    Vomiting 2 days post op

Amber, Naturally your going to be swollen from the trauma of surgery. For the first two days after surgery I didn't hardly touch anything. Felt so bad I did not want to. Make sure you are getting enough Water, you gotta have it. If you can't keep anything down by the third day, I would call the doctor. Keep us posted. Michael
  2. Nicole, Just be patient and try to get as much Water as you can stand. I was going through the same thing and yesterday my hunger returned. The swelling must have finally went down, cause now I am able to eat pudding and even some mashed potatoes. Just keep the water up and I promise the pressure will ease up. Just a word to the wise....last night while sleeping I turned over and layed on my port site. Took about 30 secs. for me to get up in pain. Took some pain meds and finished sleeping in the recliner. Might take up residence on it for a few days until it gets a little more healed. Michael

Banded July 28- in PAIN HELP

Suffering Stacy, I was banded on the 29th, and at first I thought I was gonna die. Today I am starting to feel better to the point where I want to go do something (ride my motorcycle), but that's probably not gonna happen. Luckily, my ex-wife kept my child during this last weekend. Only had my stepson and wife here. It was tough not getting cranky with him, but I am pretty sure it was the surgery causing that. Cannot even imagine having that kind of stress on me after what we just went through. Maybe it will calm down a bit today. Btw, it was nice meeting you. Manic Mike
  4. Nicole, I was banded on Thurs. and am having the same feelings you are describing. About all I know to do is just keep drinking slowly and make sure your hydrated. Last night I tried some sf pudding and it felt really heavy in my chest. Not for sure how to describe the pain, but kind of like a rolling pressure. Luckily I am experiencing no hunger pangs. And lol....since I have been banded I have a new motto: "If I would have known it was going to hurt this bad, I would have put the cheeseburgers down years ago!"
  5. Wow, This was somewhat tougher than I thought it was going to be. Some people on here report no problems and some say it is horrible. I am nearer the second one. I have eaten a little broth, and keeping Water down. Anyone have an idea on what to do for Protein? Lol...it's only been three days and I am stir crazy in the house. Going to try a trip to walmart Michael
  6. Thanks for all the help guys and gals. Without this forum I would have been really lost and confused. Will try some of my pre-diet Protein Shake tonight and see if it stays down. Michael

    In Pain!

Cashmere, I am on my 3rd day out and am finally back to breathing normal. It gets better. Still taking my pain meds, but I managed to make a trip to walmart earlier. It gets better. Day 1 and 2 I was thinking I had made the wrong choice, but today it's manageable. Both of you just keep taking the pain meds and holding on for tomorrow. Michael
  8. Like everyone else, it's been a long road. My surgery is coming up at 8:30 a.m. Very nervous and alot is going through my head. Here we go! Michael
  9. Nicole, I am having surgery on the 29th of this month. That pretty much makes us band buddies :smile2: And just to calm you down, I will post on here after my surgery Thursday and let you know how it went for me. Maybe that will help you out a little. <---nervous too. Michael
  10. AmberK, I am on day seven of the pre-op diet and it gets better. The only thing I have really noticed is I am making alot of mistakes at my job. Normally I am pretty clear-headed and work with million dollar machines, but I just seem to be in a fog. You would think if anything I would be more clear headed than normal  Oh well, maybe it's like a heroin junkie kicking the habit..lol Michael
  11. Howdy, Am being banded by him on the 29th of July. Seems like everything is going according to plan. Michael

    First Date ??

Nina, Think about it from his side.....poor guy is probably confused why you won't eat. Lol, some guys have plenty of problems reading women anyway. I think you ought to tell him, if he likes you it will not matter. Michael
  14. Spoiltmom, Yes, I think it means fat free cottage cheese. It's the same diet I am on, but thankfully he is letting me make my shakes with skim milk (makes em better). I tried the unjury, but ended up going with Body Fortress whey Protein (Choc.) at Walmart. It's cheaper and not terrible. They ok'd it for me Good luck and it's tough going! Michael

    Surgery tomorrow! FINALLY!!!

Jamie, Glad to hear you made it. I am on day 5 of the two week pre-op diet. Keep us informed on how your doing. Michael
  16. Wow...I applaud anyone who has to make food for someone else while on the liquid diet. That is the toughest thing yet. I fixed both of my boys Breakfast and lunch Saturday, and it was tough not to eat any of it. I mean REALLY tough  So, to all the Mom's out there that have to do this everyday....you have my respect! Michael
  17. Lucy, I am also on day 1 of the Protein pre-op diet. When I was at the Dr's yesterday, I showed her a printout of a Protein Drink I got at Walmart. She said it was fine to take. It's called Body Fortress Whey Protein (Chocolate). I bought the 2 pound can and it's not bad stuff. Give it a try, I mix mine with skim milk and wash it down  Michael

    Surgery Date!!!

Congrats! I know what it's like to be excited. July 29th for me!! Michael
  19. Howdy folks, Started day one of my pre-op diet. Last night I grilled out and had steak and sausages. That's probably going to be my biggest thing I will miss. Oh yeah, drank almost a 12-pack of Bud Light while grilling  It's all very much worth it. Especially if I have a few more years to be here with my son. Also starting Chantix in the morning. Looks like since I can't eat much after the band is applied, it might be a great time to quit smoking also. Michael

    I got Approved!

Congrats Jenn, I am scheduled for July 29th date. Keep me informed of your progress, and since I will be banded a little ahead of you....feel free to ask me anything
  21. Howdy, Have insurance with Cigna and completed my 6 month supervised diet. The surgeons office submitted my paperwork and I was declined. Reason: No psychiatric eval. or nutrionist visit. So, my girlfriend had her cosmetology test yesterday in Little Rock and I set my appts. up then so we could get it all done at once. Good news....contrary to what my ex-wifes have said, I am not crazy She did tell me after talking with me for awhile that she thought I was very committed to getting this done. I agree  After that I met the nutritionist. And you would never believe where..... Famous Dave's restaurant. Lol. A friend of mine called while I was meeting her, and he said "Isn't that like attending an AA meeting at a liquor store?" She just laughed. Anyway, those two things will be submitted and hopefully I will hear back in a week or so. Just wanted to tell someone, because I am happy! Michael Oh yeah, and the nutritionist told me I look remarkably like Bill Engvall the comedian. I asked her if she smoked her Breakfast
  22. Just introducing myself...my name is Michael and I have been pursuing getting the lap band done. I have already completed the 6 month doctor supervised diet and am waiting for them to submit it to insurance. Hopefully I will get approved and maybe even a June band date??? I have always been overweight. Very excited at the prospect of being much thinner. I also set a goal that when they give me my surgery date....I will quit smoking also. Anyway, just wanted to say howdy!
