November 2018 Sleevers!?!?
Linda Cooney replied to Sealeafi's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Having survived a number of abdominal surgeries, take care of you first for a while. That chore will likely not go away, don’t lift anything you don’t have to, and follow the food directions. So glad it went well for you. -
November 2018 Sleevers!?!?

I had pre-op and pay the doc and hospital day yesterday. Initially thought I was being stalked then realized she was probably just on the same journey. Turns out we are surgery twins for upper endoscopy, chest X-ray, ekg, and ultrasound. Both have surgery on 19tg and we both work in education. Turned her on to the app, it has been very informative -

November 2018 Sleevers!?!?
Linda Cooney replied to Sealeafi's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had to put up a fight with the doctors office staff, but I finally got a date the week of Thanksgiving. Sine I’m also having both knees replaced in the Spring, and I’m in education, as well, my FML will only cover the knee surgeries. Being mindful. Good luck and please keep me updated as you go. I’ll be at Houston Northwest Medical Center. Is Houston ISD with TRS, as well? My OFP is $5k + 20%. -

With 28 pages, hard to read them all or remember what I’ve read. Do I have a November 19 surgery twin on topic? -

Just got my date for Nov 19; it’s starting to get real now. Ordered protein water from amazon. Stocked up on broth and jello. Ultrasound of the gall bladder and upper endoscopy and pre/op this week. Start diet next. Yeah! -
Pre-Op Journey
Linda Cooney replied to hwequestrian's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just got insurance approval on Friday; hoping to get a date this week. My only health issues are two failing knees that need replacing. Supposed to start that in the spring, if I can make it that long. Sux to get old. Bariatric surgery is my birthday present to me -
If you had been in a doctor managed diet program for a consecutive period and provided those medical notes, they would waive the nutrition classes for the tome you had been in the program. Had to have been within the last two years.

Pick something loose to come home in and you won’t care whether or not your have them on until you go home. Ask for two hospital gowns. Wear one correctly and the other like a bathrobe

Just be careful out there. If I were to think of dating again, I’d have an online search app that told me a little about their past before I’d meet a stranger

I Feel Like My Surgeon's Office Is Stringing Me Along
Linda Cooney replied to Boldilocks's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The wait has been grueling. My nutritionist was stranded in NY for one of my appointments and we conducted it by phone. But, then, she also forgot to tell me that if I gain as much as 1 pound during the nutrition phase, my insurance might turn me down. I passed, though with my deteriorating knee joints, I’d been gaining an average of 5 pounds per month. I think every doctors office does it a little differently. Mine only requires a 2 day pre-op diet, while most require 2 weeks. Good luck on your journey. -
November 2018 Sleevers!?!?

Beware....Rant Rave. This whole process has taken longer than it took for me to custom order my Mini Cooper, have it built in England, shipped across the pond to America, and hauled to Texas. I need both knees replaced and started the bariatric process in June, out of pocket in anticipation of choosing the higher end insurance at reenrollment time. I though to myself....Linda, take the weight off and that will help....it’s October and I just now finished classes. The Dr will submit within two weeks and then Aetna has to approve. My out of pocket, with insurance, is $5k for surgeon alone and my orthopedic surgeon wants to do the first knee mid-March and wants 3 months between the bariatric and that surgery. I’m sweating bullets here... Rant over. Luckily, I, too, only have to do a two day prep, an endoscopy and a gallbladder ultrasound. -

Anyone scheduled for December yet?
Linda Cooney replied to kx2ax5's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I’m hoping for November, but may be December. Dr office forgot to tell me the insurance company might not approve me if I gained as much as a pound during my nutrition period. Today was my last appointment and I must have walked in with Angels, because I’m 1/2 pound down from where I started. Now to insurance. Letting hope float and putting choke collars on those Angels. -

I’m hoping for a November date; have my last nutrition appt today. Then just breathe while the insurance company takes their time. I’m work in an education law office, so hoping to hit that thanksgiving break. Not nervous about surgery, but with about 8 previous abdominal surgeries, a bit nervous about scar tissue. November is my birthday, hoping to gift myself with a brighter, chronic-pain free future. -
Not legal in my state though we recognize that it has medical benefits. My chiropractor carries the creams. It helps

Afraid that I'm going to let fear of pain prevent me from going through with surgery
Linda Cooney replied to Oct517's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am a 13 major surgery survivor and hope to have my sleeve surgery at the end of October 2018. I will follow that up by having both knees replaced. I danced, for years, and have fought weight all my life. My surgery is to get the weight off my knees and back. It’s too late for me not to have to have the knees replaced but I’ll bet it’s not too late for you to change the course of your future. Do not let fear of the unknown hold you a prisoner for one second longer than it needs to.
