Anyone w/PVC's or other "benign" cardiac arrhythmias?
3loves replied to Momotrips's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yup...I have a benign arrhythmia. It was discovered years ago when I had a physical for basketball. I think I was barley a teenager. I don't have any symptoms unless I'm extremely stressed or overly tired. I required a stress test b4 my lap band surgery and passed with flying colors. My cardiologist wanted me to go on meds, but I hate taking pills and talked him into waiting a couple months to see how much losing weight will benefit me. He agreed only b/c it was very minor. I'm newly banded so the verdict is still out for me. -
I can sooo relate to this. At first, I was shocked my mom seemed so supportive and then when she realized I was serious, her tune changed. Keep in mind my mom has been overweight as long as I can remember.....she told me all I had to do was push the plate away. WHAT?!?! I didn't understand where this was coming from. Eventually, it came out that she was concerned for my well-being and was scared and the biggest reason was b/c she didn't know much about the band and none of her friends did either. I offered to share info and websites with her. She didn't want to know. I told her that I've already made my decision and I had total peace about it AND I wasn't asking her to agree with my decision, but would like to know she would support me regardless. She did warm up to the idea a bit. The day b4 my surgery, while talking to her on the phone, she said she was going to call to her "nurse friend" and if she had bad things to say about the band, she was going to call me and tell me not to do it. Now, telling me NOT to do something is like saying sick-em to a dog....it doesn't sit well with me. I told her not to bother, it was a DONE deal. I had given this careful thought & prayer....I would go forward no matter what. A couple weeks ago she told me she was going to be jealous if I started losing a lot of weight. I told her it would be good for her to get motivated and I hope we could lose weight together. The bottom line with moms is that they care for us, yet sometimes their opinions are very complicated.....at least with my mom. Good luck and put trust and faith in yourself and your ability to make sound decisions for yourself. Keep your mom informed and let her know she is and will always be important in your life, but you are capable of making wise choices.

Penni ~ I just tried to send $$ via PayPal & they say that e-mail isn't registered. Do you use another e-mail for PayPal?

Stuck in throat or opening to stomach????
3loves replied to laurapar's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have this feeling as well. It is only when I take my Effexor. I used to take the capsules and had to switch to the 75 mg twice a day. The pills aren't coated and I think it may rub my throat or something of the sorts....I don't think is actually gets "stuck". Hey Laura, is it with all pills or just certain ones? If your like me, you keep drinking b/c it feels like water would help it. It does eventually go away. :phanvan -
Penni ~ I'm so glad you let us know about this. We will definitely pray for her. Please tell her we're thinking about her and want her back posting as soon as she is up to it. She adds so much to LBT. I would like to go in on the flowers. Do you take PayPal? I could also use snail mail. Let me know.

I was able to eat 2 slices of bread & butter pickles with the skin. I chewed & chewed....no problems. I don't think I would want to eat too many though. Everything in moderation.
-
Linda ~ I was going to try some turkey breast tonight.....maybe I'll hold off. I'm a bit scared after your experience. Glad to hear that you are doing better. Bless you heart....pamper yourself. Trip2beme ~ I "try" to eat slowly and stop when I'm full. Maybe I should try the timer thing to make sure I go slow. DeAnn ~ Are you only able to eat 1 oz per meal? Put a lot of thought into getting a fill if you are that restricted. Great NSV on the 3 yr old clothes....that must feel wonderful!! :biggrin1: Thanks for the info on your yard. I will pass that info along.

Better late than never..... Folks we have a super star among us. I want to give a GREAT BIG CONGRATULATIONS to mychevygirl a.k.a. DeAnn!!! She was the sole winner of the Gone for Good Club for the month of May. :clap2: What a lovely badge of honor on your signature line!!! WAY TO GO GIRL....we are proud of you!!! :whoo:  :humble: :cheer2: :)

Yep, I get this feeling too. I don't thing it is actually stuck, although it does have that feeling. I think it rubs the inside of my throat. Does anyone else know if that's possible? I hate taking my Effexor b/c of it. The pills aren't coated and I need a lot of water to get them to go down. Glad to hear I'm not alone on this.

My PCP was 100% on board however, cautioned me to think about it to make sure I was aware of the risks. He encouraged research and gave me several surgeon names to consider and contact.

Glad to hear that Julie. We haven't dealt in commercial property, but we have had to make 2 mortgages payments and that is not fun. Hang in there and we will continue to pray for God's will. Keep us posted!! Amy ~ Sounds like your grandfather is a handful. Will pray for all of you and especially for him to soften his heart and do what he needs to do to make the most of his final days. It sounds like he needs a warm loving hug.....maybe that would melt his heart.

Praying for you sweetie.....give us a update when you can!!

Personally, I would just ignore a PM like this and move on. Keep your chin up and let go of the anger this PM brought.....it's not worth it!!! Even though the person apologized, it was poor taste to say such a thing. I have my doubts that a person that is truly MO would use such language knowing the discrimination that goes along with it. Perhaps they wanted to rock the boat. Afterall, things have been going so smooth around here lately....at least from my perspective. Just let it go and know we are PROUD of your accomplishments and appreciate you and want to share in your SUCCESS!!!

