I am preband and have taken Motrin a lot for aches & pains caused by being overweight and lack of sleep. I now take Ambien for sleep which has helped my aching body tremendously. I would take 3-4 Motrin at a time 3 or 4 times a day before Ambien. Now I can go days without Motrin and try to take Tylenol if I do need something. Question = Do you think I've already damaged my stomach with Mortin? Should I have some sort of test done b4 surgery? I had a lot of heartburn during both pregnancies which was to be expected. I now have occasional heartburn....3- 4 times a month. Thanks in advance!!

If you have a local support group...
3loves replied to gordonfamily3's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am preband and have attended 2 of 3 required support group sessions. The first one was open to questions then went from there and the second had a chiropractor do a presentation. I am very "PRO" chiropractor, but I didn't think this was beneficial to a newbie. Based on my experiences, I would look up topics here and see what brought on some good discussions. I have learned more here than I could ever learn at a monthly support group. -
Congratulations!! Your post is very encouraging even though I know everyone is different. People do have a distorted view of this surgery thinking of years ago. SUPER DUPER job on the 10 lbs and keep us posted!!

I was just thinking today that I should come up with a good joke on April 1st for my boys since they are old enough to understand. They are ages 5 yrs & 3.5 yrs. Any mommies out there have any good ideas? We love to joke and laugh together so I know they'll enjoy being tricked. :heh:

Thanks ladies!! We had an interesting morning. I painted the nails of all three of my guys which includes my husband. :heh: He had to work this AM, so he woke me up asking for the nail polish remover b/c he said my son painted his nails. I didn't tell him at the time that I was the guilty party. I called him at work and confessed. He didn't even see his toes were red too! He was a good sport. My little ones woke me up saying they had blood on their fingers. They are so precious!!! I also told them about the belly button thief, they checked and then my oldest said, "Mom were you having a dream?" The boys kind of paid me back by sneaking the paint out of the cabinet....they had a good time at the kitchen table. Out chocolate lab, Malley, had orange spots by the time I figured out what was going on!! :biggrin1: kebabish ~ You can click this link for info on the ticker: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=16218 Good luck!!

Randy & Joy, I am so sorry about your loss. My heart heavy for you and your family. I will lift you all up in prayers!!

Thank you for sharing this and be sure to say THANKS to him!! It was a well deserved award. We have a family history of military service and I understand the stress when a loved one is in harms way. So glad to hear he is now safe at home to stay....I'm sure there were tears of joy when the family heard the good news. Again, let him know we're thankful for what he has done for this great country!!

Benicar HCT, Metformin, and Effexor... these are a few of my favorite things...
3loves replied to Poodles's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Druggie slush? Fix me one please. I also take Effexor (I do take the XR though) and I have heard from some here at LBT say they still take the Effexor, some say they can break up the capsule based in info from the drug maker and still others say their surgeon switched them to something else. I have heard my surgeon prefers Lexapro and I have not been able to have this conversation with him. I think you should also consult your surgeon on this after getting feedback here. Make a list of questions for him/her based on advice given here. Good luck!! -
My vote is for the Nature's Miracle. After a few puppies and 2 kids, it has been a lifesaver!! ~ Good Luck ~

I'm with you Morsaille.....what is the big deal about poop? Why is it so much easier to train them to pee and not poop in the potty? Tomorrow I'm going to buy some toothpaste and try the look and see how the poop comes out approach. :nervous
-
chocolate ~ Definitely a MUST have for me, especially during my cycle. I can get by with 1-2 hersey kisses....really....I've done it before. After talking with the dietitian though, I am going to try the Viactiv and see if that works for me after I get the band. coffee ~ I also need at least ONE cup a day to get me going

Kathy....your little man is soo precious!! Beautiful eyes and he really favors you from what I can tell from your avatar. :biggrin1:

Thank you ALL!! I have been made to feel like a terrible mother b/c my 3.5 yr old is not potty trained. My mother trained my first one when he was 3 yrs (now 5 yrs) while we were in the process of moving to another state. I offered to send him to Granny Bootcamp and she's not interested in training another one. :phanvan He will pee in the potty, but forget it when it comes to poopy. We tried for an hour last week to get him to poop and he sat on the pot part of the time and the rest of the time he ran around naked holding his butt yelling, "I'm going to poopy, I need a pullup!" I had no idea he was actually THAT stubborn....get's it from his dad. My oldest has done just about everything in his power to encourage his little brother. He was successful in teaching him to pee standing up instead of backwards on the toilet. :clap2: We have tried candy, stickers, McDonalds, fancy underwear, you name it. We even bought a fish tank and offered to buy fish if he would poop in the potty. So far, nothing. :tired One of my concerns is that he has gone 2 days without pooping when I've made him go without pullups. I finally gave in on the 3rd day let him poop in the pullup. I've heard they can backup and it can cause a big problem. Please give me your thoughts and experiences on this. :help: Did I do a bad thing by giving in? How do you handle a situation like this? I had a few quick moments last night to read LBT and took the advice of Jachut of NO pullups....at least during the day. I had to hide them in order to convince him he had to wear underwear. My parents were visiting from OH and my oldest got go outside with Papaw to play. I put his clothes, along with his underwear, on the sofa and told him when he got dressed he could go outside too. Well, he stayed inside for an HOUR!! Can you believe that? He finally gave in, but I can't believe he waited that long. He wanted his pullup. He went all day without an accident, but once again, he did not poop today. He's just holding it in. Please give me some options. :help: I don't want to resort to punishment but need alternatives b/c he fully understands and it's time. :faint:

