Woke up, less of a cough. Just ear pain. Got dressed in my Slytherin shirt, capris that have got me through a lot, and flip flops. Trying not to freak. All those with surgery in the next week GOOD LUCK!

Been using asthma inhaler non stop. I mean when I get stressed I get sick. And between the issues getting lovenox prescribed and other things, ended up being sick and that is no surprise. I cannot sleep. Earache, cough quieted but I am worried, nasal gone away. Praying they dont cancel or postpone. Have to be there latest 6am tomorrow. Fingers crossed and so so anxious!

No spirometer. At NYU Brooklyn AKA Lutheran tomorrow. Wanted Manhattan campus but my mom would not have an easy time getting to/from. So out of respect, Lutheran it was. Coughing it all out sucks but i know it is there just thank God it is not showing infection!

I am crazy impatient too!

So tomorrow is my day, with a hiccup. I think I got sick when I went to do the pre-op testing last week. So here is hoping this chronic cough of mine is not a wheeze and that any upper-respiratory is gone. Can't AFFORD to postpone. Make or break tomorrow 5:45 AM (1st on list). PLEASE LET IT GO THROUGH!

It is more the cough I am worried about. Likely have mild COPD so have a chronic cough... but if there is wheezing that is new and may postpone!!! I guess I can chug fluids until 6pm which is when I have to go nil by mouth but... I don't know!

Did anyone else get sick literally right before their surgery date? I am TOMORROW but I think I caught a bug when I went for pre-op testing (it was at the hospital) so didnt show symptoms until Thursday. All that is left is an earache (ow) and cough which is chronic for me....but I am worried they will cancel tomorrow morning! I am already off work, and would need a note to return at least a week before, and have been on shots (expensive). I don't think I can handle if they postpone!

Mmmm....august 6th for me. And despite doing well on 1st week of preop diet...I am struggling. Hard.

Hello again everyone! So here is an update. Just finished my pre-testing. 1 WEEK TO GO!!! I am down to 146 kg which is ~322 lbs. From ~350 lbs the week before, day 1 of the pre-bariatric diet. Thank you for the support and my griping about the diet and concerns. I do not know if I hit ketosis... I did sneak an american cheese slice and rotisserie chicken yesterday...but otherwise 4 shakes and cabbage soup x2 with some ice and sugar free jello. I guess because I used to drink soda and juices and eat a ton of carbs, this is working. I am still having some bumps with my medications that different doctors do not want to advocate for to get them to write the prescription (lovanox), but that is just a bump... and I may freak out by Wednesday if not resolved. Surgery so far still on for the 6th...

I was told the hunger subsides after first few days to a week. I am on day 4. We can both do this!

It is nerves because now, it is real. Remember your goals (my surgery is the day before yours). Feeling better about yourself, becoming healthier, and any other personal goals should be the long term. Yes, it is real now. Nerves are natural.

I feel so inadequate now not knowing my calorie count... Ours looks similar but I think my shakes have more fat, or some of the brands do. I have a mix of brands because flavor boredom. How soon did you go into ketosis to shrink the liver? Are there any signs? Anyone know?! (anxious now that I think I am doing this wrong!!!)

So, this pre-op liquid diet.... I think I am messing up because I am not in ketosis...or i don't think i am? 1 2cup serving of cabbage soup (cabbage, tomato juice, lemon juice, splenda) 1 2cup serving of chicken broth with half a lemon and pepper 4 protien shakes with 2g or less sugar in each. 1 serving of sugar free jello I am horrible at drinking so maybe I am messing up there?

If you look back at my posts...same thing. But apparently they submitted 2.5 weeks before surgery date. 1.5 weeks before preop date. So... here is to hoping same happens for you! Remember you can call your insurance and ask for an expedited review.

Insurance approved surgery for 8/6. Day 3 of pre-bariatric diet and I still do not think in ketosis. Getting closer!

Smoking... uh... yeah.... since I am home and not eating, i am TRYING not to smoke.....but....

Mine is scheduled Aug 6th too. Started my pre-op today too.... and... it is going okay. Had 4 shakes and cabbage soup today (cabbage, lemon juice, tomato juice, splenda - only 1 pint a night). Did cheat slightly... had my leftover from yesterday sauteed spinach with garlic and lemon Sitting here right now thinking i want something but I didnt make my sugar free jello yet!!!!. Yeah, it is discouraging. But... I was told by my primary doctor's office that actually they do not submit until about a week or so before your scheduled date, typically around the time of pre-testing. So I am still hopeful and will check back next Tuesday (as my pre-op is monday). Also, you can call your insurance and ask for an expedited review. 48 hours.

So, I am scheduled for 8/6/18 with NYU Dr. Schwack. I start the 2 week liquid diet 7/23/18 (and am also off work FMLA!!!!!). I do not know if it has been submitted to insurance yet. The surgical coordinator is hard to reach so I am getting super anxious, and no one is telling me anything. All of a sudden I am scheduled for pre-op testing.... but no one is telling me if it is submitted to my insurance yet! I am getting more and more anxious as time goes on, inching to 7/23, then 8/6... Hi everyone, thank you for responding. Glad to see i am not alone in the difficulties reaching out. Yes, FMLA paperwork needs to be completed by July 6th as per my job for a leave date of 7/23. The insurance papers are not submitted yet for 8/6 date because they are still submitting July surgery date approval requests. In other words, after 2 emails and a phone call or two, I got a response to my email and a promise to follow up next week... Anxiety still through the roof but a little better. Now just the regular jitters of omg can I follow this 2 week pre-bariatric liquid diet without dying! Thanks all!!

Hello! So I have been trying to get the sleeve and finally everything is in. All doctors and tests. But my job needs a doctor letter and I am unsure if the paperwork has even been submitted to insurance. I call the coordinator and email the documents.... no response and no confirmations. I am so worried and I cannot sleep without thinking this is all going to fall through. It is so hard to reach the coordinator and she may be going out on leave soon. I am a person who needs confirmation but... I never know with this coordinator. And I worry that everything will fall through...because I could not connect with the necessary persons.

Unfortunately my place of work wants it by at least 14 business days prior to date of leave.
