Does anyone plant a vegetable garden? Here's a few pics from last year. This is our garden in IN with tomatoes, peppers, corn, & green beans. It's one of my favorites b/c it looks like my son is watching it grow. Here's my dads...the family garden. A few years back this was an herb garden with over 3000 plants. This was when my mom had her shop. Dad changed it to the vegetable garden and we all pitch in when we can. My baby brother helps the most b/c he lives the closest. It's nice to make memories as a family in the garden. That's how I was raised. :biggrin1: Pea Pickers....grab a bucket and start picking!!

You look fantastic!! :clap2: You are beautiful!! Thanks for the inspiration!! I used to have a 3-wheeler back when they were legal. The feeling on running on a trail is addictive. Oh, the jumps were fun too!! Can you tell I grew up with 3 brothers?

bubbame ~ You can count on my prayers as you go to your hearing....may God's will be done. He truly understands every emotion/feeling we have and let Him carry you during this time. Your LBT is there too in prayer!! Teresita ~ Great link!! I had not heard that version, but I know the song. Thanks!! lady in red ~ God is good!! Hold your head high...you have the Lord and He is your success. I will pray with you and you continue to ask for His guidance. You can't fail b/c He is directing you. Have faith in that and walk in His will. I'llsucceed ~ Isn't it wonderful knowing we can take anything to Him? Good for you...keep your eyes on Him!! I love your prayer for the band. That prayer sums it all up. I'm preband, but that will be my prayer too. To each of you ~ Thank you for your prayers already!! I know God doesn't always give us the answers we want, but He knows what's best. My heart is so thrilled to have this thread to share in this powerful thing of prayers!! To God be the glory....great things he has done!!

Finally, I get to post some good news. The battle is over and I won!! :clap2: I have rec'vd verbal confirmation of my approval!!! I am shaking, crying, and overwhelmed!!:faint:It feels like the dream I had the other night.:notagree This is REALLY going to happen for me. I just got the word 20 min ago and had to make some calls, then couldn't wait to get on here to tell all of you!! Thank you again for all the support!! I am convinced the knowledge I learned here played a big role in getting approval. I felt armed and ready for anything they threw my way. I was even ready to type up a letter of appeal. Praise the Lord for He is good and always knows what's best for us!! I will never forget the words of Photonut ~ God's timing is perfect!! :amen: Thank U again for that....it has been a comfort through all of this. O.K. I'll shut up now!! Thanks for listening and sharing in my joy!!

I purchased these South Beach bars and I could only eat 1 bite. Maybe it's b/c I'm preband and still enjoying my real chocolate. I will gladly send these to anyone that would like them...free of charge. I would pitch them b/c I don't know of anyone around here that likes them. I have 5 bars total of the South Beach Diet Meal Replacement Bars, Chocolate Crisp. Just PM me and they're yours. :biggrin1:

Try again tomorrow. It seems something is going on with this site tonight. Things have been awful slow and it seems to get hung out there in cyberland. Then again, it could be something has changed since they did they switch to the new server awhile back. I hope you can get it to work....that would be a pain if it didn't. :cry

I agree with you that it's not always the best route to get an attny. I didn't get an attorney, only consulted one. I have no intention of going further with this claim even though they were at fault. I got out of my car and went to them after I checked my son. It broke my heart to see them and even be in an accident. It's so emotional. :phanvan You are such a wonderful person to do what you did for the man without insurance!! I bet he will pass along a good deed one day as well....we need more people like you. :clap2: I think we share perspective on a lot of these issues and have given Wheestin some things to think about. Thanks for bringing this topic to light.

Anxiety, Addiction, and Control..HELP!!
3loves replied to LilBoPink's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
LilBoPink ~ Hi there...you are not alone. You should come over to the May thread and join us there: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=16512&page=3 We will all be banded in May. :biggrin1: I discovered how bad my addiction was last year. You are making progress to the "new you" by acknowledging your addiction. Like DonnaB said, one day or one minute at a time. You can do this!! -
DevilMayKare ~ I do understand your point of view and I would probably feel the same way in your shoes. However, I was advised this by the attorney I visited and so was my mother in another accident in another state (she had a different attny). Since it is not the law to do so, I thought it was b/c we may or could say something that could be used against us. What does it benefit us to talk to the other company? I know they record the conversation and I would think they would only do this for their benefit not mine. It's my nature to be protective of myself and family. So knowing how some people are screwed by what they innocently say, I think it's best to protect your own interest and not that of an insurance company. We all know how sneaky some of these people can be, but I'm sure not all of them are like that. If my case ever goes to court, they do not have anything to use against me and only have a police report to go on. That's exactly the position I would want to be in going into court. Like the attorney said, he won't have anything to "undo". Again, this is my personal view and I hope you don't take it in a personal manner against yourself or your insurance company. I do appreciate where your coming from. I'm sure we could take a poll and find many different opinions on this. Hope this helps to explain why I said what I did.

BTW, I rec'vd a check from State Farm for $249 to replace my car seat. I think car seats are different than things like glasses and cell phones, but I would think they would pay for them. Maybe if State Farm admits to responsibility, they could pay your stuff along the way without a final settlement. We haven't gotten a final settlement, but our insurance company (State Farm) is paying us then going after them. Oh my, pain and suffering is a huge part of an accident. I bet you were so glad to just hug your husband and know he was going to be OK!!

YEAH DonnaMarie!!! :clap2: :laugh :cheer2: :bounce: :Banane33: Congratulations!!:woot: I know you are elated. Your right, July will be here b4 you know it and your house will keep you busy. We moved over 2 yrs ago and I still have boxes to unpack.

