HI Janice, Scherry here I was banded Dec. 28, 2005 in Houston Texas Dr Spiegel. I also go to Weight Watchers and have been for over a year, that's my support group like you said the band is only a tool. I am 2.6 lbs from my goal. It's been slow but good I've had my problems adjusting to what I can and can't eat but I can at least have a bit of anything I want. I also have been going to Curves for over a year. I've lost 91 lbs to day. I'd love for us to be e-mail buddies. Scherry in Texas

very bad gas in shoulder and a question
Kozy Kitten replied to fitzgerald's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I hate to tell you but I have been banded over 10 months and when I eat to much about 30 minutes later I get the pain in the left shoulder. Some times the band doesn't stop me from eating and I don't know I'm so full until the pain starts then it's to late. I walk around and move my arm up and down what ever I can I'm sure it's just gas but in the left shoulder it's strange. -
For VG 10 cc Bandsters ONLY

Carol, I know how you feel about not having enough time to eat slow. I was told a little trick because I had such a hard time eating slow and taking small bites. It was suggested to me to eat with a baby spoon or fork and it really works for me. I cut my meat (use moist dark meat) into small pieces and i use my baby fork and spoon to eat with. Normally it only takes about 10 small bites and I'm full. I do eat 5-6 small meals a day. Good luck -
For VG 10 cc Bandsters ONLY

Carol, It sounds like you are very tight but fighting it. You need to eat your meat first little bites and slowly that's what fills you up. Meat sets in your pouch much longer and then if you still can handle it take a bite or two of veg. You are eating foods that go down easy and you probably won't lose weight very good eating this way. Once you lose your weight you will be able to eat more normal foods. Good luck. -
For VG 10 cc Bandsters ONLY

I also have a VG band I have had 10 fills I'm at 10cc My doctor has an assistant that gives fills unless you have problems I was told when I hit 10cc that she (the assistant) could not give me any more I have to see the doctor. I'm wondering has anyone ever reached their limit? I was told by the assistant what they do is take it all out and wait about a week and start all over again. I'm lucky right now the 10cc is perfect if I eat my meat first I can only eat 5 or 6 bites and a bite or two of veg. a little more in the evening. I'm losing about 1 LB a week. I would love to stay this way for ever. -

Cashley I tried to cut and paste some abreviations I got from someone but it won't let me. But if you go to the main page and scroll down to the bottom and look for FAQ's & References click on that and the second Sticky says Abbreviatons & what they mean these helped me understand.

Do any of your Dr's (other than Jayaseelan) require 7 days liquid post fill?
Kozy Kitten replied to Firecallie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Dr. Spiegel tells you for the first 3 days after fill to do liquids and the next 3 days soft foods. -
December Bandsters: First Fill Yet?
Kozy Kitten replied to phazer08's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had surgery on 12/28 lost 13 lbs in 4 weeks and I could eat anything but tried not to. I had my first fill 01/24 it really did make a difference couldn't really tell until the 2nd day after the fill. I have always been a fast eater and I'm having a really hard time breaking that habit if I swallow to fast and haven't chewed well enough it gets stuck in my chest between my breast and the pain is awful. I have thrown up a few times because of this but tried not to put much pressure on my stomach. There's a learning curve and I was told we all go though it I'm getting better at taking smaller bits and chewing really well.
