    Liquid diet

It's temporary and it will subside. Stay strong, you've got this
  2. First of all, the decision to have surgery is all yours. It doesn't fall on your family, friends, etc. The success of the surgery is also all on you. You have to be both mentally and physically ready to make and accept the changes that are about to happen, understanding that the weight did not come on overnight and it will likely not be lost overnight as well. I had my surgery in the US, but I've read plenty of successful posts from those that have had their surgeries in the Mx. Whether you have surgery in the US or Mx there will be fears and worries associated with it. It's natural. Making sure you set yourself up for success after surgery is key. Find a support group that you can join and have some people to speak with prior to and post surgery for additional support. You have a whole online family of support as well. Whatever you choose, remember there are people behind you supporting you.

    Water

I've seen similar items for sale on Amazon and Ebay. They are great reminders, but you must be disciplined yourself to continue your drinking throughout the day.

    To much for a meal?

I was told through my plan that by 9mos out, my intake should be almost 1000kcal daily. So, two eggs and toast don't sound like a big meal by those standards. Additionally you cannot stretch your pouch. Your pouch can get accustomed to eating more by you grazing and overeating. But it will not physically stretch. If you feel like you are overeating you cal always do a pouch reset, which is basically going back to basics with your pre-op diet, then having nothing to eat on your "surgery" day and following your post op diet the next few days.

    1 week post op

Are you not eating / drinking broth? Drinking bone broth will give you your proteins and nearly as much if not more than a spoonful of yogurt. You should also check with your surgical team before changing up your diet. Just because it's feels fine, doesn't mean it is fine. Water helps the bowels move, Make sure you're meeting your water goals. That should be your number 1 focus followed by proteins.
  6. I got mine 2 days before surgery and it lasted 7 days post. It will be fine. Sucks, but it's OK. Now I'm back to "normal"

    Pre op Liquid Diet

Yes, I did, but I also had protein soup powders that I mixed in with the soup to ensure I was getting my daily nutrients in one source. I only used restaurant soups when I was traveling during one of my two week pre-op weeks.
  8. During the time leading up to surgery I had started the Keto Diet. - I personally loved it, I loved the way I felt everyday, unfortunately the high proteins from redmeat caused my uterine fibroids to return. And some of the items perfect for Keto - caused issues with my Hypothyroidism. But Keto wasn't all bad. - I learned that I had an intolerance to gluten. And in learning this, I found out how my body reacted and learned that is something that I cannot afford to have in the future. I also learned about my sugar intolerance as well as how much total carbs my body will accept before I stop losing weight. I had two weeks of a liquid pre-op diet. I over did it with protein shakes and come post op, the last thing I wanted was a protein shake. So, protein shakes are great meal replacements, but too many of them too soon just makes it harder post op. Learn to eat healthy ahead of time. Don't substitute shakes until you have to.

You don't need WLS just go on a diet!

I opted to tell exactly 4 people.... My mom, BF, Boss and best friend prior to surgery. I didn't want people knowing why I was out of the office (I only took a week off) and I didn't want snide comments. But what I've learned throughout this entire process is no one knows what you've been through, the struggles you've hit through weight loss, diets dietitians, etc. When I put on my final 50lbs and struggled for years to get it off, through pills, shots, seeing a registered dietitian and trying nearly ever fad diet in between, I decided to check out WLS as a last resort for me. When under the guidance of bariatric dietitian and still failing to lose weight at a normal pace (2lbs per week) - I finally agreed to the WLS. But what I learned about my body in those final 8 months before surgery is priceless. I also believe it set me up for success moving into WLS and the months following. I still haven't told anyone that I've had WLS, it's no one's business but my own. If people are "watching" me, they will see my diet has changed dramatically (not only portions) but what I actually put into my mouth. So it all plays a vital role in our success.

    Protein

It's best to follow the plan set forth by your surgical team. My clear liquids were for 1 day post op and then I was allowed to go to protein shakes. But personally I remained on bone broth because my new pouch tolerated it better than the shakes. Most importantly, listen to the plan outlined by your team.

    Anyone try Baritrack Vitamins

I have not. I use the Bariatric Pal Chewables and just upgraded myself to the daily capsules.

    Anyone regretting this?

get a water purifier pitcher, or leave water out over night open. it will clear up that metallic taste. And as many have mentioned, buy higher quality water. sorry on my mobile can't see where you are from, but the ones to stay away from... zeohyrhills, dasani, aquafina, Nestle. these are the least pure. try Niagara, Poland, Fiji, Voss. look for natural springs in your area where you can get your own water by filling jugs.
  13. at 6 weeks I was on a regular diet, just eating smaller than children's portions. I've just spent the last week at universal studios and survived eating within my dietary guidelines.

    Hot sauce junkies.

I would wait until you're fully healed as those hot sauces cause ulcers. Last thing you want is ulcers in your new tiny belly. I have always loved and tolerated all levels of heat, post surgery my belly is much more sensitive

    CBD oil

I use cbd cream all the time. love it, it does wonders for the skin
  16. With all of my surgeries, not once have I been conscious for the insertion of a catheter. It's usually given in the OP room and removed before you get to recovery
  17. Phone charger (if you bring your phone) chapstick (although the hospital gave me a goody bag which included it). Bring the bare minimum, comfy clothes there and for the return

    Weight Fluctuation Nightmare

Congratulations on the weight loss. There is no reason to become obsessed, just be mindful moving forward. Yes, our surgeries are a lifelong commitment, we've been given a tool to help us maintain and lose weight. It's up to us to follow through with thatevery day, it is a conscious effort. ,

    Should I buy a scale?

I get on my scale daily - I fight the urge not to.. I lose every day and the scale wins... it jumps .5 up - I fret, I slides .3 down - I jump for joy... the next day it jumps 2 and I cry... honestly you don't want the emotional roller coaster that goes with it. I have both an old digital scale and the new body fat one and I wish I didn't own either right now. You've got this... go with out. - You'll be happier in the long run. I leave for vacation tomorrow - 1 week scale free.... it will probably be my most successful post surgery week...

    October 2018 Sleevers

The first few days post surgery bone broth (hot bone broth) was all my pouch wanted. It's going to be a lot of trial and error, just take your time and experiment with what your pouch tells you is OK

    Should I buy a scale?

Being a scale owner I can tell you I obsess about the number. It's a terrible habit and for me almost impossible to break. I can tell you that when I was not a scale owner, I lost almost a 100lbs without surgery. I'm convinced now that a huge part of my success is because I didn't own a scale. I couldn't focus on the numbers. With so many post op appointments after surgery, you'll hear firsthand from your medical team how your progress is doing. If I had to do all over again, I'd throw out my scales....
  22. 9round was one of my favorite fitness places when I lived on the SC side of Charlotte. Plus the cost was economical. I moved to the Southwest side of Charlotte and the price is quite a bit more and hard to justify. I do have a monthly subscription to Planet Fitness and their Crossfit class is pretty awesome and almost as good as 9round. I lost huge inches with 9round in a short time. Good luck with them.

Broke up with bf over this surgery.

I can tell you from personal experience, the longer he stays - the more you will come to resent him and your relationship and more so the longer you allow him to stay, the harder it will be to get him to leave. You have to set a timeline and make sure he follows through.

    Calories???

my surgery was 8/20 - and I'm averaging between 600 - 700 daily and getting ready to bump to the 700 - 750 range. I've noticed when I stay on the higher end, the scale moves more. I also get all my proteins naturally. Very rarely do I supplement shakes.