I don't know much about this, but I wonder if you would copy/paste it into Excel and then try to copy/paste it into here from Excel. Sounds weird, but stranger things have happened. ~Good Luck~

Hi Wheestin ~ I am so sorry to hear about your husbands accident, although I'm glad to hear he is OK as well as the others involved. As others have stated, they are going to be very sore for awhile. I was involved in an accident the day b4 Thanksgiving last year. It was a very snowy day & we were all going very slow on a 4 lane highway. Next thing I know, this man made a u-turn on the freeway and we slid right into him. To make matters worse, the spot was not even marked (like some of them have signs saying no u-turn) and was completely snow covered. My son was with me and I will always sing the praises of Britax car seats....they are the best....he didn't have one complaint...ever!! I ended up with deep bruising in my left shoulder from the seat belt. I took Flexeril (muscle relaxer) for a long time after my accident and also had physical therapy. The officer on the scene said I was following too close and I argued with him saying I was way behind and was going very slow. He told me on the spot he was putting me as car #1, which meant for insurance purposes, I was at fault. I grabbed my camera out of the car and told him I was taking my own pics b/c I know there was nothing I could have done differently. I was able to limp my van home after being pulled out of the ditch and immediately called State Farm. Within 20 min we had a claim number and approval for a rental. This was wonderful b/c we were all ready to travel home for the holiday. I then rec'vd a call from the officer. He asked me a few more questions, then said after he talked with the other guy some more, he was changing him to car #1 b/c he was making an illegal u-turn. I consulted an attorney free of charge to cover myself. He said this should be easily settled with State Farm and the other insurance company. Since we didn't have extensive injuries or major damage to our van, it wouldn't be worth it to pursue a claim. I agreed. He said State Farm is a giant and they are known to be "pit bulls" when pursing their interests. So far so good. I always get a check from State Farm for any expenses related to this within a few days after filing. They are great. Didn't mean to rattle on. Anyway, from what I have learned from my experience, this is what I would do. 1. Contact your insurance company and get a claim number. 2. Get that number to the tow company (unless you paid on the scene) and the repair facility. 3. Document EVERY conversation with date, time, & person. 4. Consult an attorney. Most will do this for free. Let them advise you on future conversations regarding the accident. 5. You do NOT have to give a statement to the other insurance company. This is only a courtesy and you should NOT do it. Let your insurance company handle this or an attorney if you get one. Here's what I told them per my attorney when they wanted me to give a recorded statement: "I haven't concluded medical treatment and I think in my best interest at this point to contact an attorney." 6. Have your husband seen by your PCP. Have you tired contacting the officer on the scene instead of calling the dept? You can get a copy of the police report. I think I had to pay $5 and it was a couple of days later. There were tons of accidents that day. Take care & I hope your husband will heal quickly!! Keep us posted.

Do you have any bullion cubes in the house? I know when I was on Optifast, this was lifesaver for me. Since I'm preband, I have NO idea if this is a good thing or not. I know I bought the Herb Ox brand b/c it has a lower sodium amt than the other brands. Those dog-gone periods are rough on a body. :phanvan Good luck ~ You have many here that are cheering you on!!

I can relate even though I'm preband....I just finished myself and couldn't eat enough Ore Ida FF's. If I had the band, I would have made myself sick eating that.....don't do it!!! It's not worth it. Stay home and eat what you have there. Pudding sounds goooood....yummy!! Really, I mean that. I love the stuff. STAY STRONG!!!

THE MOMMY TEST I was out walking with my 4 year old daughter. She picked up something off the ground and started to put it in her mouth. I took the item away from her and I asked her not to do that. "Why?" my daughter asked. "Because it's been laying outside, you don't know where it's been, it's dirty and probably has germs" I replied. At this point, my daughter looked at me with total admiration and asked, "Wow! How do you know all this stuff?" "Uh," ...I was thinking quickly," All moms know this stuff. It's on the Mommy Test. You have to know it, or they don't let you be a Mommy." We walked along in silence for 2 or 3 minutes, but she was evidently pondering this new information. "OH...I get it!" she beamed, "So if you don't pass the test you have to be the daddy." "Exactly" I replied back with a big smile on my face and joy in my heart. When you're finished laughing, send this to a Mom.

Thank you Susan!! :clap2: This is what I needed. I knew there was something to this, but didn't know or understand the details. This is great info. I need to read it again when the kids aren't screaming so I can absorb more of it. Thanks again!! :biggrin1:

My heart hurts for you. I wished I could call them myself. :phanvan There are rules and reasons for them, but do you think it would help to get a supervisor involved? I always told them my surgeon said it would take 2-3 mos to get a surgery date after approval (which is exactly what I was told....I was flexible being a SAHM and got in sooner) and I needed to move this along as quickly as possible. Another thing is, I involved a rep that worked for my husband's company (not insurance) since we are self-funded. She really was a tremendous help and put my file into the hands of the PreD supervisor and gave her a deadline. Also, I had my surgeon's office call. They got a bit more info than I was able to on my own. Not sure if this is of any help, but wanted to extend the info just in-case. I will continue to lift you up in prayer. He is greater than anything we face in life. He is right there with you. This will happen....it's just in His time. I will pray for you to have peace while your waiting. Keep your chin up and know we are here for you as well!!

Someone will need to help me out on this, but I read where your hormones increase b/c the fat cells hold something (some kind of hormone) and when you lose between your pre-op diet, surgery, and then start taking weight off, it throws your body out of balance. It's kind of like having high hormones during pregnancy. Is this clear as mud? Sorry I don't know more. Maybe someone can step in and explain it in more detail. I think this is why it's common for surgeons to put their patients on antidepressants b/c it helps balance your body.

This is way too funny!!