So very funny!! I wonder if you were caught on a security camera?? :)

Murphles ~ HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!! :happybday: Welcome Ev22 and congratulations on 20 lbs!! That's a great acomplishment.....keep up the good work and it's nice to have you part of this group!! :welcome: faugrad ~ Great job on the 22 lbs!!! I bet you are feeling so great with the loss and working out at the gym. Don't stop now and keep on keeping on!! :update: My leg cramps have gone away since I added a small banana a day. Most of the time, I add it to my Protein shake and it makes it so yummy. Thanks for all the advice folks.....it's greatly appreciated!! I had my post-op appt today and I've lost 12 lbs since surgery. I was a happy camper and the nurse thought I was glowing....no, I'm not pregnant.....Aunt Flo came for a visit after I got home. :tired I got the green light for solid foods so I will be slowly adding to my menu. I also have a problem with eating slowly. For me, that is harder than not drinking with a meal. I have to concentrate on what I'm doing or it goes down without much thought. I have some restriction so we are going to hold off on the first fill. If I get hungry after eating solids, I can go in for a fill if needed. I never expected restriction, but I'm pleased. NO, I'm THRILLED!!! I love my band!! :clap2:

Oh Leatha ~ Your precious mother has been lifted in prayer!! I'm also praying for you and the rest of your family to have strength and peace during this terrible and difficult time. God will carry you through. Please keep us updated on her condition.

This is too much....the best laugh I've had in a while!!! :faint: I'm going to memorize that for my boys. They will love it.

CONGRATULATIONS Karen!!! I'm glad to hear your doing so well, although not surprising. I can relate to your excitement about the future being recently banded myself. :biggrin1: It does seem to give you a new found enthusiasm, doesn't it? Take care!!

Great idea for a thread....I love this!! I'm Michelle and I just turned 39 a couple of weeks ago. I will be 39 on my next bday too....you know, 39 and holding. :guess I have been married to my DH for 7 yrs (will be 7 next month) and we have 2 handsome and ornery boys ages 5 yrs and soon to be 4 yrs (that's next month too). I am a SAHM and love every minute.....that is until I temporarily lose my mind and lock my bathroom door so I can pee just ONCE by myself. Oh, we also have a chocolate lab named Malley and a cat named Gracie. Last but not least, 1 goldfish that has stayed alive. My youngest son killed the first one b/c he picked it up. :omg: Live and learn. We live in NE Indiana on approx 1.5 acres so there is plenty of room for boys to be boys. We never know what a day will hold and trust me, there is never a dull moment. I was just banded on May 26th in Carmel, IN....Indy area. Doing well with little complaints. I've lost a solid 10 lbs and I'm flirting with the scales at 11.5 lbs. My DH will get the band sometime next year. He still needs to do his 6 mos supervised diet program. It's nice to meet all of you other thirty-somethings and I look forward to getting to know you all better!! :clap2: Almost forgot....I'm a professional TPer. Count me in. I will also bring the potatoes. You should see those babies shoot out of a tail pipe of a car. Just make sure your not too close.

I kept in direct contact with the pre-d dept at my insurance company. I spoke to the same lady each time and asked her to specifically state EXACTLY what they needed and wording. My psychologist recommended me for surgery, but insurance required it to be written a certain way. It was re-written and faxed back to them. Silly, but we had to play the game. Don't be afraid to speak directly to your insurance company and someone in that dept....not the rep answering the phone. Make sure you repeat back to them what they need so that everyone is perfectly clear on the requirements. I also got a rep involved at the corporate location for the company my DH worked for. They were an advocate for me and had the ability to give the green light if necessary since we were self-funded insurance. Here is a link sharing some of my dealings with my insurance company: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=17107 It's kind of long, but maybe there is something there you will find helpful. Hang in there and play their game.....don't let them beat you. Sometimes I think insurance wants to see how dedicated a person is to getting this surgery and I bet some people do give up, which is music their ears.

Wonderful news Mandy!! So glad to hear baby John is doing so well. YEAH!!!

Waiting the hardest part!! Just remember things always work out for the best. This reminded me that I never did get back to you on the pay negotiation thing. I'll PM you. My DH just secured a new position and went through the same thing.

Carlene ~ How gorgeous!! I've never seen an Iris in that color. Looking at your avatar, it seems yellow is your color. :biggrin1:

Diane ~ I agree with Myra....wished we were closer so we could bring you some goodies and pamper you. Bless your heart!! I'll have to admit I did get a bit lost when reading the technical part, but I am so glad you have gotten help and now on the road to recovery. Good idea on pushing the fill back.....it will always be there when your ready. Keep in touch!! Marcy ~ Great job on the exercise bike!!! Keep up the good work!!!

Hey Jack ~ How much did you pay the photographer to take that pic of you?
