    Example of Appeal Letters

Hi Barb, I think you've put together a very nice letter. I didn't need to go through this process, but thought I would share a couple of links I had found in my research. I was ready to be denied so I spent some time looking. http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/insurance-help/ http://info.insure.com/health/claimdenial.html Something to consider adding to the letter is a family history (if it applies) of things such as high blood pressure, diabetes, or depression. List family members and their problems. I did send a letter with my pre-d and included this info in the very beginning. Not sure if it will make a difference or not, but anything is worth a try. Also, look up the posts of Mrs Sabre. I know she had to write an appeal letter. I truly hope you are approved quickly. Based on what you've shared here, it looks to me like you should definitely qualify. I hate the insurance game.....it's terrible. Hang in there and fight the fight. You can win this!! Good luck & keep us posted!!
  3. Reboot your puter to see if that helps.

Official 4th of July/Summer Gift Exchange

Don't send silly string either. I had some ready to ship to Cheri last time and my DH told me no....it's against the law b/c it was flammable. I love silly string and my kids love it too. :biggrin1:

Child Abuse - what do I do?

I think this shows the pastor knows more about the situation than any of us thought. He may have even witnessed things that many of us would not recognize as abuse. The dad is probably not a bad person, but his actions are truly horrible. He needs help and an intervention. The kids need to be protected first and foremost. At this point, I'm sure the kids would benefit from counseling as well. Diane, I'm sure this is such a burden on your heart as well. I'm praying for you and the family. Please keep us posted.
  6. Nope.....sorry mine seems normal. Is it a particular section your in or all of them?

  8. O.K. I was sent to the thread tonight for research by my DH. I told him I saw it when it was first posted. I guess it shows the importance of keeping your man happy. I can't believe what I'm seeing in Tricia's post. This is too much!! Good Head also has a chocolate flavor....my favorite.

    Band in the wrong position

Holy cow!! That is just terrible. I can't imagine what you must be going through!! You may save some people the same grief if you were to share the surgeon's name. I hope you get this resolved quickly and I too, would want it repaired. I also wonder what type of legal ramifications this situation creates. Perhaps you should consult a medical attorney.....that is of course, after you confirm the band was placed incorrectly. Maybe a third opinion would be appropriate. Good luck to you!!

    Adoption Drama-advice needed

This has been on my heart all day. I don't have the knowledge to offer advice, but babies pull at my heart strings. Emotions are high for everyone right now and I'm praying for all of you involved. I also pray the the needs of the baby are put BEFORE the physical or emotional needs of ANY of the adults involved. This child is innocent and deserves the very best life has to offer her. Please keep us posted.
  11. You look marvelous!!! You have made a wonderful transformation and this is an inspiration to me. I love pics. :biggrin1: Thanks for sharing.

    Its Official - I'm banded!

Julie...YOU DID IT GIRLY!!! Welcome to the other side. :banana I knew you would be fine. So glad to hear from you. I agree on the aloe vera juice, my home will never be without it. Try some warm broth for your throat. You know, my neck was sore too. I think it was positioning on the table or something. Keep in touch!!

May 2006 Band Crew ~ June Chat

I wouldn't put too much emphasis on rejection at this point. Your body is fighting infection somewhere. Don't wait, call your surgeon ASAP. My discharge instructions said the call ASAP if I had a temp over 100.5. Get the message number and they will page your surgeon and they will call you back immediately. You may need some antibiotics. Good luck and let us know how it turns out. I sure hope you get to feeling better soon. I know a fever is not fun.

Child Abuse - what do I do?

I have no experience with CPS so I can't really comment on that part. I agree with Donna on the counseling issue. It sounds to me like the father also needs some special attention regarding anger management. This is a tough decision. I wonder why the pastor felt so strongly about calling CPS. Maybe it's a standard response they are supposed to give. I believe in spanking and do use that punishment for my kids when it's appropriate, but I am always wondering when I'm in public if someone is going to report me. Like tonight, my son took off running across the parking lot after I told them both many times to walk with me. After we all got the van, I swatted his little butt. I didn't care who saw b/c this could mean his life. I do wonder though in this day & age if I could be reported.

May 2006 Band Crew ~ June Chat

Thanks for the advice Kim. I take my 2 Flinstones and 1 Viactiv. My leg started to cramp this AM when I stretched b4 getting up. Maybe I'll try some bananas. I bet they would be yummy in my Magic Bullet. Oooo....do you think I could add a tsp of peanut butter? :hungry: I'm craving peanut butter b/c they told me not to eat it b/c of the fat content.

Penni ~ I love your pics and like many others, I tend to like the one with the black outfit too. There seems to be something different in your eyes as well.....maybe it's your happy spirit coming through. Thanks for sharing. You are truly a beautiful woman and such inspiration that I look for each time I sign on to LBT. THANKS!!

    Beans Beans!!

Don't suck the juice....eat the beans!!! They are recommended by my surgeon. They are one of my favorite sources of protein. Did your dietitian give you a list of approved foods? If not, I would be happy to scan a copy and send you mine. I refer to my list often.
  19. My experience was completely wonderful with the exception of the expected pain. We arrived at the hospital at 10:30AM and they took me in a room right away to take vitals....they wouldn't let my DH go with me at this point. He could only come after they were done with all the pre-op stuff. Why, I still don't know, but it wasn't a problem. Someone finally took me out of the little room into a prep room with a bed & such. The nurse had some papers and they verified all my insurance info and co-pay. Then I changed into a gown & those white support hose & slippers. A guy came in to start the IV port. Interestingly enough, they started a "spare" in the other hand in the event I had something go wrong with this one. That gave me a warm fuzzy feeling that I was in good hands. :biggrin1: My DH finally came in and I had someone to talk to. I was getting bored. :tired A nurse came by to tell me the OR room was running behind and they would get me in as soon as it came available. I was still very calm and relaxed. I thought I may be nervous, but those feelings never came to me. Finally, the anesthesiologist came in to go over a few things and then my wonderful surgeon came in. We talked over a few things. The OR was now available and my surgery was taking place an hour late. Then the nurse wrapped a warm blanket around me and we walked into my operating room. I jumped on the bed....still calm mind you....and they told me I would be getting sleepy as they hooked up the IV & drugs. The last thing I remember was the kind nurse rubbing my arm. I woke up kind of rough in recovery b/c I was having some weird dream. I found out Vicodin will do that to me b/c it continued after coming home. I'm pretty sure I was moaning when I finally came to. The nurse told me I was in recovery and everything went great. Next thing I remember was getting into my bed in my room. From there, I was up every two hours to walk the halls. Thank goodness I had my DH to help me each time. He spent the night in my room with a cot they provided. I munched on ice chips and took pain meds pretty regularly. Most of my pain was in the port area and was a very sharp burning pain. I met with my surgeon's partner the next morning around 10AM. He was great. He was pleased with my progress and released me. We left to come around 11:30AM. It took the nurse a while to do the discharge b/c many of us were going home at the same time. We had a 3 hr drive to come home and my DH got lost. You see, some men just need a woman to help them drive... I was sleeping a good bit of the time. We took a 30-45 min detour, but finally got home. The next day my DH drove to OH to pick up my kids. Life has been pretty much normal since then.

    prayer requests for LBT'ers

Praising Him for answered prayer!! Thanks to all of you that lifted my request to Him. My DH starts a new job in a couple of weeks. He was able to secure a higher position with a significant pay raise. We have been praying about this for over a year now. All of our expenses have been going up and the old job had frozen OT (he had to work, just didn't get paid) and pay raises. YEAH....we are so happy and thankful!!
