My boys had this for lunch and it smelled sooo good. Here's one of their favorite websites: http://www.ebaumsworld.com/flash/peanutbutter.html Whenever they eat PBJ, they call it Peanut Butter Jelly Time.

I've only taken naps on my side b/c I'm afraid one of my kids will hit my port at night.....one of them always ends up in bed with us. The first time was 2 days after surgery and like Sharon, I used a pillow for support. Today, 6 days post-op, I slept on my left side which is where my port is located.....again a pillow for support. It was great!!! :biggrin1:

Did you tell anyone before surgery, and do you tell people now?

I told everyone as well. Family: immediate & extended, friends, my son's teacher, church. A couple times I've had family members get quiet so I just changed the subject. My DH actually suggested it for both of us and I got to go first so he is 100% on board. I got some flack from my mom and even the day before she said she may call me back to talk me out of it. I told her to save her breath!! After my surgery, she said she was going to be jealous when I started losing a lot of weight.....now the truth comes out. It doesn't really affect me what others think or say. If they're talking about me, they are leaving someone else alone. -
Thanks for the info justduckie....very helpful. :clap2: Scully0325 ~ How are you feeling? I trust your getting your water and protein. :biggrin1: GreatDame ~ I get really hungry sometimes too. I had Cream of Wheat this AM and it was really satisfying. My surgeon's post-op diet included a lot of what some say are mushies....they call it full liquids. Oh, I also had refried beans from Taco Bell last night and I thought I was in heaven!! :hungry: I did get light-headed one day and I think it was from lack of protein. I drank my Isopure and felt so much better. kato ~ Congratulations!! Get used to the gas for a while.....I'm still fluttering around. Trip2bme ~ What a super buy on that Magic Bullet. :clap2: The one I got from Wal-Mart is an "express" but I don't see any difference with the one's on E-Bay....hmmm. Wished I had looked a little better on E-Bay.

Duh...I just NOW saw this tread.:faint:Anyway, you know we're praying for you over here at our house. I do hope they take your tonsils out. Have your tried yogurt? The acidophilus may be helpful since you've been on the antibiotics.

I would brag about you too!! My mom was a little more simple (fried chicken in an iron skillet), but we always had friends over and enjoyed big family meals. There were 4 of us kids so we could fill a table. I can't tell you the number of times my mom would feed most of the football team on a Fri night. So many wonderful memories at the kitchen table. :biggrin1: And dad would sometimes fix breakfast on the weekends. You make me want more kids. I can't wait for the next 2 yrs to fly by so we can consider getting pregnant. Sounds crazy at my age, but I love a full house......sometimes 2 preschool boys can sound like an army though.

Mandy ~ That is good news!! Babies are near and dear to my heart. Thanks for the update and we will continue to lift that little person up to the Lord!!

DrewsLou ~ How much did you pay for shipping? I shopped E-Bay, but found I would pay more b/c the shipping was so high. I got mine at Wal-Mart for around $58.95....like Papajoe. :biggrin1: Does anyone else wake up REALLY sore in the mornings? I take some pain meds and it wears of quickly, but it still is every morning. I am still in the recliner b/c there are always a kid in our bed and I've had nightmares about them kicking my belly.

Sounds like hormones to me. I would gently suggest and offer to take her for an appt to her PCP or OB/GYN to start with. She may have more specifics needs, but she does need to be evaluated. She probably doesn't even realize how she is acting or overreacting. Bless her heart....she needs some attention herself. She has a good daughter too. :biggrin1: Stay close and try to help her.

I feel like I'm in good company!! My DH came home yesterday with a huge watermelon. :hungry: My boys were talking 90 m.p.h. about it. Can't wait to eat some on the deck and laugh at my kids. Now, just to make sure....your barefoot right?
-
Oooo....that's good to know sister. Thanks!! Margo ~ I want one now!!! You describe a great sandwich. I will look for those when I get to that stage.

Yup...I'm with you on the getting up pain....exactly like you said & lots of sounds from my belly. :biggrin1: Most of the pain is in the port area and needed help the first 2 days, but I can now do it myself even though it's still tender. I have more pain in the AM, not a whole lot, but enough to take some pain meds. Also have some left shoulder pain. That's getting better too b/c I don't need to use my heating pad. Too bad you don't get paid for all that good cooking....I guess you do get paid in a sense that you get to see your family enjoying it. I bet you are a good cook if you make up your own recipes. :hungry: Maybe you can slip in some low fat stuff w/o them knowing it. :heh: So, are you getting any rest? I hope so. Ask your kids for a foot massage. Afterall, you deserve to be pampered!!! I've only lost 3.5 lbs since Fri, but I'm perfectly fine with that. Glad to hear your scale is moving too. Take care and thanks for the update!!

