Hmmm. ?? I have told everybody once I was approved. Did not want to tell before cause if the surgery got denied it would have been awkward. NOT ONE HAD A BAD REACTION. And I posted it on my Facebook too. Option 1: I have very good friends Option 2: none of my friends cared Option 3: I was/am so fat that nobody even thinks I could do it any other way Option 4: they all fear my wrath. 4 can’ t be cause I am really nice. There was one negative person. My brother but we hate our guts for 40 years so that does not count. But I am prepared if I encounter this. I will eventually because I will tell everybody. I have the right answers and a link to a NYT article ready to send. Don’t reject people because they are ignorant and don’t know better. Educate them. I don’t want to loose friends cause they don’t agree with me. I had the same thoughts years ago when I still thought I could loose weight through diet. Now after intense research preop and continuing I am prepared to counter any stupid thing with knowledge. But I have a very strong emotional Wall I built around me due to the fact that growing up in Germany in the 70s, nobody around me was overweight and people stared. So I just stopped caring.

Just wondering how long did you stay in the hospital?
Eberhard replied to Redapples's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
4 nights. Apparently that is long compared to others. I was so dehydrated after surgery that I had an IV connected the whole time. On day 2 even 2 IVs for a few hours. I was so freaked out about the first week that this was a blessing for me. Had my own room and a TV and if anything was wrong I could call somebody. I was glad. I would have freaked out at home alone. -
Had some cold brew the other day. Thought the less acid coffee would work but it really agitated my heartburn. Only had a few sips. Will try again in 3 month. I miss the ritual of having a fresh cup of coffee in the morning but I guess I can do without.

I had to take 2 PPIs before surgery. After I got 1 different PPI. My heartburn started after 4 weeks and got bad so I asked him to give me 2. It worked great. Now I feel fine. Tried some cold brew coffee the other day and it triggered my heartburn. So no coffee for me.

What Nibble said. Put on gown and socks. IV. moved to the Surgery room. They turn the Propofol on. You are gone within seconds You wake up in recovery Your doctor visits and tells you what he found or did not find. You can go home Throat might hurt. I had 3 in my life and only once I could feel a sore throat. And you need somebody to drive you and take you home. Theoretically watch you for 24 hours. My doc said that some people have partial amnesia for awhile and turn stoves on and forget.

What did you have to do for hospital discharge?

I was in the hospital for 4 days. Did not have Morphin. When I had pain I got liquid hydrocodone which I did not need after day 2. I brought sweat pants and slip on shoes. Just put those on when I was supposed to walk and used the gown as a shirt tucked in. Was always connected to an IV. Had to call the nurse when I went to the bathroom. They recorded the amount and color every time. Walked twice a day where I took a round in the hallway. Bring a phone charger. With an extension or a very long cable. NO bring two. I dropped my phone and ripped my cable on day one. Had to beg the nurses for a charge daily. -
Purée days - how do you get enough protein?
Eberhard replied to ValerieLynn's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks.... I will try ground turkey next time I go to the store. 3 days... Weird. I had to wait 2 weeks for pureed food. (yesterday it started). Now that I can, I really don't care about eating. -
Low Acid coffee is cold brew. You can make it yourself or buy it at the grocery store. My local "Grocery Outlet" has a liter for 99 cents and it tastes pretty good. You can warm it up again and is so smooth. total difference but still good.

I really did not have any pain the next day after surgery. Was so happy about that. The only place was where they fixed my hiatal hernia abut only when I took a deep breath. Stopped taking Pain meds on day 3. They kept me in the hospital for 4 1/2 days due to problems getting enough water in and I ws so happy about that. Had a huge single room and all my needs were attended by the nurses. When I got home I was very well and could even sleep on the side. When I had my Gall bladder out 4 years ago I could not sleep on my side for more than 2 weeks.

Purée days - how do you get enough protein?
Eberhard replied to ValerieLynn's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You can have meat? They told me fish only. Can I have meat??? :-O -
Was sleeved Monday 2 weeks ago. I have had Gout for about 10 years but had it perfectly under control with Allopurinol and if I had a flare up with Colchicine. Have not had a major attack in several years. Prior Surgery I asked my doc about my gout and he even said that this could cure it. Now.... last week I had my first attack. Not bad. At a place on my foot that did not hurt under pressure. Got better the next day but is still there when I move my toe in a certain angle. Today I got another one on my other foot. Again I am lucky and I can walk but this one is more noticable. I am still taking Allopurinol. Crushed. I got Colchicine from my PCP but he does not know much about such surgeries and I am not sure I can take that or even crush it. That stuff is poison and I have great respect of the stuff. Anybody have any experience? Can't have juice yet (sugar), or drink more water (I do my best). I am really afraid of a huge major attack that will prevent me from walking. Had that years ago and do NOT want to experience this again.

Catheter During Surgery?
Eberhard replied to California joe's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was not given one and I was really relieved. But I doubt it would be a big deal cause they put a camera in there 2 years ago and that freaked me out but was nothing really. But I know where you are coming from.
