    One Week Cigarette Free!

You’re KIDDING ME 😂 I’m from Clifton Park! I’m going through Samaritan Bariatric and Metabolic with Dr. McDonald! What a freaking small world!!

    One Week Cigarette Free!

I’m in NY too!! Not only has everyone banned smoking near EVERYWHERE, but the cigarettes are also outrageously expensive 😂 mine were almost $13 a pack 😫 I’m so glad to be on the other side of it now

    Sliders

Oh I am learning so much from this site... I never knew what a slider was until literally right now haha. I’m still pre-op so..... everything’s a slider 😭😳 #allthefood

    One Week Cigarette Free!

You’re a doll!! Thank you for the tips. I am 26 and have smoked for 8 years, and I felt the same way about quitting!! I thought it was going to be the worst thing EVER. It really hasn’t been so bad though! I cleaned out and organized and deep cleaned my entire house the first two days just trying to keep busy 😂 my surgeon does nicotine tests, so I chose not to use any quitting aides for fear of prolonging my wait! I just told myself to buckle the hell up and hold on tight, and here I am hahaha. I don’t drink often, but I am dreading that first time out with friends when I know there will be people around that I can bum one off of 😫 that’ll definitely be tough for me.

    One Week Cigarette Free!

I hated the smell of smoke even when I smoked!! I can’t wait to hit the two week milestone, let alone six months! Good for you. Every time I hear someone say that they used to smoke, I feel so proud of them even if I’ve never met them 😂 it is NOT for the weak!

    One Week Cigarette Free!

Oh no!!! Thanks for reminding me 😂😂 I’m giving up nicotine, caffeine, alcohol, AND FOOD!! Insane haha but 100% worth it for long-term health

    One Week Cigarette Free!

Thank you so much for the support, guys. I’m in the minority because I really don’t even know anyone else that smokes! None of my family or friends do, which makes it a bit easier for me. It also stinks though because, since I hid it from so many people, I have no one to tell that I quit!!😂 That’s why I came here haha I needed a pat on the back, because I’m really proud of myself and feel so great! I can actually breathe, everything tastes and smells so much better, and I’ve saved over $60 in just a week!
  8. Hi all! This is my first post as I am in the very beginning stages of my weight loss journey! I am almost positive that I will be approved for surgery, as my BMI is 41 and I know that my insurance covers it. I am hoping to have gastric bypass done, however I am concerned about the amount of time that I’ll have to take off of work. I currently work in a hospital as an emergency room technician. I know that most people are out of work for a couple weeks at most, however my job consists of a lot of heavy lifting! I am always transferring patients, pushing stretchers and wheelchairs, lifting people, etc. I am in a financially comfortable place at the moment, however I’m concerned that I will not be if I have to take a month off of work! Are there any other healthcare professionals out there who have been through this? Just wondering what kind of weight restrictions you had to deal with. I will obviously be talking this through with my surgeon, but I wanted to ask the peanut gallery as well 😉

    Hey guys I’m new here

At the seminar I attended, someone asked about weed after surgery (I was like omg thank you) and my surgeon shrugged and said it would be recreationally legal soon (I’m in NY) and it’s different than cigarette smoke so it’s not as harmful and doesn’t run as big a risk for reflux or ulcers! He said he doesn’t encourage it, but that his patients who do smoke post-op have said they don’t even get the munchies anymore! I thought that was so fascinating and had to share haha

How long before I can return to work?

This seems to be the general consensus 😫 I can see the benefit of waiting it out and taking advantage of the resting period. Especially because there really is no such thing as light duty in a hospital 😉 I can only take so many vitals and collect so many specimens... it’s only a matter of time before an immobile patient has a code brown and I’m the only one available to do a complete bed change. Definitely wouldn’t want to overdo it and hurt my new stomach! Thanks so much for the input, this really has been my biggest concern of all!

How long before I can return to work?

Bummer!! That’s what I was afraid of lol. I will be so bored if I’m stuck at home for a month 😳