I agree with all of you. Wouldn't it be nice to go back to the old days just for one race and see what would happen? I bet there would be a lot more pushing and punches thrown. Why do you think Britsol is one of the hottest tracks of the season? Missed the comments about Kurt's ears. Kevin is such a hoot. Martinsville sure will be interesting.....we'll see who still has hurt feelings.

This is good advice for busy moms too! You don't have to go camping to appreciate the advice given here. I'm preband and these are good things to keep handy for lunch. :biggrin1: Typical day with 2 boys.... Today my boys stacked their mattresses, 2 twins, on top of each other and were bouncing to see if they could hit the ceiling fan. Well, they did and came crying to mom. Kathy473 ~ Sounds like a blast....wished I could join you! The part of the shower in the hotel is a great idea. Jack ~ I love the thought of Gerbers. Who would have thought of that? BTW, I have read so many times how you eat Holy Shredded Wheat. How do you do it anyway? That sounded so good to me until I realized we're not supposed to drink with meals. Holy Shredded Wheat would be so dry. Please help me solve this mystery. ddiedre ~ Does the milk mixed with eggs help a person tolerate them? I love eggs and usually use milk anyway.

I love the Sopranos, but I'm wondering if they have a new writer. Did we wait 2 yrs for this? I can remember going to the hospital to give birth almost 4 yrs ago and worrying about what I was going to miss on. Now I'd rather watch The Shield or Boston Legal. I sure hope they pick up the pace soon b/c I miss the old Sopranos....bring them back!!

Leatha ~ Super Duper NSV!! You brought tears to my eyes and you give me hope. There is no way I could do what you did....allergies aside. You are solid as a rock and I love to read your posts b/c you always take me where I need to go....to the Lord. Thank you for being here and being such an inspiration to a prebander!! I appreciate you!! :clap2:

Very interesting.....it's nice to hear about those who have had the band long term. Sorry you have such a rough time though. :phanvan Help me understand. Why would Dr No only put 2.8 in a 4cc band? I thought from reading threads here that the bands actually hold more than what they say. What is the deal with that? You know, I just recently read about the Omnipaque used to check for leaks and some even use it for fills instead of saline. Did they use that on you? I'll look for that thread. Perhaps you already know about this, but I'll do a quick search. I wish you the very best and don't ever think of yourself as a failure....even if you do switch to RNY, that doesn't mean you failed!! You have come so far and should be proud of what you have accomplished!! Hang in there!! :gluck: -
:pound: Hey, when your done with the psychiatrist, would you send them my way? I want my band so bad that sometimes I wonder if I'm going to PB after eating.....not really, but I do think about the band constantly. Being preband I can't really speak to your eating after an unfill, but my guess is your just being normal. Maybe you just needed to have an affair with an old friend. Hang in there....tomorrow is a new day!!

Keep looking....you deserve it....we ALL do. You brought a big smile when I read your first line. :biggrin1: Every prebander should read this and know the waiting will be worth it!! Thanks for sharing and being so inspirational!! :clap2:

Tell him you love him then tell him what Jen RN said, "take the stairs". I LOVE that!! :heh: Of course, my DH suggested the lapband for both of us, so I'm in a different position. Boy, the fur would fly in our house if my DH said that to me.

Oooo...that's what I was afraid of. I will still get some juice in the house in the event I need it post band. Now, I could do the egg drop soup and my husband would probably jump for joy. He loves chinese, but I try to limit him b/c he's one of those people that spew garlic through his skin. I dared him to eat it when I was pregnant.....one night he did sleep in the spare room. :heh: You do have some great friends. I bet it was nice to just be home. Thanks for the info....every little bit helps.

You know, we call that "grit" where I come from. Never surrender!! That's a good attribute to have. Some people take it too far and become rude, but I can tell that's not you. You just make things happen. :biggrin1: Perhaps that will be the difference between and "yes" & a "no". This I know for sure, you are going to appreciate your band sooo much and will be sooo thankful. I can say that from my personal experience. I read something I can't get out of my mind that PhotoNut wrote....."God's timing is perfect".....or something to that effect. I keep reminding myself of that and think of all the people that have been at this for a year or so. I fully expect a "yes" as you do. Let's keep on keeping on and lean on each other!!!
