HealthierME2018 reacted to Kay07 in Hard time
Whenever you feel discouraged by believing your weightloss is not as much as you think it should be, try to put it in perspective. Prior to this, have you ever lost 70lbs in 6 months? That's over 10lbs a month. That is phenomenal. YES some people lose weight faster. But also many lose weight slower.
I think many people have unrealistic expectations on how quickly they will lose the weight.
Remember, this decision has you 70lbs closer to a normal weight range, 70lbs closer to being healthy, and 70lbs safer from obesity complications. There is no negative feelings or disappointment to be had in that.

HealthierME2018 got a reaction from Jolexis in Most important..
I had awful gas pains in my neck & back from all of the air that goes into your body during the surgery. A Heating pad saved me with these pains, so did salonpas pads. I was surprised that with all of the reading & research I did months prior to surgery, I read nothing of people these pains, however after surgery I learned that these pains are very common after laparoscopic surgery. It lasted about a week for me but was more painful for me than my incisions (2 hernia repairs & gastric sleeve). Heating pad & salonpas saved me my first week.

PPmom- this is funny bc not only am I in the same boat as you but my numbers are exactly the same! I was 196, dropped to 194 for a day or two & for 3 weeks I was at 196. I don’t exercise (yet, I joined a new gym that opens in sept) . I was also sleeved In July. I just stick to the plan & keep doing what is recommended & finally the scale budged after 3 weeks & yesterday I was down to 192.5. The less weight you have to lose it will be harder/take longer. Just know if you’re doing what you’re supposed to then the scale/your body will eventually catch up!
Good luck

HealthierME2018 reacted to Sleeved Nurse in What is your most embarrassing NSV?
I don't have surgery until December, but thoroughly enjoy reading everyone's NSV or what NSV they can't wait for! I thought it would be fun to mix it up a bit and ask that we share our most private/embarrassing NSV or the ones we normally wouldn't tell anyone!
My two most private/embarrassing to admit NSV's will be: 1. Wiping with ease! 2. Grocery shopping without sweating like I have just worked out at the gym!

HealthierME2018 reacted to Matt Z in Has anyone tried any types of bread??
Once I was cleared for the "Try it and see" portion of my nutritional process, I've stayed away from typical white and wheat breads, opting for the super high grain count options, sucks it's more expensive, but I've had no issues from eating the good stuff. I use wraps more than bread now, specifically the Fiber one, 80 calorie vegetable wraps.

HealthierME2018 reacted to Letsgetgoing2018 in Surviving family gatherings and parties after WLS
Hi all. Today was a milestone for me. Had sleeve surgery July 10th and today was my first big family get together. Lots of family and food. I am proud of myself. Asked ahead of time for chicken and veges I could eat. Stayed away from hamburgers and hot dogs and birthday cake. Not easy but I did it.

Agreed. I bought a multi Vitamin Gummy & my nut had stated I shouldn’t take gummy bc we can’t break them down fully as well as they usually aren’t withholding the same amount of Vitamins as a regular capsule or Multivitamin pill -

Hi Jess. I had my sleeve done Monday 7/23. I still feel awful, I’m in a lot of pain & it still hurts to take in liquids. I couldn’t imagine going back to work same week, I have two weeks off.
I have full liquid diet for 3 weeks so what I have home is crystal light made up (it goes down easier than water) and pre made Protein Shakes (premier and ensure). Also have Tylenol, stool
Softeners and heating pad (has helped w back pain from laying /sitting so much). Best of luck to you.

HealthierME2018 got a reaction from roxanaadriz in Post Op - 2 days
I had hiatal hernia repair, umbilical hernia repair & gastric sleeve on 7/23, I’m in a lot of discomfort & having difficulty swallowing - dr just prescribed me levsin so we’ll see if that helps.
Wishing you a speedy recovery

HealthierME2018 got a reaction from Frustr8 in To tell or not to tell?
I would also recommend to tell your family. I didn’t at first , I only told them about two weeks prior to surgery but the reality is that you’ll need support (and an explanation of having only fluids for several weeks). I’m 4 days post op today & im glad the people close to me know. Good luck with whatever you decide.

HealthierME2018 got a reaction from AEdoesRnY in Time to be honest!!!
I find it so strange to learn how each doctor is so different with their pre-op diets. I do understand that every patient is different, but how doctors all differ so much boggles my mind. My doctor requires 1 week of liquid diet (clear liquids day before surgery). My meal plan that week is- 3 Protein Shakes , 64 oz Water, 1 yogurt (no chunks) and 1 sugar free Jello. I can add some broth if i want. my liquid diet starts on Monday.
I'm jealous that i cant have cheese or salad, or anything else!
Rant over, thanks

Wow!! It would be so much easier if I was allowed a meal in the evening.. evenings are harder than daytime. I’m a teacher so I am home all summer but I wish I would have done it during the school year as I would be too busy to think about food.

HealthierME2018 reacted to Sosewsue61 in Stigma with WLS
Oh eff them all......start asking them personal questions, shuts them up really fast - 'so how was your last appointment at the gyno?' (proctologist, prostrate exam, ear wax removal, root canal) 'how much money did your ex get in the divorce anyway? That much, huh?
Somehow weight issues get an open season on opinions that are no one's beeswax.

HealthierME2018 got a reaction from Ninarwiener in July Gastric Bypass?
I don’t think many of us on here do have liver problems. The point of the liquid diet is to shrink your liver prior to surgery so that it decreases the risk of complications. Your stomach and liver are very close (if not over lapping). The bigger you are, the bigger your liver is & longer you will need a liquid diet for.

HealthierME2018 reacted to xoxococojay in Experiences with Phentermine?
I did phentermine before surgery. I loved it. It worked really well for me.
However, when you stop taking it, you literally want to eat everything on planet earth in sight.

Have you tried any of the dehydrated cheese products? Moon Cheese, Whisps, Sonoma Creamery? They are delicious and are just pure cheese, so more Protein and few carbs.

HealthierME2018 reacted to Orchids&Dragons in Cheez its, my little snack
Jess, I think we have the same cheat DNA! Cheezits cannot come in my house! You're right, there ain't much that tastes better to me, either!
-
HealthierME2018 reacted to jess9395 in Cheez its, my little snack
Cheezits are my kryptonite. Total slider that I can eat WAY too much of.
So while Creek might prefer something that that “tastes a hell of a lot better” there ain’t much that tastes better to me. BUT they make me lose control and eat way too many carbs... make me crave more simple carbs and really throw off my plan. So they don’t come in my house. I can eat half a cookie or a couple bites of ice cream... but cheezits I can’t eat just one. I’ve given them up.
