success!!! That’s so fantastic and you must feel amazing 😁 this is also so encouraging for me to hear and gives me much hope, as I am currently at about 330 lbs and am only 5’4” so have a lot of weight to lose! I have repeatedly tried and lost lots of weight but continually regain plus some, so am seeing no hope of improvement without surgery. I am currently on saxenda (daily injections) to help with appetite suppressing but it has done nothing but make me nauseated. So, surgery is really what needs to happen, just pretty anxious as it’s a big surgery and significant decision. I have been struggling with my weight since the age of 10 and I just turned 35, so I am really ready and need a significant change. My weight has been ruling my life and decisions for far too long. Thanks everyone for sharing your stories and success with your surgery. This very comforting!!
  3. It sounds like you have had great success and good work on your ongoing great attitude!! Thanks so much for your well wishes, that is really encouraging for me! 😁
  4. Thanks so much for sending this link through, that’s really interesting to watch and really explains how it all works :-)
  5. Your food does look pretty delicious and interesting to hear that people vary with how much they can eat and feel satisfied. Thanks so much for your time with sending through photos of what is a typical day of food for you, so helpful!!
  6. Thanks so much for sending through these photos of what you can eat, that’s so helpful and looks totally doable! Looks like you have some delicious meals too! It doesn’t look like it is too depriving either :-) thanks again!
  7. And love the fruits, veggies, fiber = great poo!! Ha ha!
  8. You have both provided much reassurance for sure about my concerns! Thanks so much and I am so relieved to hear this, as this was one of the things I was really concerned about. I love this forum, you are all so supportive and informative, couldn’t ask for more! I was feeling so alone with all of my struggles with obesity and considering surgery but this is no longer the case!
  9. Hi, I am considering having gastric sleeve surgery and am wondering if you get used to eating a reduced amount of food and how difficult it has been to adjust to this change. Also, I have heard you have bowel problems, is this true for many? Thanking you in advance!!
  10. Thanks for this heads up, sounds really challenging....I’m in Australia, so insurance may likely be different, as we are under universal health. Will see how I go, fingers crossed.
  11. Thanks for this information and that’s really good to know this. I have been struggling with binge eating for about 28 years and would say I am fully in recovery...I have been speaking to my therapist who is support of WLS but still not sure if it is the right path for me. Will continue to so research.
  12. Thanks for the advise, I certainly will ask about that :-)
  13. Thanks so much for this information, it is really helpful. It is also really reassuring that there is so much research on long term success with having weight loss surgery.
  14. Thanks so much for your comment, this is really helpful to read and reassuring. It’s great to hear that your urges to binge have decreased and yes, I can imagine that it has been challenging finding other ways to deal with your emotions, as no longer having food but yes, I’m sure it is a relief to now have an alternative. Therapy is definitely helpful and will certainly make sure I utilise this along the way. Thanks again :-)
  15. Hi, I’m considering having gastric sleeve surgery and am worried about the long term success rates. Can anyone please provide me with advice on this? Thanks!
