I'm with you@! I get the chair thing. I actually broke a tiny one in a conference room in my office. THAT...*sigh*...and I can't wait to buy clothes in a normal store and just not be sad that they don't carry my size. -

I travel for business - a lot. I secretly carry my seatbelt extender..and the awkwardness of trying to get settled, in the seat and it all hooked up while a hundred walk by seeing all of my struggles trying to get situated. By the time I do, I'm so hot, tired and just OVER it. I actually had a steward(ess) tell me to please not try to steal the seatbelt extender. It was mine. I bought it on Amazon. : ( But that was just HUMILIATING. I want to be able to travel without someone looking at me like I'm a monster when I try to sit next to them on the plane. That (above) and being able to sit without an extra 50lbs sitting on the top of my thighs from my belly. Those are the things I can't wait for after surgery. -
January surgeries?!
SimoneMonet replied to jessicaalyssa's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been having mixed feelings as well - from fear to euphoria to terror to uncertainty to wondering if I'll miss certain foods, to wondering if my husband will hate me b/c we won't be able to eat out for a while or the way we used to...to wondering if I'm strong enough. But then I read these forums and the success stories and I get pumped again@! You can do it. You will do well. It will do wonders for your health and for YOU want in your life.<3 -

Great to hear!! And so glad for you!! -
hey...definitely good to know! When I saw that it helps pain, I wanted to make sure I have one. If they give me an extra, that would be good as well, but considering not being able to bathe for couple of days, I will probably want a clean one.

How did your family and friends react?
SimoneMonet replied to Queenbee34's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So....this is a GREAT question! I'm a GIANT compared to my family. They are all petite tiny little Asians. I am not only taller...and at 5'3" that's almost laughable. But my father is a fat shamer and he has not been kind. His side of the family has been large (and his sisters and cousins who are nurses have had bariatric surgery) but my immediate family is full of very thin people. My mother put me on my first diet when I was 12 and at my thinnest..I think I was this height and weighed 125 lbs. But I did tell my father. I think his first inclination was to say...JUST DIET. But realizing that I have struggled my entire life with hereditary health issues and weight - he just wants me to be healthy. So he has been as supportive as he knows how to be. IMHO, this is my journey and my journey alone. Ppl can support me or not. My husband is only afraid of complications and wants me to be comfortable. He knows at my current weight I am suffering b/c of the extra weight on my joints and b/c I have Rheumatoid Arthritis. Also my job requires me to be available whether I am on vacation or even on holiday, so I did inform almost half of my company that I am having a 'surgery', and not available for the pre-op days and time in-patient. Other than that....they don't need to know. -
Crossing my fingers for you for a quick approval!

Merry Christmas to you, greenbean! Cheering you on from the sidelines. I start my diet on Tuesday the 18th.

Thanks, Jen! I'll be cheering you on as well!!! I have to say I'm kind of in a nesting mode as how to arrange the 'room' I live in to recover which is my bedroom ....I also work from home and so need to make room so I can move easily around it. I also want to put things within arms reach. I bought the compression vest? that someone recommended a few months ago in the August/or Sept pals? a few used to help with the pain and healing. Posting a pic in case anyone else is interested. I bought mine on Amazon. Just tried it on and it fits well. It's actually kinda comfy. A few were asking what size - I got a 3 XL (Weight 307 - HT 5'3" and I definitely carry most of my weight around my waist. I wanted to get it in time to return and exchange for a different size in case it didn't fit. I am excited as well. I was getting a little scared, but now I think I'm really in the very excited mode.

Hi I have Rheumatoid Arthritis. What are some of the topicals you used? I will definitely need them.

Hey everyone, So everything went fast forward today. I got my call and approval. Surgery is scheduled for Jan. 2nd. What a way to welcome the New Year! My 3 pre-op appts are on the 18th - anesthesia, pre-nutrition, and pre-op with the doc. I was actually experiencing that food funeral mentality over the last 9 months. Bizarredly enough, now I'm having a hard time eating after going through my last month of pre-op diet that I had to do for 6 months. I lost no weight in the first 5 months - even gained a little - and then in the last month I lost 11 lbs but I've also had a little bit of anxiety about the surgery. Am thankful for this forum. Have lived such an isolated life at this weight. Nice to have people who understand the anxiety and being able to read everyone's challenges and successes. ❤️ Jeanne

Neck/facelift, Anyone?

I think you look fabulous. I'm going to be blunt and ask about cost. How much did the blerpharoplasy and lift cost? -
hey, Congratulations!!

Well I'm excited. I had asked the scheduler and she sent a note today that it wasn't going to be this year and that is ALL she said - nothing else : \. And then 5 mins after I quite literally just got notification from my insurance company that I was APPROVED for surgery - the pre-auth is for btw Jan 2 to the 23rd!! So I sent a note to the scheduling admin to let her know I was approved (of which I'm sure she's probably already aware..lol). And yes, its the IFs that are driving me crazy. When do I start the pre-op diet, Is it going to impede the holidays, when is the surgery, ..LOL. I'm nervous AND excited. Make sense?

So I'm not sure if I'll be in this January group or not - here's to hoping. I started the whole process of tests, psychiatric review, and 6 mos of monitored weight loss, etc 9 mos ago. The nurse said she submitted the paperwork on Wednesday of this week to BC/BS and it takes 15 days for review/approval. The nurse says they (not sure if that's the doc or BC/BS of Mass) have a surgery date but just haven't told me? Is that unusual? You'd think they would try to coordinate with me to make sure I was available work wise, made arrangements with family, etc.

BC/BS of Mass Gastric Bypass Approvals / Denials
SimoneMonet posted a topic in Insurance & Financing
Hi All: I was wondering regarding BC/BS of Mass gastric bypass approvals. I received the pre-auth form. I have a BMI of greater than 50 with 2 co-mobidities sleep apnea and diabetes. I've met all of the other testing and nutrition criteria except for the psychologist visit. Is 6 mos pre-dieting is required for approval? Is pre-surgery weight loss required for approval? I was wondering if anyone was denied for gaining weight prior to the surgery. -
A surgery date!! (11/26). Now I’m nervous 😬

Hey, Thank you for replying. I actually JUST got cleared for surgery by the doc, just waiting for the insurance approval. I *did* gain a pound. Hopefully I won't be denied b/c of that.
