    July Gastric Bypass?

I'm 2 weeks out today. I actually sat in a recliner a lot in the hospital, I was so uncomfortable in the hospital bed. Best wishes to you as you recover!

    July Gastric Bypass?

I'm 1 week post op. Doing well as of Monday, the first days were rough for me... I had migraines on top of recovery pains. Cleared to drive now and go back to work tomorrow. I'm excited to get back into a routine. The way I eat and drink now is so different. I didn't know what to expect. Still on liquids, protein shakes and thin/pureed foods like cereals and soups. Next week will be a transition to the next stage. Best wishes to you as you prepare for this new change.

    July Gastric Bypass?

Day 5 Post Op --- How are all you Post Op's doing? I had hoped to be doing better than I am. I've had migraines and low grade fevers and just pain. Not that I've been miserable this whole time, but I'm looking forward to feeling better! Today has probably been the best day so far. But I am struggling to get all my fluids in. I have some discomfort when drinking water. Anyone else?
  4. Hi, Kristina! Your surgery date was same as mine. Hope you're doing well!

      Ah, thanks for reaching out!

I'm doing pretty good. Days are good and bad. Yesterday was miserable because I had a migraine that just made everything hurt worse. In fact, I've had migraines since Thursday. So far none today.

I'm walking a lot, but it's hard to get all the water and food in that I need.

      How are you doing?

I'm so sorry about the migraine, I had one in the hospital and it was just misery on top of misery. I hope you're on the mend from them. I agree that the water and food are hard to get in. I've started journaling everything in a notebook so I can hopefully keep better track of it and remind myself of what I need to do.

I'm still a little sore but so much better than Wednesday. Heading to the movies this afternoon and really excited to get out of the house! Take care!

    Surviving the liquid diet

I'm on day 8 of my pre op diet. Mine is a little different because I'm using meal supplements from my weight loss center and then I am allowed 1 meal which consists of 4-5 ounces of lean meat and 1 cup of non starchy vegetables. This was an easier choice for me because I didn't trust I'd do well with trying to figure out all I could and couldn't have so having pretty much everything planned out for me was a less stressful plan during a stressful 2 weeks. It has definitely been hard and I've wanted all kinds of things. At first I thought this was terrible timing because of the holiday and all of the gatherings revolving around food, but this has ended up being a good trial for what things might look like after surgery. I also started to experience dizziness around day 2 and 3. I worried at first but I had a scheduled visit with my surgeon and she said dizziness is normal. My surgery is in one week and this diet is getting a little easier each day. I think I just miss eating more than actually being hungry.
