I know your world. I have sold new cars for 2 different dealerships during my working years....now a SAHM. BTW, I loved the poem and it's so true. I sold Cadillac & Olds in FL and then I sold Chevy & Hyundai in OH. I LOVED it and wasn't a bit intimidated by the guys. I loved showing them up. I had only been at the dealership in OH for 2 wks and was awarded the Highest Commission of the week. You should have seen those guys. It was great. I love the auto world, but it takes so much time from your personal life. If it wasn't for that aspect, I would be doing it now, it's such a rush. Most men at dealerships are pigs with a few sweeties thrown into the mix. So how many guys do you work with? How long have you been selling? You go girl and show them your stuff......sell your panties off and get those HUGE commissions!!!

:update: The head swim instructor came and talked to me this evening b4 class to let me know the YMCA is now implementing a new policy for the kids after class. Since they pick up the kids on the bleachers, the teachers will now get out of the pool and escort the students back to the bleachers. They will not be allowed to go anyway except the bleachers until their parents come to get them. She said this type of thing has never happened b4 and I was right that my son could have been at the bottom of the pool when know one knew where he was for that short period of time. I told her this is what they do at preschools and such & she definitely agreed.....she is also a mommy of 5 kids. She was really warm and friendly and has been from the start. After we talked, she stood up and announced the new policy to the parents so everyone knows what to expect. I am so thankful this policy has been officially changed as it could save a precious little life. In addition to this, I finally got my son's teacher to talk to me. She even smiled. I walked past her sitting in a chair and commented that I was glad we weren't late. She said we had plenty of time and asked if Bobby was ready. She also spoke to me again when she brought the kids down to the 10 ft Water. I hope she's warming up, but I've got my eyes on my kids. Maybe after a few more pounds, I will join my boys is the open pool. :tea: Overall, things are now going really well and I see progress each time with my boys. I'm so proud of them. :biggrin1: Sorry if that's too much bragging, they are just too cute.

Stomach bypass operation best for extreme obesity
3loves replied to Elisabethsew's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You hit the nail on the head!! :mod: In my eyes, bypass does not force you to make good choices b/c your stomach rules over your head every time. With the band, I can eat that ice cream, but it's up to me to make good choices that will last a lifetime, not just 1 yr or 3 yrs down the road. These are or should be permanent changes. I would venture to say that lapband patients have been more successful overcoming the addiction of food that the bypass patients. Maybe I'm completely off target, but that's how I see it. If I'm wrong, take me to the light. :tea: -
Stomach bypass operation best for extreme obesity
3loves replied to Elisabethsew's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I find this article very interesting (not that I would have read it outside of here) in that it is so biased to bypass and not very objective. Look at this first sentence and notice how they seem to glorify bypass and yet make the lapband seems like putting a rubber band on the stomach and that's it....end of story for the band. Although technically more challenging, laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, a common type of stomach bypass operation, provides greater weight loss in severely obese patients than does placing a plastic band around the stomach to make it smaller, new research shows. It is MORE than a plastic band and it serves a bigger purpose than to make the stomach smaller, like create a pouch that SLOWLY allows food to flow through. Let's see, they could have said a silicon band with an interior for saline fill as needed. If this article is actually based on a 30 day study, it makes it rather humorous. Come on people.....show the entire picture. What about 3 yrs later, 10 yrs later? Also, I wonder if they will do research on how surgeons educate their patients. :tea: I have a feeling a higher successful outcome would be achieved. Most of the success for a lapband patient lies within that individual, but surgeons do have a responsibility to know EXACTLY what life is like after the band and be able to prepare the patient and offer support afterward. This information is vital for patients considering weight loss surgery, Ferzli told Reuters Health, "because proper patient and procedure selection, proper follow-up, and proper long-term support are quite important in achieving the desired outcome." I'm convinced you can look the net over and find anything you want to say whatever you want to justify your view point. People need to do their own research and do what they feel is best for them. -
I wanted to quote you on this b/c I think it's important to point out that this will not go away with the band. The band does not fix the emotions and feelings we have inside. Yes, it does help with the physical hunger, but it's still up to you to work on "YOU". There have been some wonderful words of wisdom shared here and I think you realize your not alone. We have all been there or going to be at the place you are now. Be strong and realize you DESERVE this!!! BTW, I would have to tell my mom b/c she would KILL me if I had scheduled surgery without telling her. Perhaps you should give some thought to telling your mom. Maybe that would ease the loneliness.

This reminds me of the smell of corn when it's tasseled. I moved out of state in my early 20's and didn't realize that was the smell of home until I went back for a visit. We even played in the corn fields as kids. I'm proud to be a country girl!!

Fit Day or Spark People
3loves replied to *susan*'s topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I definitely prefer SparklePeople over FitDay. It's much easier to navigate. Like others, I get way too many e-mails from them. My delete button works just fine and if it gets too bad, they will go on my Blocked Sender list. -
This is a funny thread. :biggrin1: We took our dog with us for the family July 4th get together and she was given the name of "furry walrus". She really looks like a walrus with legs. She is definitely over 100 lbs and we've had her on Science Diet RD (perscription food from vet) and Wellness Weight Mgmt food. If we could only get our kids to quit feeding her. This can be her "Before" pic.

Sounds like gas to me. Do you take chewable GasX or similar? I'm not the most experienced bandster (5-26-06) so perhaps a more seasoned bandster can offer some advice. Good luck, I'm sure this is not fun for you.

