May 2006 Band Crew ~ July Chat

:welcome: It's great to have you here Barbara!! How are you'll doing? I'm at a stand-still until I can get my bowels to move. Maybe it's the cheese? I've taken some Ducolax and I hope that does the trick. I am also very sore from installing laminate flooring in our living room. My DH and I decided to save money.....how hard can it be, right? Well....I'll NEVER do that again. It's only half done at this point and we started ripping up carpet on Friday. I go to the chiropractor tomorrow to get a much needed adjustment. BTW, I started the new thread for August. Yes, it's August already. Here's the link to the new thread and we'll leave this one up for a few days. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?p=268482#post268482
  2. One of my best friends sent this to me from FL....she moved from OH and has lived there for many years now. ENJOY!! ***************************************** "Down South" means Key West "Panhandling" means going to Pensacola. You think no-one over 70 should be allowed to drive. Flip-flops are everyday wear. Shoes are for business meetings and church. No, wait, flip flops are good for church too, unless it's Easter or Christmas. Sweet tea can be served at any meal. An alligator once walked through your neighborhood. You smirk when a game show's "Grand Prize" is a trip or cruise to Florida. You measure distance in minutes. You have a drawer full of bathing suits, and one sweatshirt. You get annoyed at the tourists who feed seagulls. You get annoyed at the tourists who go swim in the ocean when it is below 60 outside. All the local festivals are named after a fruit. A mountain is any hill 100 feet above sea level. You think everyone from a bigger city has a northern accent, except anyone from California. You know the four seasons really are: almost summer, summer, not summer but really hot, and Christmas. It's not soda, cola, or pop...it's coke, regardless of brand or flavor, "What kinda coke you want?" Anything under 95 is just warm. You've hosted a hurricane party. You go to a theme park for an afternoon, and know when to get on the best rides. You pass on the right and honk at the elderly. You understand the futility of exterminating cockroaches. You can pronounce Okeechobee, Kissimmee and Withlacoochee. You understand why it's better to have a friend with a boat, than have a boat yourself. Bumperstickers on the pickup in front of you include: various fish, NRA, and a confederate flag. You were 8 before you realized they made houses without pools. You were 12 when you first met someone who couldn't swim. You understand that below North Florida is NOT considered the South. You've worn shorts and used the A/C on Christmas. You know what the "stingray shuffle" is, and why it's important! You recognize Miami-Dade as " Northern Cuba" Your Idea of happiness is 100,000 Canadians headed north with a New Yorker under each arm

    Breakstone's Cottage Cheese

Doty ~ You made me laugh out loud. Creepy Curds, huh? :Banane56: I love cottage cheese, it's a staple in my diet. Last night I had cottage cheese & tomatoes with a touch of pepper. Tonight I'm going to look for those yummy grape tomatoes b/c last night it was Roma and those skins were too tuff for me to eat.....had to eat the insides. I can see tiny green tomatoes on my plant & can't wait for them to be ready. leatha ~ There is nothing worse than runny cottage cheese. YUCKO!! Talk about creepy curds.

    I am so pissed!!

GREAT. Glad to hear your feeling better. :biggrin1: You deserve to be happy, wait you deserve to be thrilled!! I would be with much weight loss.
  5. Never, never, never. In my personal view, cheating would be pure selfishness and would clearly speak to my own personal integrity. Integrity shows in all aspects of life. Have I been selfish in my marriage, you bet I have. Not on the level of cheating. I'm talking about not fixing supper or not cleaning the house. Do we share fantasies? Yes, it's healthy in my opinion and we keep it within our own walls. Like I have said b4, my DH is the air I breath.....without him, the life would be sucked out of me. BTW, I don't understand how this happens, but I love him more today than I did yesterday. Gosh, I LOVE that man and I'm the luckiest woman on the face of the earth!!!

    I am so pissed!!

You know, if this person is doing this on a WLS site, it seems to me they may be a troll. I did not even know what one was until this thread: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=19059&page=3 Some people really do thrive off the fact that they have upset you. DON'T give them the satisfaction. Read the link above and all will become clear. This was a troll causing trouble, not someone looking for support or giving it. Can I just say :wow2: at your weight loss. I only hope to be as successful one day. Keep your chin up and don't let these kind of trolls get you down. You have better things to do with your time!!!
  7. Simmer down now, simmer down. If I find a forum ridiculous, I stay away and use my time wisely on topics of interest. I say we all the right to discuss whatever we want with any opinions and not be judged for the topic being "ridiculous". Now, this is showing respect for opinions and not pointing fingers. This is a good thing. We all have different definitions of cheating. It's not summed up by one definition. I find this thread interesting b/c there are lives that are so different. I live in a total different world than some of the people that have posted. There are some that are so close to my personal views and principles. If I didn't like the difference, I would have joined a christian site and not LBT.

Anyone ever done a 'colon cleanse' ?

I recently joined the YMCA and discovered that exercise is a good natural colon cleanser. :biggrin1:

    I am so pissed!!

I agree wholeheartedly!! The same person that judged me has been a member of just about every weight loss group and still cannot "keep" the weight off not to mention, they have used the "patch" to quit smoking. Oh, they still smoke to this day. Go figure. Oh well, I love LBT!!!

