Mary Jane is Legal Where I Live

With any luck the pain and nausea you will encounter is bare minimum. I only had pain meds (hospital given) and it was a non narcotic-tordol. I didn't take any pain meds when I got released. My nausea was almost non existent except during car rides. The patch they gave me lasted 3 days and I wore it 2, because it messed with my eyesight. But even that was OK.

    Hungry

If you eat too fast, that could cause overeating as well. I use a meal timer. 30 sec chew, 30 sec break. It has helped me so much, my food intake has decreased 1/2 - 1.5 oz per meal because I'm eating more slowly and consciously.

How long does the chest pain last?

Are you confusing "chest pain" with heart burn? Are you taking a daily PPI? During the first two weeks I had to get my surgeons Ok to take my prilosec twice a day. And adjusting the time made a the relief for my heart burn / chest pain. My first week at home I was slow with liquids- normal. But I did have to play around with water, add flavor, change temperatures (one day Rooney temp, next ice cold, next with ice) one I got the flavors and temp right it was much easier. I also lived on bone broth my first two weeks to get my protein because it hurt to drink protein shakes. The first 2-3 weeks your belly is definitely healing and needs time to adjust, don't forget you had a breathing tube during surgery and that also creates some irritation with fluids. Just take your time and try to stay hydrated followed by your protein.

    2 days post op

For me the secret with protein eaters is it has to be ice cold. Not icy, but really really cold. It took away that 'thick' whey feeling,
  5. Are you taking a daily PPI? I think I had a similar problem and when I took my prilosec it almost cleared up immediately

    Hungry

Are you drinking enough water? Are you chewing 30 times and waiting 30 seconds between bites?

    Health expert panel ranks diets

I think it depends on the individuals genetic make up or health conditions. The diet you list is great for my uterine fibroids, but bad for my hypothyroidism. Keto was great for my thyroid, bad for my fibroids. The only thing I know is when I eat gluten and carbs my body smells and I'm sluggish, so I HAVE to keep my total carbs below 30 / 20 net. Sugar below 15 for day, try to keep it at 10.

Not doing great in pre-op diet

Homemade bone broths are probably the least expensive. Cheap variety of veggies, chicken with bone in and a big / giant pot.... when it's done strain your soup, if you live alone, dump the veggies and chicken. If not... make chicken salad with chicken and soup with veggies for family. I think you have to look at total servings when it comes to powders vs. Pre mixed shakes to determine the most economical. Some powders can use water, makes it less expensive because no milk added. You really have to shop around, compare costs
  9. You may have to test your liquids for texture, flavor, temperature. I can tell you at almost 7 weeks post the temperature of my liquids changes often. It all depends on what my pouch accepts that day. At 4 days, it was taking me 3 hrs to finish a protein shake, and longer for water. I relied heavily on soup broths to get in my proteins.

Please give me your meal plan

My 7 weeks starts Monday, but I eat 4-6 small meals per day avg 100 cal per serving. I only have shakes now if I know I won't meet my protein goals or want to add some to my coffee (1/3 bottle with decaf coffee). 40cal, 10 gr protein My breakfast is often light and fit dannon yogurt 80cal, 13 g protein with 2 Tbsp of ground flax 70 cal Lunch Tuna creations 70 cal, 15 gr protein. 2 oz cottage cheese 40 cal, 8 gr protein 2nd lunch 2 oz deli turkey 12g protein cheese stick , 5 gr protein Dinner 2 oz chicken, 14 gr protein, cottage cheese 2oz 8 gr protein If I'm still short I add peanut butter or other high protein snack. I mix up my meals, but work day lunches tend to go tuna just because I don't have to measure. My daily cals are 600 - 700 pending day of week.

    Hungry

Are you eating too fast, drinking too soon before / after meals? What are you eating? I'm nearly 7 weeks and eating 3-4 oz meals (i.e breakfast today 2oz LF cottage cheese, 2 oz deli Turkey breasts). I'm also using a bariatric timer... it helped so much that I ended up eating 1.5 oz Turkey and ate all my cottage cheese. I am also drinking more than 64oz of water. With the timer and water, my hunger is sustained. If I think I'm hungry, I drink. If I'm still hungry I'll wait 30min and reassess. If hungry, I eat. If not... I continue to drink. I also eat 4-6 meals per day 2.5-3 hrs apart to ensure I'm getting all my protein upwards of 60g per day (yesterday got 83g) without the use if protein powders and shakes. I definitely feel restriction, I get not only full but if I over do it, I'm nauseated or will vomit.
  12. A timer definitely helps, but you must be true to it too.
  13. Never a more true statement. I should've listened to posts that said don't over buy... now I have a ton left over. Slowly, very slowly it's going away....

