3 Weeks Post Op. NEED HELP!!

In your post op diets, did they mention using ground flax seeds or refried beans? These are all excellent sources of fiber and will help with constipation without the use of stool softeners. I add ground flax to my yogurt daily and since I have I have a small BM nearly every day.

Post op pain - be honest

This was almost my experience exactly. I took 1 tylenol for a headache 4 days post op (more likely dehydration) but I refused pain meds because I wanted to take control of my pain and body and not mask anything. So glad I did because most of the time it was gas pains. Getting up and in /out of bed was rough, but found a small throw pillow and it became my best friend.

    November sleevers here

It's likely head hunger. Are you getting your minimum fluid intake? I notice when I drink less I want more food. So if I up my water, I'm less hungry. I may eat more often now, but my intake per meal is 2- 4 oz total. This process is all about learning how to eat, and listening to your body when it's full per meal. Lastly making sure you meet your protein and water goals.

    Bruising like crazy!

I am 4 weeks post and my lower belly has been bruised from week 1. When I had my post op I was told it was likely the injection site for the blood thinner. It's slowly clearing up, but bruising is about 5 inches in length and 2-3 inches wide

Im exhausted 11 days post-op need advice

400 cals was where I was at 11 days and I didn't have a lot of energy, but I was OK. I was at 450 cals at week 2. I returned to work on day 7 and it was a very slow week. By the end of week 2 I was feeling much better. Make sure you are meeting your protein goals and water goals and like many have said everyone heals differently, just listen to your body. You know it best. Don't over do it.

    You look amazing!

    Dizziness

Sounds like dehydration or BP. When I'm not getting enough water I get this way, I immediately stay drinking more anyway I can. Other, do you take BP meds? Do you check your bp regularly? They could need adjusting.

    Chewing

All my postop says 30 times and says to do for life. Hey, isn't that what we taught to do as kids to get the digestion process started in our mouths

    2-days post op - Meds?

Experiment with water testing what the right temperature is right for your new belly. I'm 4 weeks out and still have to change my temp, style every couple of days. Did your PPI come in pill or capsule? I use unsweetened applesauce (squeeze bottle) squeeze a little on tablespoon, empty capsule, cover with more applesauce. In minutes pain gone. The gas release you feel will likely last at least a week and just do what you need to to get it out. Walk, rub belly, back, shoulders.... it's likely still trapped from surgery. Good luck, I swear it gets easier

Who is sick of purees? Some fresh ideas...

Are you measuring your food? I use ramekins and both weigh and measure volume to ensure I don't over fill.

    Mental Hunger ☹️

Just drink lots of your fluids especially water to help with head hunger. I relied heavily on homemade bone broths and yes, it does get easier.
  13. I had to experiment with with water and fluids to find the right temp (even today 4 wk post). I was also given a prescription for prilosec with my surgery because heartburn is very common. Take it slow, experiment, and take your PPIs and know this too shall pass

I'm so sorry. I'm thinking of you and sending positive thoughts and prayers.

    Do you snack?

My medical team gave me my initial instructions 6-8 meals for liquid protein intake. During pureed phase 4 -6 meals During soft phase 4 - 5 meals. Solids 3 - 4 But my NUT has ALWAYS encourage 3 meals with 2 snacks focusing on protein first
  16. I would check with your surgical team because Tums was / is an absolute no-no for me. Even now 4 weeks post. I was given a PPI prescription which I take daily to help with heartburn

    Anyone scared

Yes, high winds are just reaching my area and rain off and on. Because the storm is moving so slow, it's just stationary and the worst for my area is yet to come (tonight through Monday). Glad we decided to stay local. Airport is limiting flights and would've hated to get stuck away from home. How are you holding up post op?

    Anyone scared

I'm like Frustr8, I'm very happy with my decision, I plan to treat my new belly the way it deserves and not by shoving crap down it as before. This is both a gift and a tool to turn things to a healthy way of life I also spent months researching wls before I went to my surgeon and then 7 more months while under his care evaluating if wls really right for me. When I finally made my decision (I should mention that I had completed all my necessary preop steps in first 3 months) I knew without a doubt this is what i wanted. Even now almost 4 weeks post, not once have i felt buyers remorse, every day I'm thankful for my new belly and I'm thankful for my body teaching me how to control my intake. Best decision of my life

    I’m starving

Yes, strain or just not est the chunks. You will be fine. I was nervous about it, but it was surprisingly easier than I ever would've imagined. It was postop on the same diet that got harder. If you can cook, then I really suggest homemade soups. I strain them anyway so taking contents out and serving separately has always been the norm and the protein from bone broths will help keep you feeling fuller.

    Pureed food ideas

I'm addicted to walmarts unsweetened organic applesauce. LOL. I thrive on my nightly TBS of peanutbutter. It's my favorite meal of the day usually.

    Pureed food ideas

That schedule sounds about right. And as good as a salad sounds, it will be a while before you get one. They are empty calories /fillers. You really need to focus on your protein intake alone with water

    Pureed food ideas

Experiment with water daily. It may be temperature, or texture tap vs. Bottled. Flavor vs plain. I'm almost at week 4 and my water intake changes every few days because I have to change it up to make my body accept

    Pureed food ideas

Have you checked the food and nutrition forum? There are some pureed ideas. Also, Pinterest. I ate a lot of soups, yogurts, scrambled eggs, cottage cheese and various stews. My favorite was zucchini stew.