Hey Drews ~ What kind do you have? I got the shuffle b/c after Microsoft intro's their new one, the prices are going to come way down. Glad to hear you like yours so well. I will let you know how much I love mine after I get the chance to use it. The lady at Wal-Mart said she had just sold 4 of them during her shift and I got the last one b4 the one on display. I don't need an adapter afterall. My DH showed me where I can easily hook it up in the back of my computer. I wonder if other Dell owners run into this same problem....a topic for a different thread perhaps. Where are you DeAnn / mychevygirl ??? Miss you!!!

    Breakstone's Cottage Cheese

Cottage cheese pancakes....I'm going to try them. Makes my mouth water just thinking about it. BTW, I tried the Breakstone brand and didn't care for it AT ALL. YUCK. I still think Dean's is the best from what I've tried so far. Maybe I got a bad batch of the Breakstone, but will wait awhile b4 I try again. I just love Dean's so much. :hungry:
  15. Now, there's an idea!! Thanks for taking the time to share thoughts that may have an impact on someone. You have shared some very good points as many have on here. We are all from a diverse background and live in different worlds. This says it all.....

What will you do with your underwear??

We always called thongs "Butt Floss". Isn't that the purpose of them? As far as the boobs, after nursing 2 kids, this is what they look like. A lift is definitely in my future....after we're done having kids of course.

Good News.....I lost:lost3lbs:this week!!! :clap2: It feels so much better to go this direction. I didn't change my ticker last week for my 1 lb gain, I couldn't bear it so I'll only be adding 2 this week. I worked out at the Y on Thurs, Fri, Sat of last week and Tues of this week. I'm also going to workout tonight. I love it and even bought an iPod. The only thing is, it doesn't fit into my Dell USB port. I guess I need an adapter. Oh well, one more time without music and I'll have that adapter. Great job Brenda!! justduckie ~ Hey, you dropped 3 last week and were on vacation this week. I think your doing great!!! I could never do a marathon and don't care for the thought anyway.....I do admire you for taking the challenge.....you can do it!!! LindaV ~ Steady as a rock. You go girl!!! Drews ~ You lost 4 sticks of butter. Nothing to sneeze at. It will start to melt off if you stick to it the exercise. BTW, watch that ring. I took mine off and put them on a necklace. Funny lost her's b/c they fell off.
  18. A couple more pics.....I will take the camera with me tonight.
  19. Actually, my boys have always loved the Water and we bought a 10'x3' pool last year. They were in it all summer last year and some this year. My youngest has shown some fear. He makes a V when they try to get him to float....front or back. He just turned 4. He has even done this at home. I guess he's fearful of losing control for some reason. I want to thank you for prompting me to become more aware of the training. I now have a call into the Red Cross to discuss some of this issues you have brought to light.....very much appreciated!! :biggrin1: Here are some more pics.....
  20. Jenna ~ They do not use ARM floaties, it's the kind that goes around their waist. Here's what they look like and they are very loose. Are these bad too? Should I be concerned that they use these frequently? They certainly don't swim yet however, both of my boys are showing progress after only 3 lessons. I appreciate your feedback and anyone else with thoughts/experience to share. Funny ~ I bet that mom has changed her ways. I'm sure a near drowning is enough to cause anyone to make life changes.....I sure hope she did. So sad the hear you've have witnessed the loss of life b/c of Water. I'm sure it is just heartbreaking. I hope I never have to experience it whether it be mine or someone else's.

    Schwans Evil???

I had to cancel the Schwan man. My DH would certainly get something that would tempt me and I would use the kids for justification. Not strong enough for the Schwan man. :phanvan

    My late great cat "Mouse"

So very sorry for the loss of Mouse. :cry Follow your heart and I'm sure you will find the appropriate resting place for him. He will always be in your heart regardless.
  23. Oh Jenna, I have tears rolling down my cheeks. I can't imagine the horror for that mother & family as well as yourself. You have shared my deepest fear. We have a beach close to us and I refuse to take my kids w/o my DH b/c I can only watch one at a time in that type of Water. When we were smaller, we were members of a lake club and frequently went swimming with mom watching over us. There was a lifeguard, but she trusted her instincts and watched all us kids. Well, my little bro FELL off the high dive (still don't know how it happened b/c he was experienced and had done it many times) but he bounced off the deck and my mom was in the water and had gotten to him b4 the lifeguard KNEW what was going on. She was too busy talking to a friend. Lifeguards are not perfect, but their mistakes are NOT going to cause the life of my child b/c I will be there watching diligently as my mother did. I will definitely be following up on the Y thing as I will be there EVERY time watching my own kids. I'm still in shock that it took a phone call from me to change this policy. Unfortunately, I have no other options for lessons and they do use the floaties. You have prompted me to do more research on the subject and perhaps another change is in order for our YMCA. One thing I can say for them, a mistake was made and they acted upon it for the good and safety of the children. I give credit for that. This has been an eye opening experience to not be so trusting where water is concerned. Thank you for this and perhaps a life will be saved from your terrible experience.
  24. Think so huh? :huggie: Name the date & time & we'll be there!! :boxing: Great sense of humor!!

    Whiskers On Kittens

Definitely music to my ears and brings a smile and often a giggle to my own self. Too bad about your own mother though.....I understand from the threads I read. :cry Speaking of kids, have you seen this one? Too funny and so true of kids.