    Am I eating enough.

I am almost 7 weeks out and consume 600-700 cal a day. I only have a shake if I can't get my proteins in through food. Not sure how far along you are, but weight loss is not linear, it is more like a set of stairs. Lose a little, stop, lose, stop. Your primary focus should be on meeting your protein and water goals.

Not doing great in pre-op diet

I make my own, chicken soup with bone in chicken breast and every vegetable possible. When the chicken came out, I made chicken salad for family. Soup was strained and veggies served on the side (we've always done this, even prior to wls) To change up the flavor, change up the veggies

    Full liquids question.

Yes, the broth less the chunks is permitted.

    It's doable with bone broths.

    Tespo Bariatric Vitamins

I bought the chewable vitamins from the bp site. Tropical flavor.. I started them 2 weeks before surgery and am just about through with bottle #2. My surgeon stated at my 3 week visit I could stop the chewable, but would need vitamins for a minimum of 6 months. My next purchase from BP, is the capsules (one a day). I'll keep them going until I can go back to "normal"

    Quesiton about long term weight

Prior to surgery I had to have a BMR test... it turned out that my BMR was barely 1500kcal. (I should preface this with my NUT used the calculator and told me my cal should be around 1572) So when I thought I was supposed to lose weight, it was slowly creeping on. I was unintentionally over eating daily. I suppose post surgery it has gone down (my scale says its 1332), but I'm hoping once my weight loss stabilizes I'll be given another test to ensure my final Maintenance calories are appropriately lined for me.

My plan did count jello as clear
  21. @Spg - I 100% echo everything that @AshAsh1 has said. I think it's great that your plan will allow you to fastrack, but for me personally having that 6 months was truly the defining point. I got myself into a healthy mindset from the beginning of the year and was able to make an informed decision on whether surgery was right for me. Having read everything I could find on the internet to talking to different people in the same position. The more prepared you are both mentally and physically the easier the process will be for you. This is a lifelong decision and one that truly relies on you to be successful. Don't forget, you have a web full of supporters right here.

    Finding foods is hard

I've added high Fiber snacks back into my diet to help with this. My new go to - I add it to my daily cottage cheese to increase my protein and fiber Enlightened Plant Protein Gluten Free Roasted Broad (Fava) Bean Snack, Garlic and Onion also Raw Rev Glo Protein Bars, Creamy Peanut Butter & Sea Salt, 1.6 Ounce Bar (Pack of 12) 15g Protein, 2g Sugar, 14g Fiber, Keto-Friendly, Vegan, Plant-Based Protein, Gluten-Free Snack Bar https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071CPQFCH/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00PVS5PCE/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&th=1 or at night I'll indulge in a spoonful of peanut butter. But so far these three things have really helped me. I'm just 6.5 weeks out and my daily cal range between 600 - 700 depending on if I eat nuts or have protein shakes. If not, I really try to get my proteins in through strictly food. Additionally, I know it's OK to use protein shakes to count towards total fluids, but I do not. My decaf coffee and protein shakes are counted towards "meals" and not fluid. I also drink anywhere from 64 to 96 oz of (flavored) water per day

    Non Scale Victories

A couple of NSV this past week... 1. Fit into my old favorite bathing suits (size 12s & 14s) - Was able to retire my "new" big girl suits for my old fashionable ones 2. Bought a appropriate US size (#'d) Harley Davidson capris (reality, they were US size 12/14 - and must've been UK sizing) a couple years back and they never fit.... tried them on for giggles the other day and they buttoned 3. tried on a pair of old jean capri's today - haven't been able to wear in 3 years.... FIT....:D

    Starting weight 225 lbs

I had surgery on 8/20 - Op-day starting weight was 218 and currently down to 203 - In terms of goals, there's the one set for you by your surgeon and your own personal. I'm almost 1/2 to my surgeon's goal (down 33 total pounds) and I'm a 1/3 of the way to my personal goal. Just be sure to work with your NUT and surgeon to find the "right" weight for you.

    Being wasteful.......

I found that if they are super cold, the thick almost chalkiness goes away. But have to be colder than cold...it was the only way we could finally use them up
