    Syntrax Nectar separating!

I know this thread is old, but I was having the same clumping problem. Finally realized that it was the humidity where I live, so I started keeping Nectar in the fridge and that fixed it. Hope that helps.

    4 hour flight Post app

I’m flying from New Orleans via Houston to San Diego and it’s about 7 hours total travel time. I booked economy on the way there and first on the way back. It was about $600, but I decided it was worth it not to be cramped for so long.
  3. I’m doing the same thing and you’ll be absolutely fine! No need to be nervous. These types of procedures are routine these days.
  4. Make sure the physician is board certified in bariatric surgery (there is an online directory in every state so you can look him up). Ideally, you want a surgeon who did fellowship in the field and specializes in the type of procedure you want to undergo, ie VSG, bypass, etc.

    Hospital bag

I know everyone says to bring a sports bra, I guess because that's more comfortable, but pulling a sports bra over your head and shoulders can be like wrestling with an enormous rubber band. Personally, I'm going with an easy front clasp bra

    July Sleeve

I'm scheduled July 11 and quit both coffee/caffeine in advance of the official clear liquid diet that starts next week. I had headaches from caffeine withdrawal for half the week, but the worst is over. Definitely not as bad as giving up wine a month ago!

    Ready to workout.

My instructions are not to lift over 10lbs for first 6 weeks. After that, I guess just start low and see how you feel.

    Eating...not really...

Try adding a packet of high protein bone broth to soups/stews to add protein to savory meals.
  9. This reminds me of the story about a hospital bill for giving birth where the husband was charged $20 to hold HIS baby 😂
  10. There are multiple studies (below) that show SSRIs like zoloft are temporarily less effective following bariatric surgery. This is because the acid in your stomach, which normally helps break down the medication so your intestine can absorb it properly, is healing (and your diet is geared to avoid acid production). Same problem with other anti-depressants that are time released (XL, XR, etc.) I’d talk to your psychiatrist about the issues and see if they can put you on a different formulation. Also, if your pill is crushable, I would try taking it that way so more of it breaks down in your stomach. Hope this helps. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4026560/
  11. No pre-op diet here, just liquid diet 72 hours before surgery. I was told it’s bc I have a relatively low BMI (32).

    Protein Intake

Don’t see why not, but you’ll definitely be chewing forever. Just saw this alternative to jello that and debating it myself.
  13. Not even kidding, hire a highly recommended dog walker/pet sitter to take you home. Best $20 you'll spend!
  14. Most psychiatrists will admit that they don't know how medications that cause weight loss/gain do so, i.e. affect your metabolism or whether it has something to do with dopamine/serotonin, etc. This is a handy chart I found online that I always bring when I go to the shrink so she doesn't put me on something that's going to undo all my hardwork. There is also a blood test now they can do to find out which medications work on you and which won't, no matter what the dosage. I just took the test and am waiting for the results, so I'll probably be back in her office with this chart sometime soon Hope this helps.
  15. I've been really surprised that these threads don't really discuss psychological counseling or psychiatric/prescription drug treatment post-surgery. Many people (including myself) have struggled with depression prior to surgery, so mood disorders are par for the course afterward. Setting aside the hormonal changes, for a lot of people, eating used to be a primary source of pleasure, so it can feel like a deprivation afterward. There is no shame in consulting with a mental health professional to help us through the mental and physical recovery post-op. This is a big transition, so take care of yourself!

    July surgery

July 11 w/ Dr. Hector Perez in TJ. Counting down the days!

3 days post op, starting BMI 28.1

I know it's been several years since you wrote this, but I am scheduled with Dr. Perez next month and was wondering if you're still happy with the results?

    Surgery is July 12th

Are you getting VGS or SILS? I'm trying to get in with him for late July or August.
  19. I'm currently researching surgeons in Mexico for the SILS gastrectomy. Were all of you happy with him?
