50g: The most protein I've found in any drink so far
MargoCL replied to Born in Missouri's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I didn't think they were the same. But I also wasn't 100% sure. Thanks for clarifying -
I would definitely try the dating services. I can tell you from personal experience that I was not lucky on Match or eHarmony. Both had a lot of "fake" profiles and if you pay for the service and happen to respond to one of these "fake" profiles and want a refund, they will not refund you. Not knowing where you live, eHarmony could've been OK but everyone was really far away, no one in my area (NC). I actually met my current BF (of 3 years) on Tinder and was lucky on Plenty of Fish. Don't be afraid to try as many dating sites as you can to find which one has the right "feel" for you. Good luck in your new journey.

50g: The most protein I've found in any drink so far
MargoCL replied to Born in Missouri's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I don't see whey protein isolate as a main ingredient. It shows milk protein concentrate (is that the same thing?) I also see corn starch as one of the sugars added. the serving size in 1 cup which only provides 20G of protein where the whole bottle offers 50g. It sounds interesting, but I think for myself, I'd check with my NUT and see if it's an acceptable product. -
Feeling resentful, missing my favorite foods
MargoCL replied to rs's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Oh No! I'm so sorry to hear this. I'm sure you've heard this already but there is nothing more important than getting your fluids in no matter how hard it is. I hope you get to feeling better soon. -
My boyfriend and I thought about telling his parents and he debated it on his last visit home. But then his mother made a comment about her niece's sister'n'law and having WLS and she was so cruel and ignorant about it that my BF opted to keep it between us. I told him after her told me this that his family was probably the only people that I really didn't want to share this with. Nothing good can come of it. And the way I see it, it's not a lie to say I'm on a medically approved and monitored eating plan. - His mother is 5' and weighs 80lbs soaking wet and has pretty much her entire life.

it's still early, I'm only 3 weeks. LOL. I'm sure if I go out to dinner or something with a new group there will be questions. I guess my first true test will either be this weekend with in-laws to be (they are super watchful and judgmental about food) or at the end of the month when we have a department meeting that I catered. LOL

I told exactly 4 people. My mom and boyfriend, my boss and my best friend at work. I wanted to keep it very private, I didn't want to answer questions or receive criticism before hand. If in a year people ask how I lost the weight I may be open about it, but right now I'm just following my plan and no one seems to be questioning my "new" eating habits. Plus 2 oz spread out on a plate looks like much more than it seems.

How old were you when?
MargoCL replied to xoxococojay's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
2.5 weeks past my 46th birthday. I was a typical yo-yo dieter and at my highest weight 280 when I was 27-28, I was able to lose the weight (120lbs) naturally. I kept the weight off mostly (+/- 20lbs) and then in the last three years weight has crept back up and losing it naturally hasn't work. I used to hear once you get into your 40's the weight is harder to come off. I never believed it until these last couple of years and the struggles I've had with trying to lose it. Best decision I ever made. -
You look great!

I was told no. I'd follow up with your team / NUT because everyone's plan is different

Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies: POST-OP Discussion
MargoCL replied to Ylime's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not sure I miss the caffeine as much as I miss the flavor of coffee. I will admit there are days when I'm dragging and a good cup of coffee would surely do the trick. There is a green tea I enjoy, but it does not say "caffeine free" so I've stay cleared of it for now. Water is becoming my best friend. LOL -

from what I've read on many of the posts a lot of people reintroduce caffeine back into their lives. At which point it appears to be all over the board. -
Feeling resentful, missing my favorite foods
MargoCL replied to rs's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Why would you not be able to enjoy going out again? It's actually one of the many things I'm am looking forward to. My boyfriend and I used to share meals and then one day we stopped. I look forward to the day when we can go out to eat multiple times a month for the same price as going out to eat once or twice because we can share a meal. Also, why are you not enjoying making dinner for the family? It's a true pleasure of mine to cook / bake and the fact that I can't overly indulge in everything they can doesn't bother me, because I know that in time I'll be able to enjoy the same meal again but in much smaller portions. Being left out bothers me, I'd rather sit at the dinner table with my family and sip my soup (or whatever) then not be there to watch them enjoying a family meal without me. I was reminded last night that I need to cut my cooking portions because my intake is severely less than the others and I can't expect them to "always" eat the leftovers for days beyond days because my intake is so much smaller. I thought about it and agreed, I was still cooking like I could eat a full meal when in fact I now eat 1/4 if not less than the servings that I ate prior to. so my portion is a 4-day portion now. I don't mind leftovers, but I don't want the same meal for 4-days either. -
How long should I pause between sips?

my heartburn subsided in the middle of week 2. It gets better. -
Oh No, I'm sorry about the staple. I hope that's been resolved. I had should pain for my first week post op and it was definitely gas. I would rub it (like a soft massage) and the gas would slowly escape and I'd feel better. I'm sorry you are experiencing this, hope it gets better.

Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies: POST-OP Discussion
MargoCL replied to Ylime's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Both have caffeine and in some cases tea has more caffeine than coffee. I was told I need to restrict caffeine for a minimum of 6 months post op. I am now 1 month without caffeine and miss it terribly, but I'd rather follow the rules than possibly cause stalls that I could've avoided. -

I could feel the food stop and I just couldn't take another bite even if I wanted to. The last bite probably did me in and I measure my food for every meal at 2oz, sometimes 2.5 if I add humus (exception water & shakes; either 11oz premade or 8oz almond milk and scoop of protein powder). That blockage was there for at least 30 minutes if not longer. needless to say I did not crave food for hours. -

We've made one with almond flour, cream cheese, mozzarella and cheddar cheese. Our household each gets it's own personal size so we can add our own ingredients (sauce, pepperoni, etc)

Read the ingredients, I've found that some of those cauliflower crusts have rice flour, or other alternative flours which have equally as much if not more carbs. Check out Pinterest for keto pizza crusts which use some great alternatives and truly low carb pizza crusts

I'm 3 weeks post op, and I see the meats, but I see a greater portion of carb heavy and sugary foods. This looks like a red flag to me. And maybe it's the way the pictures were taken but it also looks like larger than avg. post op servings.

Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies: POST-OP Discussion
MargoCL replied to Ylime's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's all you can do. I've stalled as well, right after my 2 week post op. I'm down 10lbs from surgery, 25 from pre op. I'm not worried. Gained 2, down 1 of those two. I actually encountered my first true restriction yesterday and it taught me a valuable lesson. I'm just going to follow my plan and I know it will come off. The slower the better because it will last longer. I didn't gain my weight overnight, can't expect a surgery to be the miracle to remove overnight. It takes time and work. My "tool" will teach me to live a healthier life style. We have this! -

Make sure you are meeting your protein & water goals. Don't fret about the stall, you got this. -

How much fiber? I try to keep my carbs per meal less than 10 net carbs. Keeping my daily no more than 40 actual carbs per day. I avg at about 27 net carbs -
