2 weeks post op - sharp shooting pain
Buonnatale replied to Bobbiep's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It could very well be from the surgery but I would have your surgeon check you. It could be appendicitis -
Numbness in Outer Right Thigh After Surgery
Buonnatale replied to Lazarus Bishop's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had the same issue. The surgeon told me it was due to the position I was in on the operating table. It went away by my one month checkup -

Introduction from a newbie
Buonnatale replied to Gingertastic's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have the same issue with plain water... I used to love it but now, I get a heaviness when drinking it. Crystal light helps a lot. I know they push fluids but early on, I had issues taking in that much. I was bloated and uncomfortable from forcing fluids, my surgeon told me not to force liquids... I felt a million times better after that. Im 6 weeks post op and still can get in all my protein. The shakes have the same effect as plain water... its too heavy. My bariatric coordinator said the first 3 months is when u are really going to lose the weight so I should enjoy not having an appetite now. -

Experiences with Phentermine?
Buonnatale replied to RellaBelle's topic in GLP-1 & Other Weight Loss Medications (NEW!)
Phentermine will help you lose weight fast... if you can deal with the side effects. Every woman I know who took it was a raging witch on it, including myself. I second that it is basically speed. After so many months, your body gets used to it and it loses its effectiveness. WLS is by far more successful long term than phentermine -
I felt the same way you did... I remember looking at my husband a week after surgery, crying my eyes out, asking him what did I just do to myself. I never thought I would feel emotional after the surgery. I honestly think the trauma of the surgery itself is more than just physical as I am not typically emotional like that. No worries... you will get through this and will start to have a more positive outlook. I think this is a natural part of healing so soon after surgery. Its coming to terms with the fact that your lifestyle has changed... for the better :). Good luck to you and congrats on your amazing weight loss!

My first cycle post op was a painful one. I found if I stayed ahead of the pain by taking Tylenol, perfectly timed, that it was definitely manageable. I just don’t think its worth the risk to end up with a marginal ulcer.

I slept in a recliner the entire time in the hospital and for about 1.5 weeks after I returned home. Im a stomach sleeper so I completely understand. The doctor gave me Ambien to get me through that period because I could not sleep at all. I started slowly getting back on my stomach by using pillows to prop myself onto my side.

Unfortunately for me, I have several family members who chose to talk about my surgery, without my permission, to several people. Now everyone knows! Im honestly quite angry about it but there is nothing I can do at this point. If I were you, I would just say you are low carbing ;). Most people will accept that answer and not continue to prod you for more details! Congrats on the weight loss!!

Sick of liquids, haven’t lost a pound
Buonnatale replied to Dfox1984's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I gained weight during the first week post op... It definitely was due to swelling and all the iv fluids... Hang in there, it will start melting off soon! -
Dont stress too much... I tried to force fluids and protein and ended up bloated and miserable. i expressed my concerns with my surgeon and he said to not worry about it and to cut back. I dont think they expect you to get al of that in during the first few weeks... thats what they told me

I purchased protein water from Sam’s... I had the same issue with Premier shakes... its just seemed way too heavy for me. The water has been doing well for me

This statement is frust8-ing... Lets keep politics out or the forum for one! Second, PCOS can easily be overcome with diet and exercise so please keep your negativity to yourself... Thanks

What state are you from? I have PCOS and am self pay. I found an amazing surgical group that is reasonably priced for self pay

I bought and iced coffee about a week and half after surgery. Not thinking, I took two sips out of the straw and immediately felt my stomach inflate. It took me a couple seconds to realize what I did... needless to say, I learned my lesson lol

I’m constantly repeating myself on this topic to people who don’t understand. If going through this process is “easy”, I sure as hell would hate to see the “hard” way. Believe me, as I sit here having just eaten pureed avocado, I would love to shove a pizza down my throat BUT, I did this to better myself and I have come to terms with the fact that I no longer need to eat the pizza to feel satisfied. It doesn’t take away your desire to have the fatty, sugary foods. If anything, you have no choice but to have the willpower to carry on... the alternative is misery.

I lost nothing for a week post op. As a matter of fact, Im pretty sure I gained a lb. i went to my one week appt and cried my eyes out when they weighed me. The doctor explained that it will come off... the following week I was down 10 lbs and have lost 25 lbs post op so far...now Im at the dreaded 3 weeks stall... Believe me, I know its hard. I told my husband that I wish I could fast forward to a year from now lol.

Oh wow! That’s terrible! I hope you are on the mend now!

I slept in the recliner. It was much easier. I never tried the pregnancy pillow but I did sleep in the recliner in the hospital and for a week after I got home. I told the doctor at my first appt. that I was having trouble sleeping and he was nice enough to prescribe me Ambien which helped me immensely