Tracyd ~ I have a Magic Bullet. It's still in the box. I got some $$ for my birthday so that's how I got one....they are pricey. I'm going to recruit my kids tomorrow to empty and reload the dishwasher so I can use it. Sheryl Kay ~ Whoo Hoo....great job!! Mystjin ~ Good for you....6 lbs is great. I'm right behind you at 3.5 lbs, banded the 26th. DeAnn ~ You are a model bandster for sure!! Except for the muscle thing. I'm being very careful when I reach for things and I think of you. Sorry to hear your dad lost his leg....that is so terrible. I'll PM you. You are always in my prayers. justduckie ~ Talk about a model bandster!! :wow2: I clicked on your blog and you are just amazing!! Keep up the good work and thanks for the inspiration. BTW, I have an exercise tape/band thingy, but don't know how to use it. Any suggestions? Did you buy a dvd to go by or how do you find the exercises? .....thanks to everyone else for the updates & advice. I can't wait to come to this thread everyday. I love it!!

Special thanks to Myra for keeping all of us updated on the May Bandsters!! We appreciate your hard work!!

Diane ~ You are so funny....thank you my friend. Actually, I did have a teenie weenie bit of the pudding part of the Boston Cream pie my DH picked out. :kiss My kids wanted cupcakes and I didn't feel like making them, so the guys made a trip to Wal-Mart. There were candles everywhere!! :faint:

My instructions say to wait 2 wks for a bath, but I'm going to wait longer. I love a shower anyway. :biggrin1: How's your problem CLOE? Mine was solved yesterday.

My DH is the king of this. He pulls stuff out of his butt that surprises me sometimes. I will ask him when he gets home....he was called back to work tonight b/c of a power surge from the storms. :faint:

Susan ~ Please tell Amy we are praying for her. Bless her heart!! I sure hope they are able to identify the culprit. Yasmin ~ I will lift you up in prayer. I'm sure you will come through with flying colors. Keep in touch and let us know how it goes!! Doty ~ You are indeed blessed with a beautiful family and full of love I'm sure.

Sandy ~ That's a great question. After I quit the program (Oct 05), I gained back 10 lbs (more after I decided to get the band). The reason was b/c I didn't make the changes and felt a little mislead by the time I got to the end of the program. After the liquid part, you have to make good choices and eat right. If I could do that, why would I need this program? Well, I wasn't ready mentally. I can't even tell you what my expectations were and no one talked about the program beyond the shakes. I was thrilled to take off 32 lbs and that's where my head was....on the weight loss, not the lifestyle. The best thing I took away from that program was that I was addicted to food. When you don't have food to chew and only have liquids for that amount of time, you realized you use food for things other than nutrition. The key is changing the way you feel and look at food. I don't care if you have WLS or on any so-called diet. I can take of 30 lbs or more on my own, but to your point, I usually put it back on b/c I don't make the changes in my head. I decided on the band b/c I felt it was a tool that I could use to help me long term. Sorry I'm so wordy. I can get like that. My DH says I talk too much and I agree. Regardless, I hope some of this made sense and was helpful. Keep in mind this is only my opinion and my experience. You will get a different response with every person you ask.

Diane ~ Your post got me thinking....hmmm I think people are more secure with fluffy folk b/c we can't hide our faults. Let's face it, you can only hide fat so much. Whereas, someone that drinks or smokes, they can cover up those things easier. O.K., maybe that's not a good example, but do you know what I'm trying to say? Others can hide their addictions. Once you have conquered your weight, they don't feel superior and have to look for other faults in you to help build themselves up......"at least I don't do such & such". Not that their are necessarily mean, part of that is just human nature. Most of us have some sort of competition in us. You are winning your battle one day at a time and your success shows to the world. Those people that make nice comments are also wondering how they can succeed in certain areas of their lives. I bet you are more of a role model than you even realize. I know you have been for me and I thank you for that!! :biggrin1:

Now that is funny!! I can see the troll wearing them too. Can you see the string from here? TommyO ~ I do love the bridge analogy. :biggrin1:
-
Happy Birthday Nana!! It's nice to share a bday with you!! :biggrin1:
-
Thank you all very much!! It's great to share my bday with my lap band buddies. I will be this age for the rest of my life.....39.

I remember that too Sunta. It was a bad situation and enough for me to swear off a beloved grilled hot dog. :phanvan I think that same thread mentioned they are easier to pass through the band if you peel the skin off.....it's the skin that causes the PB. Look it up to be sure and don't take my word for it. With 2 little ones, we always have hot dogs in the house.
