I found everything necessary for the pre-op portion, I took nutrition classes, psych eval, and the pre-op class. I can't tell you how many times I've referred to the paperwork given to my in my pre-op class because most of the time, the questions I had were right in front of me. No one can fully prepare you for the life change you are about to embark on, but having as much information as possible a head of time is priceless. I had all my paperwork saved in a 3-ring binder with notes, stickies and what not reminding me of things that could come up. My post-op appointments have been great as well, I walk in with a list of questions and if they don't address something on my list I go right through them with me. The more well versed you are the better prepared you are, but until the surgery happens, you still have no idea what you're in for. I am so thankful for the prep I received prior to surgery and the research I did on my own. I think my mindset and knowledge helped me stay focused and not go through some of the emotional roller coasters that others faced post surgery.

I was like that my first week for sure and into my second week as well. I would come home from work and take a 30-minute nap to get re-energized. As Matt noted, it does get better with time.

Intermittent Fasting Daily Menu/Results/Accountability

Congratulations on the weight loss so far. Thank you, thank you, thank you for posting the pics. Seeing the month over month progression is really helpful to me mentally. -
I am a huge fan of this stuff.... My mom works in the healthcare industry and her patients use this for bed sores, chaffing, etc. In the summer I've been known to get heat rashes and this clears it up before the day is out... I swear by the Coloplast cream products. It's like the movie "my big fat greek wedding" and the father says that he uses "windex" on everything... that's how I am with this cream. If a rash breaks out... I go to it. it's been my savior for years. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Coloplast-Baza-Protect-Skin-Protectant-Moisture-Barrier-Cream-5-Oz/48319341 I will forewarn you, if your skin is broken - it may sting at first, but it quickly goes away.

My experience so far with sleeve (6 weeks in)
MargoCL replied to jultrim18's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I think what a lot of us forget is hunger pains and hunger are not the same. One is fueled directly by hunger the other is likely thirst. When I feel hunger pains, I start to drink water and within 5 - 10 minutes my hunger has disappeared. If I can drink 20 oz of water within 3 hours of getting up - I am less hungry throughout the day. Add 40 oz and I'm barely hungry. I also keep a canister of mixed nuts near my office desk, if I feel like the water hasn't satisfied my hunger I take 4 - 6 nuts and eat them slowly. My hunger immediately goes away until I'm ready for my next actual meal. At home I substitute a spoonful of peanut butter or cottage cheese (whichever is in stock). -
I think that's where I was lucky, the household wanted to eat better as well. Now we eat a very low carb lifestyle and all of us are happier because of it.

Plug it into MFP and it will give you the breakdown.

Old Navy High waist Skinny jeans are great! (or just buy "tall) - -
I think you should definitely reach out to your surgical team. If you cannot keep foods down there may be something else going on. You shouldn't wait until it's too late.

Surgery is in 3 weeks and feeling very alone
MargoCL replied to amanda-xo's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@amanda-xo, you state you don't have supporters; have you told many people that you are having the surgery? For me, personally, I told 4 people - My BF (he lives with me), my mother, my boss, and one of my closest friends. I told my boss and friend because they are supportive and understanding and I knew they wouldn't look at me different "tomorrow". My BF and mother have been on this train with me since the idea first came to fruition. They have been my rocks and still are. They don't criticize me if I do something wrong and they don't correct me. They are there to allow me to make my choices, mistakes and hold my hand if needed. I'll add when I made the decision to have surgery, it was after years of failing at every option out there. Aside from finding someone in your inner circle to confide and trust in, reach out to local support groups for that one on one, and don't forget you have a wide web of support here. -
For me, when this happened it was usually the texture or temperature of what I was eating / drinking; drinking especially. I am 6 weeks post op and my body reacts differently nearly every day / week to the temperature of my liquids.. some days it has to be ice cold, others piping hot or even room temperature. This is all going to be trial an error as you move forward with your new pouch. And as @Danny Paul mentioned it could be how fast your ingesting what you eat. Take your time, download a meal timer to your phone and use it to time your chews and food in between. Remember just take your time. Lastly, are you on a PPI? I was on Prilosec for the first month to help with GERD. This could also be the case. If things don't get better, don't be afraid to reach out to your surgical team.

walk, walk and walk more... I also had my BF rub my back softly which helped the gas escape. And definitely listen to @Matt Z - Use the spirometer - it was a life saver

My initial thoughts on this was private, only a select few in that inner circle. As my weight loss progresses no one has asked what I'm doing different, although can clearly be seen that my portions have greatly reduced. Now, I feel I could change my mind and share my experiences. But, who knows until it happens. As for sharing on social media, not a chance. If I post updated pictures, so be it. But I'm not going to outright share my "story" with the world.

I should also mention that my goal is more than 60g of protein... so I try to hit that first, and the rest fall in line. -
Percentages of Protein Carbs, Fat

This is currently my macros for 6 weeks post op. My daily calories alternate between 600-700. I should mention my macros are approved by my surgical team. -
I would suggest contacting your surgeon. It could be an infection or something as simple as the latest cold / flu infecting most.

At each of my psych appointments including my NUT appointments I am asked about my support team. Maybe it's me, but I've been honest from the get go. My partner is my #1 support, he is the one I went to when I started to be serious about this journey. And when I finally decided he and I spoke of the after effects, changes, challenges, etc. And we would have to endure. If we hadn't been open and honest from the start, my success wouldn't be there. Because my food triggers were stress in the house, having his support was important to me. Now, I also know that success is all within me, but having people support and motivate you make it all the easier.

Going out to dinner has not at all been hindered for me since WLS. My BF and I used to share meals in the early stages of our relationship and somewhere we changed and started ordering our own. For us, it's like we're back to "dating" again and we once again share meals. It works out great because he has 3/4 of a meal while myself just 1/4 sometimes even much less. We also take advantage of discounts from Groupon and coupons very often making eating out much more affordable. Eating out should've be a chore or a disappointment. Look at the positives, the portion sizes are almost always enough for two - three meals and now you're actually getting your monies worth and not gaining the extra weight for it.

Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies: POST-OP Discussion
MargoCL replied to Ylime's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My entire life I've been a 38DD and I rarely ever lost weight in my breasts until WLS - I have gone down a cup size and two band sizes.... -
I think you answered your own question, "He has always told me he liked heavy women and when we are out together he doesn’t hide when he stares at other women" You're changing your body type for yourself and for health reasons. This is the new you. I think the two of you need counseling to find out if the "attraction" is still there. Sadly as @Matt Z stated "WLS is also known as the divorce surgery " - If this is a road you perhaps don't want to go down, it's better to seek counseling now then when it's too far gone. Be proud of yourself and your accomplishments. And when going out to eat at a fancier restaurant, order the meal of your choice and ask for a to-go box right away. Store 1/2 the meal for take home and eat what you can of the other 1/2. I'm sorry you are having to go through this, I pray it gets better.

I use the YunMai body scale and app which calculates everything everytime I weigh myself -
I bet. I had a small decorative pillow as my best friend for the first two weeks. It was there when I got up, turned in sleep, or whatever. Glad to hear it's much improved... it does get easier...
