My doctor suggested two-weeks but when I told him my job was at a desk and I had the flexibility to walk, stretch use a stand-up desk he OK'd a return at 1 week. One of my colleagues is a corporate instructor and she took two-weeks, but wished for three. Said standing was difficult all day. My suggestion is to listen to your body. Only you know how your body will react to long standing / sitting, etc. at your work setting. Like you at day three I was probably feeling much like you and thinking that returning at the one week mark seemed foolish, but I can tell you from my own experience that each day got a little easier and I felt a little more together and stronger. Today is my first day back, I won't work a 10-hour day like my I did prior to, but I will work a normal workday and (2.5 hrs to go). Good luck with your decision and remember we are all here to help and support you

3 days post op, could eat a horse.
MargoCL replied to Tim84's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
As many have said, I'd contact your Dr., and find out what can be done. We are all on many different plans and mine has be restricted to full liquids 2 weeks post op (1 down, 1 to go). Although I am counting down the days to some soft scrambled eggs. -
Congratulations! Just remember to take it one day at a time.

Are you passing gas, have you had a BM? If I'm bloated (gassy) I will weigh more. Also if you haven't had a BM that could be some of your issue. Consider taking some Milk of Magnesia (approved by your Dr., of course). My post-op paperwork is contradictory, but before I was discharged and on my surgery follow up call from the Nurse I was reminded that the most important thing to do right now is get your fluids in. Protein is important, but not as important as remaining hydrated. I like you am struggling with liquids. But what seems to work is homemade chicken bone broth (heavy on protein) and good source of water too. I haven't tried warm tea yet, but that will be my next go to on the liquid front to hopefully add some extra liquids into my routine. Good luck to you and remember you have a whole team of experts and supporters here to help.

Which premier clear are you using? I but the tropical punch and even before surgery it was going down like a brick. I hate to make such a big investment in the product only to find the other flavors are hitting me the same way

Does my pouch need stretched by the dr?
MargoCL replied to Dfox1984's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was just rereading my paperwork last night and I read that 1/4 cup for the first three months is pretty normal, then move to 1/3 cup. I think just don't over do it, listen to your body it knows best. -
it took me a few days before my body would allow me water of any sort also. Just try a little every day.

I enjoy the premier protein - pre mixed, but have also purchased powder form.

Like you, I am definitely a planner. I made sure to try all the premier protein shakes, buy enough of everything to get me through my first two weeks post op (I'm 1 week post currently) and my words of advice are simple. Don't spend a lot of money. Everything I liked prior to surgery, I am struggling with post. Nothing tastes the same and it was days before that changed, but even more so - I suddenly can't tolerate anything cold or even room temperature. So, the only thing working for me in homemade bone broth soup. I can sip and it doesn't bother me and sit in me like a brick. Popsicles are just now becoming a friend and jello is squish around in my mouth until it becomes warm liquid. Try things, but don't go overboard in the purchasing. - I read someone's post that said similar but I didn't listen. Oh how I wish I did. The good news is that most of the stuff has a long shelf life, so it will be there as I go through many of my new stages with food reintroduction.

I received this patch for my surgery. Wasn't expecting it as I don't have issues. But I'll say it worked great. The only down side, it messed with my near vision. I felt like an old lady having to increase the font size on my phone to see / read anything. And it was a good day and half after removing it that my vision finally corrected. But nausea I did not have.

You are absolutely correct. No one diet is right or wrong. As a firm believer in Keto (for myself) it did not work 100% on me. But what I did learn from it was that my body is very much gluten intolerant and my body starves for proteins and veggies. The overall problem for me and why it didn't work was I not only have Uterine Fibroids but I also have Hypothyroidism. What works for one condition is counter-conductive to the other. Meat proteins and estrogen grow fibroids. A plant based diet is not good for hypothyroidism. It was a lose-lose situation for me. Hence the final decision to have the surgery. I'm hoping my new stomach will serve a vessel that will nourish my body and continue to teach me what works and doesn't work all the while losing the weight I've been struggling with.

My surgery was on the 20th. I was initially told to be there at 530 a.m. for a 730 a.m. surgery. However the Friday before I got a call and was told to be there at 430 a.m. - It's a safe bet that they will call a day in advance if anything has changed.
-
Yes, it's from all the fluids and CO2 they give you. Once you pass your surgery gas and have your first BM you'll start noticing the change. Do not get discouraged, and remember the weight did not appear in one day, it won't be gone in one either.

Ok so is there a time limit on when you can fly after surgery?
MargoCL replied to Lillytan's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
With the VSG, I was told two weeks. But I would check with your surgeon. -
I'm 6 days out (8/20) and I experience that pain when I drink cool liquids. When it happens, I start walking right away and try to form a burp, seems to help. So far warm liquids is the only thing truly tolerable.

Irregular menstruation after gastric sleeve surgery
MargoCL replied to Beltran01's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for this post... mine started 2 days b4 surgery (8/20) and it's still going on. I'm hoping it's just the stress of the surgery and everything as this is the longest it's lasted in 10 years. -
I have strange rashes at times and my derm actually suggested washing my body with dandruff shampoo 1 - 2 times per week. It works, rash gone.

5 Weeks post-op, what can I do to stave off hair loss?
MargoCL replied to Russ D's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My Dr., PA, NUT and nearly every other medical professional has recommended biotin and an increase in protein. I started biotin early this year with my Keto diet and my hair has never been more healthy. It is going to remain my go to until someone medically tells me not to. -
When did you start losing hair?

Unexpectedly needing to care for yourself after surgery?
MargoCL replied to ChellNC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I cared for myself this week. It wasn't terrible. Honestly the only help I needed was having someone rub my back to help with burping -
My Nutritionist said no directly post op, but I would be able to consider them about 6 months post op. (4 days post op now)

What does a protein shake feel like after sleeve?
MargoCL replied to jultrim18's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am 4 days post op and today is the first day that my protein shake is going down easy. I can still feel the cool liquid flow down through my esophagus but it gets better and easier each day -
I am now 3 days post op and cut myself off of all pain meds on day 1 at discharge. I feel tightness near the incision where stomach was pulled through, but each day it has been less and less painful. I'm struggling with protein / water intake. I haven't found a comfortable temperature for swallowing. Right now I feel everything I swallow. Gas pains are easing up, my sense of smell has heightened, I smell everything...I am still quite swollen, but getting up / down is getting more easy
