Gastric Sleeve Surgery is it painful?

It depends on who you are and your pain tolerance level. I hurt for about a month took lots of pain meds prescribed by the doc and a lot of antacids. I did not feel like myself till about six months later. It just all depends every person's experience is different. But it was well worth it!!!!!
  4. You should be ok just make sure you have enough pain meds in case you start to feel bad. Make sure and keep a lot of antacids in case you start to get heartburn.

    Struggling 4 Days Out

The first few weeks are the worst. I remember laying in the hospital bed in pain. It does get better. I am two years out and there are still foods that I miss eating. I would love to eat a piece of fried chicken or a hamburger with tater tots. After the surgery, my body does not like those types of foods anymore. It has been a hard journey but I am much healthier and happier than I have ever been in my whole life. I am able to walk without pain in my knees and I can move around a lot better now.
  6. It is really really really hard the first few months are the worst. I remember my first few months were the worst I would lay there thinking why did I do this to myself???? It was awful at first but it does get better EVERYONE goes through that just try and push through.

  8. Everyone goes through this it is very normal. Just try to stay positive it gets better. A lot of it is fighting through and getting over the hump. It is hard your body has gone through a huge adjustment. 😊

Has anyone kept their surgery a secret?

The only one that knows is my husband. I did not tell anyone else. I needed to deal with my own emotions and not with everyone's emotions. Their opinions, what they think, etc......

    Stigma with WLS

I applaud you for being vulnerable and telling others. I didn't tell anyone except my husband. I didn't want to hear everyone's opinions. People are always going to have opinions both positive and negative. Try to focus on yourself and do what is best for you.

    Pre-op diet question. Please help!

Talk to your doctor and see if he can change your diet. You need to mentally prepare yourself. After surgery your life will change forever. It is not going to be easy. All of the good stuff you are used to eating is not going to be an option. If you eat something after surgery you are not suppose to it could make you very very very sick.

    Regrets???

My only regret is that I miss warm chocolate chip cookies with a tall glass of milk.

    Sleeved yesterday!

My gas was really bad. I had my husband literally burp me like a baby and rub my back and shoulders. This helped to release some of the gas. For me it took a couple of weeks before the gas pain went away. Hope you feel better soon.

    Wife not Supportive

My husband was against me having surgery. I explained to him how my weight was hurting my health and damaging my body. I took him to all my doctor's appointments and educated him about the surgery. He eventually came around and was very supportive. Good luck I wish you well.
