  1. I had surgery Monday. When I awoke, I wasn't in pain, but they gave me plenty of meds pre-op. The worst is the port where they pull your stomach through. I have tightness and low to moderate pain (maybe a 3) the has pains haven't been bad either. I was released at noon yesterday and haven't touched tylenol or the prescribed meds. I've had some difficulty breathing, taking nice deep breaths, but they give you breathing treatments and a spirometer to get your lunch capacity and breathing. Useit, it helps with the post op coughs and sneezes. ,

When did you start losing hair?

Genetics when it come to hair comes from your mother's father (maternal grandfather).

    Pre Op diet and tv

LOL. I totally understand! 6 mos ago this was all still a dream. My biggest fear was a lifetime of vitamins. Now I'm nervous and excited for tomorrow and the days that follow. You got this, 6 of 14 is almost halfway and it gets better. I found progresso soup chicken cheese enchilada soup, it was slightly spicy and flavorful. It was those soups that I normally don't eat that helped me through the 2 weeks.

    Pre Op diet and tv

It gets easier, I'm on my last day. I found getting creative with creamy soups made my cravings so much easier. I still drool over some commercials, but I know that soon enough I'll have my samplings. Tomorrow is my big day and 14 more days of liquid diets... honestly at this point I'd be happy for the pureed stage.

    Non Plain Water Drink Choices

I use sqwinchers zero (it's like a Gatorade or Powerade). And Gatorade now has Gatorade Zero. Also use Stur which has many flavors. Sugar free koolaid works too.
  7. I have a 3.4 QT I use for 3 people. It's a great investment. I don't always "cook" in mine, but use it a lot for reheating or cooking / heating frozen meals. It's worth every penny. Ours is used a minimum of 2 - 3 times a week. Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app
  8. Interesting that this soon post op you are at pureed stage. My surgery is on Monday and was told to expect another two weeks of liquid only Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app

    I Said I Wouldn't Do It....

Most fast food places post their nutritional information online. I'm neurotic enough that I scan the information before I order so I know what to expect when logging MFP also has them listed. Keep in mind fast food buns are loaded with carbs, sugar and kcals Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app

    I Said I Wouldn't Do It....

I use MFP off / on (more on) religiously as I pay for the premium services. My suggestion is to log and measure your food. Many items have hidden calories. Log your drinks too. I HAVE to measure to keep myself accountable and on track and when I do, I am successful, when I stop, I ultimately fail. Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Craving pizza

Check the ingredients of the cauliflower crust, in my experience many have alternative flours and are actually less healthy for you and are also higher in carbs than regular pizza dough. Additionally as many have stated pizza this early post op,probably not the best decision, think of your new stomach and the acid that comes with pizza sauce. You could be causing severe damage to your new healing belly Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app

    None of Your Business!

I understand your feelings, I'm feeling the same way. The only people that actually know are my bosses and my mom and BF. I'm personally not ready to share it with anyone outside this group and it's not even because I don't want to hear their opinions, it's my life, my body. I wouldn't be doing this if I haven't done my due diligence in research, followed every physicians orders and tried everything in my power to lose the weight on my own. When and if you're ready, that's when you share your personal stories

    August 2018 sleeve surgery!!

I just bought a pill crusher on Amazon to use post surgery for some of my daily meds. Have you tried that with a Tablespoon of applesauce? I forgot to mention, I just bought the chewables from from BP store.... they are pricey, but they actually taste good. I might suck up the price for awhile for that convenience

    August 2018 sleeve surgery!!

I buy them where ever they are the least expensive. I shop and shop until I'm sure I get the most value for my dollar

    August 2018 sleeve surgery!!

I heard Tums was a no-no because it's calcium carbonate vs. calcium citrate. Vitamins are outrageously expensive. I'm curious about the patch, (although I've been told that I can't use that until I'm about 3 months post surgery) It's so confusing!

When did you start losing hair?

I also think it falls into our genetic make up. I was losing significant hair up until I started my biotin regimen, it came from a combination of my thyroids and uterine fibroids then add the wrong nutrition value and you're a recipe for disaster.

    August 2018 sleeve surgery!!

LOL Marisol! You will be fine! Hey, don't forget the 5 second rule As for the cost, I think I've been very lucky because I've followed every step to a perfect "T" and I think part of my luck came from my previous PCP (who signed off on the surgery) was only ever concerned with my weight so, I had lots of history with failed weight loss attempts. By the time I came to my final conclusion to go forward with surgery, all the cards were laying right side up in front of the insurance company

When did you start losing hair?

That was one of my Pre-op questions in class the other day and the NP said that as long as you keep up on your protein, and take biotin, you should be lucky and not lose hair. Fortunately I've been on a biotin regimen for about 8 months now when I started Keto for fear of the same thing. Thank you for confirming what your nutritionist said.

    August 2018 sleeve surgery!!

I must have really good insurance (not bragging, still shocked), I was surprised it was covered and paid $40 for all my pre / post op Meds yesterday. I was expecting to use the emend coupon I found online and didn't need to.

    accountability partner

I find that MFP or similar apps keep me on track, I don't and haven't over eaten since I started using the app. My nutritionist requires me to log my meals and honestly I prefer to. I was doing keto prior to pre op and the app helped me discover what foods my body couldn't tolerate and what foods made me balloon up. Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app
