    I hate protein shakes

Oh no! I'm so sorry. Maybe you just need some water to get you going this morning? Thinking of you. Hope you feel better soon.

    No Protein

I made homemade bone broth soups then strained it. Keeping veggies, meats, etc separate (this is the way we eat soup anyway, so it wasn't a hassle). I also found that Amazon sells wonderslim products including bariwise. Both of which have shakes/pudding including jellos and soups mixes - the pudding mixes have been a huge help especially when I no longer can tolerate protein shakes. The BP store has protein soups which I mixed with canned soups to give a little more substance.

    Worried that I am failing

I think the most important thing it NOT to beat yourself up about it. Lots of times we eat because we're thirsty. Try keeping a flavored water nearby and sipping on that when you feel the urge to grab a jelly donut. Yesterday at work someone brought in my favorite local donuts and they looked fabulous. It took some will but I turned away and took a sip of my freshly made Hawaiian punch water (sugar free). I also find if I keep some nuts with me at all times it helps curb the hunger. Take 3-4 nuts (your choice) and chew them till they're much and for some reason that helps me with those tempting moments.

    Vitamins suggestions

I use the Bariatric chewables found through the BP store. Yes, they are pricey but it's a 1-shot deal. I hate swallowing pills so as much as I hate spending the money, it's one less hassle I have to deal with daily. I've heard some people take Flinstones chewables - 2 a day I think to meet the daily need for post op patients.

    Compression clothing?

Pretty much like a tighter shirt or leggings made of spandex. It just holds everything in just right. Think of workout clothes just a little tighter and lighter in material. I buy ladies camisoles always 1 size smaller to help suck things in. LOL.

    I hate protein shakes

I've started using wonderslim shakes/pudding meal replacement and bariwise pudding meal replacement. Protein is only 15g but it's a nice change from the protein shakes

    Post-Op Question

I also had my VSG on 8/20. Sounds like you're either eating too fast or the food is not moist enough. Are you still on pureed or transitioning to soft foods? Your symptoms sounds familiar and for me it was always one of the two I mentioned. As for your meds, have you tried to crush them and spread them out throughout the day? I take my PPI with a spoonful of applesauce... a little on the bottom of spoon, sprinkle med, top with my applesauce and it goes down like water. Are you supplementing shakes at least for your lack of protein intake? I've found wonderslim (available on amazon) has a great caramel chocolate pudding / shake and packs 15g of protein. Easy drinking or by the spoonful if you go pudding style.
  8. what doesn't work for you? I've been using it off / on for several years. The only time I stop is when I think I've found something better, but then always come back to MFP, the last time I upgraded to the premium edition. Which I love even more. Maybe I can help you figure it out. Do you only use it on your fire? Or do you use your phone too? You can also use it via PC

    Eating too fast

I found I did much better today. There's something about having a room full of people all eating fast that almost messes with your own mind to eat at their speeds. Today I concentrated on the food in front of me and did much better 20 minutes (but I didn't eat my full 3 oz either)
  10. I've used Mango in the past and have loved it. Now I use my Monthly cycle reminder app (Period Tracker). You can also use MFP as a reminder - I've switched some of my meal names to meds in the past. And set a reminder for those times.
  11. Mmmm... pickles.. I really miss salty pickles

    Where did/are having your surgery

I live in NC and had surgery here in Charlotte, NC at Presbyterian Hospital Main

    Compression clothing?

I've always worn compression clothing even prior to WLS. Just make sure it holds you and doesn't constrict you because you are still healing (I'm assuming).

    August 2018 sleeve surgery!!

It's perfectly natural to stall out. It's often around the time that we adjust our diets. I had a minor stall going from early week 2 into late 3 and it broke dropped 3 lbs and now it's kind of steady right there again. Just keep following your plan and the pounds will shed away.

how often were you told to eat

This is what my team suggested as well. However in my early stages my paperwork states 4-6 meals. (assuming that 1-2 of those are "snacks")

    August 2018 sleeve surgery!!

