Hi all. I am 49. I want to be in onederland before my 50th b-day in Feb. I am almost 2 months out. I get my 1st fill next week. It is driving me nuts not getting a fill yet. Had a mix up at the Dr.s office last time I was in to see him for my 6 wk. check up. Thought I was getting a fill then, But due to a miscommunication between the secratary and me I was'nt scheduled like I thought. So I am chomping at the bit (and anything else that lands in my mouth) needless to say. I have started low-carbing it and writting down my intake. I want to loose at least 5 more before I get my fill next week. Good luck to yall. Look forward to knowing ya.

Swimsuit pictures!!! For all you daring bandters
gone 4 ever replied to GDC's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
so where is your bathing suit pic? I don't have one. I don't know how to swim.. When I get to goal I am joining the Y and taking lessons. :biggrin2: -
Welcome Mongie.... So sorry your hubby isn't supportive and very insensitive. The band is a permanent fixture. It is a tool that helps you eat less. It is not a fix right away. You loose some pre-op and post-op. But until you get your fills and hit your "sweet spot" for restriction it is up to you to eat right. Will you get to eat normal again... it depends on the person. There are some foods people have trouble with after banding. But not everyone has trouble with these foods. Rice, bread, and Pasta seem to be the most common. I can't eat rice, I can eat bread and pasta. But don't like bread anymore. My taste has changed some since getting the band. I am really happy with the band. I think it is the best money I have ever spent. (other then my home). When you get to goal you maintaine. If you start to gain you go back and get a fill. Just check out the many threads on this site. It explains a lot. good luck. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Welcome and good luck on your journey.. It is perfectly natural at this point not to be really hungry.n Your swollen on the inside... So don't be discouraged when later you start to eat like you did before banding. You might also gain a little wight back. That is also common before getting fills and hitting your sweet spot. Just make sure you are drinking enough. We will look forward to your posts. -
Congrats on your decision. You are self pay, so you can have whatever procedure done you want. If your Dr. say's no then say bye bye. There is a thread on here for amout of weight you have to loose. Go check it out! Coose which catagory that you need and read! It is on the left side of the home page little past 1/2 way down. good luck

What a wonderful b-day present to oneself!

Welcome Want2b... Have you started your process yet? I am very happy with my band. Like you I have been overweight my entire life. I am 49. I was banded on May 13, 08. I have lost 15lbs. so far. I was at a stale mate for 2 weeks and didn't loose anything. Then I realized I was doing what I have told other people, I was'nt eating enough calories. My body thought it was in starvation mode. So I adjusted that. This is a wonderful tool. You still have to work it, but now I have help. Good luck with your journey. Keep us posted.

gone 4 ever replied to armywife4life's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My dietician told me that post-op to drink as much as possible. It helps with the healing process and hunger. Your doing fine. Good luck with your journey. -
How come the weight isn't coming off?
gone 4 ever replied to Jami Victoria's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you eating enough calories? If your not then your body goes into saving mode. It thinks your starving, so it slows way down on matabalism.(sp) I think your weight loss is awsome! As far as foods go.. do you have trouble with other foods, like getting stuck or what? Maybe chew more. I have a problem of not chewing enough and I know it! I hope your problem improves and you can eat more foods. Good luck. -
Full liquid ideas please anyone...
gone 4 ever replied to rcruz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Get yourself some protien drinks,if you are allowed heavy liquids. If not then get chicken Soup, veggy beef soup and strain them and drink the broth from them. Save the noodle and veggies for later use. Or give to your family. I froze mine and am using them in different things now. -
Lack of support anyone? Friends anffamily not really "happy" about your choice?
gone 4 ever replied to Illiana's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congrats on your band Don't let them get to you. O.K. No problems with my family members being unhappy about it. Just the opposite.. I may not tell some people because I don't know them well or feel it is their bussiness. But my sis and her hubby tell everyone! It is because they are proud of me. But still it can be irritating. These people I did'nt say anything to start questioning everything I put into my mouth. I haven't had a fill yet and I am getting tired of explaining to people. I am getting where I tell then to come check out the web site so they can learn more. Seems to help in some cases. But my kids won't tell anyone and won't hardley question me at all. I have them look at the site. I explain to them ins and outs of the band. I think they are relieved when they go home. LOL Get away from the crazy LB lady. -

Severe shoulder pain
gone 4 ever replied to sunflower00's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi sunflower...Congrats on your banding! I would roll my shoulders. Roll 1 then the other. Do this about 10x then reverse and then do them together. That helped me. My dr. said to lay on the floor or bed with feet against the wall/headboard then pull legs towards you..kinda like pooping a baby that is constipated.. Also get Gas-X strips. Hope this helps you. Good luck on your journey. -
I know I'm being dumb....
gone 4 ever replied to MicheleK's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You might want to talk to your Dr. about your smoking. A lot of Dr.s won't do the surgery unless you quit smoking. I haven't had a cig since september. I had to use chantrix. worked great. But check to make sure. good luck -
Is moving away the last stage of recovery?
gone 4 ever replied to Manatee's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hello Manatee...I have seen your picks..youre a Hunk! You look great! But yes what Elise said about womens conversations always turning to weight is true. So if you are around women all the time grin and bare it. If it is men just turn the conversation around to something else. By the way are you from Huntsville, Al? In one of your pics I thought I reconised something. Take care and congrats on your loss. -
Sorry to hear about your problem..Try prunes/prunejuice. Also try apple juice. Hope this helps

By FDA weight chart I should weigh app.95 lbs. I am 4'10. But my goal weight is 135. You have the band for help. It is a tool. Some people never learn how to use the tool the correct way. Some are unwilling to really change. There are a lot of different things that factor into that % of weight loss. I personally look at all the good things about the band...I am loosing weight..I am getting healthier...I am learning a new life style..I am growing with my shrinking...I am a better person for my choise.(sp)...If I loose 50 or 150 I am happy, I have lost. Good luck with your journey.