Did anyone take Prophylactic Antacid like Prevacid?
3loves posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My surgeon has me taking Prevacid as a prophylactic for 3 mos. Initially, I forgot to get the script filled when we first got home and when I went back for my check-up, he asked about it. Oops, I told him I completely forgot. I told him I don't have ANY symptoms of reflux, but he said he puts all his patients on it for a 3 mos period after surgery. I'm taking it daily now, 1 pill a day. I don't have any issues with side effects and can't find any documentation via net or otherwise that would create a concern taking this med for an extended period of time. Does anyone else take a prophylactic antacid? -

Ooops....I was thinking last year when I read that. Shows that my kids are sucking my brain cells again. -
Very sorry Susan you took it like that....of course it wasn't my intention. You have brought up an excellent point though. Perhaps it is better to start a new thread instead of including the entire thread....something to definitely consider next time. However the mods would certainly have locked this thread had it been what you described. The last thing I want newbies or pre-members to think is that LBT is a place of controversy. Really, that was the reason for bumping this thread. Again, I appreciate your feedback and I still feel this is good info as I had NO idea of this until I read the thread. I lived in a small cyber-world b4 LBT.

Did anyone take Prophylactic Antacid like Prevacid?

Hi Angels ~ I think your the only one so far that was on it as a "band" prophylactic. Did you stop after 6 mos and did you find it wasn't needed after that point? -
A HUGE CONGRATULATIONS and BELATED HAPPY BIRTHDAY is in order here Kim!! You are doing awesome!! How did I miss your bday? Check your e-mail for a nice Jr surprise. :biggrin1: Wished I could physically e-mail him to you. Was it fun eating all those bad things on your bday? I will probably be the same way. Wait, I did have a piece of cake on my son's bday. Like you said, tomorrow is a new day. Janey ~ It is true you need more calories. I don't know if this is true or not, I believe a lot of the bypass patients may not be exercising as much as you are in your routine. That would explain the need to more calories. I'm interested to hear what others have to say. It can be frustrating for sure!! Hang in there!! :clap2:

Did anyone take Prophylactic Antacid like Prevacid?

Duh, why didn't I think of that? :pound: Hi Robin ~ Hope your reflux is improving. How's are you getting along with your fill? Does that cause you more problems with the reflux? -
In response to your question....I will quote my post..... I think your bringing up old issues. Let's let THAT die and keep the newbies informed. Please don't make this about OLD issues. This place has too much to offer to live in the past. Keep your eyes on the future and like I said, STAY POSITIVE. Hope that clears it up and please feel free to contact me via PM if you find it necessary to discuss this further.

Gosh, I love him too!! There is something very sexy about him. Kind of reminds me of Mandy Patikin from Chicago Hope, they self-centered surgeon. Maybe it's the attitude that turns me on. Have you seen this pic? Here's the link: http://www.bbc.co.uk/comedy/guide/articles/b/blackadderthethi_7770770.shtml

Cheating..No, not with food!
3loves replied to kimalicious's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Kim ~ Have you considered counseling? Perhaps it would be worth while for your marriage. Maybe someone can offer advice on how to find a good one. I've never been in this situation, but I can hear the hurt in your words. I hope your able to resolve any issues in your marriage quickly and thoroughly. I disagree with this statement and from the world I live in, it's incorrect. Perhaps this statement is 100% true from your world. We all have different perspectives on so many different levels. I appreciate being able to share different views in a respectable manner. As Funny has said, my DH and I do share the same religious beliefs and the same integrity in which we conduct ourselves. Oh, and the way we raise our children. That being said, it doesn't mean I think that men OR women for that matter don't cheat. It happens and I can't speak for others on here, but I can say that my DH and I have a solid marriage base on religious beliefs, integrity, honesty, trust, faith, patience, and love. We are not perfect and do fail one another, but it is the foundation we share that keeps us together. It is so much more than religion. It takes work to have healthy marriage. It takes integrity for a man OR woman to pass up the opportunity to cheat. I think it's weak to give in b/c you are just giving in to your selfishness and missing the BIG picture. -
Hey chirodana ~ Did you call your doc?

Didn't realize so many people have taken these long term. Thanks for the feedback. Hey Bettina ~ Did you get some sleep? Maybe this is what you were thinking? http://www.gourmetsleuth.com/aphrodis_foods.htm There have been numerous times I've had to read thread titles....just didn't click the first, second, third.....you get the picture. -
When does bad surgeon feedback become a dealbreaker?
3loves replied to Constance's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I feel like I'm in good company since I have it too. I'll have to remember "CRS". I'm convinced that I lost brain cells giving birth to my children and they keep sucking my brain daily. -
:bump: Bumping for newbies so they can be informed. Until this thread, I had no idea there was such a thing as a troll. Please do not take this bump as to be directed at any one person or group of people. It's simply good info. Let's keep the evil away from LBT and stay focused on helping others and seeking help ourselves. I love this community!!!

Cheating..No, not with food!
3loves replied to kimalicious's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
We have been married for 7 wonderful years and our story is a little like RLittman in that we married in our early 30's. This is the first and only marriage for both of us. We are best friends. We share so much in common, I tease him that we're inbreeders. It doesn't help that my mother will stick up for him over me any day. Makes him feel good though since we buried his mom a couple of years ago. I'm glad my mom gives him that security that only a mother can give. BTW, neither of us have ever cheated and have no intentions of ever being with anyone else. My DH is the air I breath. HOWEVER, if I did think for one minute he was cheating, I would have a PI on him like flies on cow poop. -

Drugs - What am I doing to my body?
3loves replied to BeacheeGirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
YEAH Beachee!!! I am so PROUD of you for making that call. :waytogo: I've got tears in my eyes while reading your thread. :jaw: You can do this and it was definitely meant for you to hook-up with that particular therapist. As a white girl, I have to say there are some very sexy black men out there!! :banana