I am now 4 weeks post op and according to my plan, carbs (rice, pasta, breads) are a definite no-no. To the point my plan states to keep them at bay for at least 6-months. The only carbs I take in are yogurts, peanut butter, flax. My diet sticks with healthy fats, soft foods like tuna, cottage cheese, ricotta bake, etc. I won't say that I haven't slipped, but my slipping involves eating not to soft meats (chicken, turkey breast, pork roast and deli roast beefs). I've noticed if my fiber is not enough I don't lose weight as quickly. And when my water intake is greater than 80oz I lose quicker. But the restriction is definitely there. My body ALWAYS lets me know if I'm eating too fast or have eaten too much.
  17. You will feel it with Yogurt and cottage cheese too, not just chicken. (At least I do)
  18. This is really a personal decision. Everyone makes their choice for their reasons. The success rate of both surgeries these days are very similar. Have you discussed your concerns about either surgery with your surgeon? For me, I chose the sleeve because it's least invasive in terms of change to my anatomy. I personally believe that I am strong enough to maintain the healthy lifestyle required with the new tool / gift I've been given. I am 4-weeks post op and so far I've had zero regrets and few to no complications. I'd review every piece a literature available to you regarding the surgeries and ask the questions you are not sure of. I researched my options 6 months prior to seeing a Bariatric group to discuss surgery and even when I had my first appointment I was on the fence as to whether or not I wanted surgery or continue with medically supervised weightloss. But I've always known for me, the sleeve was going to be my choice.
  19. I took a small string pack full of items and brought no clothes other than what I wore (I had the items on less than an hour in total). I brought my phone and charger, but on surgery day I really didn't want to text or social media. I just wanted to focus on me and my well being. Post surgery, I can tell you I used my phone for probably 15 minutes in total and that's an over exaggeration because one of the meds given for nausea made my near vision a complete blur. I was content in the far too big surgical gown and surgical socks and happily trotted myself around the floor as many times as possible to help with gas pains and start my exercise regimen. When I wasn't walking, sleeping, I'd watch a little tv and go right back to sleep until someone woke me for breathing treatments, blood draws, or administering of meds. At discharge (36 hours later), the only thing I missed not bringing was a small pillow for my belly - and I was a little queasy on the ride home. At home, I relied heavily on homemade bone broth soups (strained) - my body only wanted hot drinks and it took me 2 days to drink my 1st protein shake and then it reduced for 6 hours, 3 hours, etc... I purchased 5 boxes of premier protein 1 week prior to surgery and still have 3 boxes. I also purchased 2 whey protein isolate bulk jars and both are still half full. Honestly, the more you bring to the hospital, the more you need to bring home. And post op, it's going to be a lot of trial and error to find out what your new belly likes and doesn't like. Spend money only on things you need to.

    Eating too fast

Thanks! I also realized I do much better when there are less people in the break room. I'm more conscious of my eating and taking my time.
  21. Hi Joey, welcome. It's still very early on and your body is still adjusting, I wouldn't worry too much about a 1lb gain in the short time since surgery. Your main focus should be on meeting your protein goals of 60 - 90 grams and water goals, minimum 64 oz - but ideally you probably want upwards of 100 + oz of water. In terms of water bottles minimum 4 - 6 16.9 bottles.

    The Fall

That's me everyday, even prior to WLS, my office heater is on nearly 360 days a year and I'm never warm enough. Although, I have noticed I'm a bit chillier now than I was pre surgery. UGH....

    The Fall

@GreenTealael- I'm a huge fan of Nutpods and I just spotted this one on Amazon too https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071WY281Q/ref=sspa_dk_detail_0?pd_rd_i=B071WY281Q&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_p=f52e26da-1287-4616-824b-efc564ff75a4&pf_rd_r=3EASE4XTAX6RGJE25SS1&pd_rd_wg=HtELb&pf_rd_s=desktop-dp-sims&pf_rd_t=40701&pd_rd_w=TneLl&pf_rd_i=desktop-dp-sims&pd_rd_r=5720069b-ba70-11e8-904f-c52a81cf973c&th=1
  24. Are you tracking your calories? Are you still following your diet plan? Are you exercising and getting enough water in? Most stalls happen initially while your body is adjusting to caloric intake changes then once it balances it the stall breaks. But you still have to continue to watch what you're eating, track what you're eating and exercise regularly. If you can provide us a little more information we may be able to help you a little better. Have you spoken with your nutritionist? If so, what is he / she saying?
