    Onederland by September - whose with me?

    Hi everyone, I'm so glad to have some other people involved in this, It always helps to have some inspiration/challenge from others. How is everyone doing so far? I had a doc appointment last week, and they decided NOT to give me a second fill as I was still steadily loosing. I am currently 10lbs away from being in onederland and I can almost taste it. Let me know how you are all doing!

    July Update/ New Goals

    So today is July 13th, and I had another appointment with Dr. Hess and with Wendy as well. I had lost another 14 lbs since I was last there on June 1st, a total of 34 since surgery and 50lbs since my first appointment with Dr. H back on January 10th. The appointment went well, I've lost around 31% of my excess body weight since surgery and the average person looses %40 one year post-op, so I'm way above that. Dr. Hess was very happy with me and thrilled with my loss - I'm such a "teachers pet" at times. We got my blood drawn today so they will make sure everything is all set, that I'm getting all the nutrients that I need etc. So that's good. My next appointment is in two months on Sept. 7th, but he said that if at anytime before then I feel as though I need a fill, that I can come in anytime, but that there really is no need to get one at this point. I'm still loosing at a good rate, and I don't want to mess with a good thing. So I found out Dr. Hess lives on St. Botolph Street - 195 I think he said, which is really close to my old apartment, which is so funny. He said he's lived there about 4 years so we were neighbors for a couple of years, which cracks me up. Then when I was leaving, Tony stopped me and said that he had said to Dr. H that I was looking so great, that he was going to have to ask me to marry him…and Dr. H replied, “Oh Tony, she’s out of your league”. So cute, that cracked me up. Okay so new goals: Get below 200 by my next appointment with Dr. Hess in 8 weeks Make a commitment to go to the gym AT LEAST 3 times per week Only give in to ONE sweet craving per week Stop eating when I start to feel full – no matter what Okay, that’s good for now

    April Bandits, It's July!!!!!!!

    Hey April crew - glad to see people are moving along and doing well. My weight loss has been good, but it has not been easy at all. I had my first fill about a month ago, and I swear it's gotten tighter as time has gone by. I feel like the amount I can eat is getting smaller and smaller - but the cravings certainly haven't gone away and I crave ice cream like crazy. My excercise schedule is still less than impressive, it's just really hard for me to stick to a schedule. I have to figure it out though. anyway, good luck to you all, keep up the good work.

    are you getting plenty of protien?? I find that when I am not really good about my protien intake I get really tired.

    Oh i'm so jealous that you got your second fill already. I could problably call and move my next appointment up, but I'm just going to try to work this fill as much as possible. I've been loosing around 2-3/lbs a weeks, so something must be working. Sometimes I think it is the head hunger that gets me more then actual hunger. deff keep in touch, you are soooo close to being under 200lbs, i bet you can almost taste it.

    First Fill, no restriction?

    Hi Bernadette, We were banded the same day! It looks like we are in similar boats, I had my first fill on June 1st and really don't feel a huge difference. In fact I swear i've gotten more hungry since getting the fill. My next appointment isnt until July 13th, which feels really far away, but I'm just trying to be good and yes, I slip every once in a while, but I try to just pick myself back up and not beat myself up about it too much. Good luck to you, i'm sure you will start to see the results as soon as you get the right amount of fills.

    Newly Banded from Boston

    Hey there - congrats on your recient surgery! I too live in Boston and was banded just over 6 weeks ago. A couple weeks out of surgery my hunger deff started to come back, but I just worked really hard to keep within the rules, knowing that once I get my fills it would start to change. Keep in mind that this time just after surgery isnt for weight loss, but to heal. Keep in touch.

    HEAD HUNGER THREAD-finguring it out

    Lins12, the only other thing I might try doing is instead of just writing what you ate in your journal, why not include how you were feeling when you ate as well? E.g. stressed, bored, nervous, etc. Maybe this will help you to see some patterns and figure out why you are eating what you are eating, and maybe then you can work on changing those habits. Bottom line, 39lbs is a great, you've just hit a little wall. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off and keep on going.

    June Goals

    Okay, so I managed to achieve all of my goals from last month except for the cooking one. But that's okay, as I looked through the reciepies, I found they were a bit more complicated then I had thought. So, goals this month: Current weight: 223 218 (6/10/06) 1. Get to 209 by my next appointment with Dr. H on July 13 2. Go to the gym at least 4/week and do at least 30 min per time 3. keep up water consumption 4. continue to track my food on sparkpeople.com

  20. I too am a self proclaimed rule follower. I didnt have much restriction a couple weeks out of surgery and every day has been a struggle for sure. I have somehow managed to loose 20 since surgery 5 weeks ago. I just got my first fill Thursday and am on liquids so it's hard to tell how much more restriction I have as of yet. Hoping I'll be able to tell a significant difference soon.
  21. Hi Kathi, I had my fill yesterday as well. My body deff feels different, like tighter in my chest, but I'm never sure if these feelings are just mental. Do you feel any restriction? I'm sure you will start loosing soon, good luck and keep us posted.

    April Bandits 2006 May talk

    Hi all - so I had my first fill yesterday, which was a bit more painful/uncomfortable then what I was expecting, but it was certainly doable. I'm back on liquids for a couple of days, which is no fun, but if it's what I have to do, i'll do it. I've not felt that great today, I think it's b/c my decrease in cal/prot intake, but i'll figure it out. NJ girl, thanks for the compliment, but the 40lbs has been since Jan. (20lbs pre-op, 20lbs since surgery.) Hope everyone is well.

    I’m readying Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides, who is the author of the Virgin Suicides. It’s a good book, but has taken me a while to get through b/c it’s hard to find time to sit down and read a book.

  25. Okay, So I thought a daily check-in thread might help me keep on track, and keep myself honest. I'm pre first fill and having some difficulties as I have little to no restriction. So I'm starting a thread were we put total calories, carbs, fat, Protein, Water and excercise for the day. Calories: 539 Carbs: 24 Fat: 15 Protein: 82 Water: 64oz+ Exercise: 60 min cardio: 600 calories burned
