    Post-Op Diet

I talked to the nutritionist yesterday and she said that it was to keep people from eating things that they shouldn't. I can have two ounces of pureed Protein at each meal and one ounce of pureed fruit for two meals and one ounce of veg at the third meal. Tomorrow the protein goes up an ounce and I can have a veg and a fruit at each meal.....: ) I go to dr Thursday I can't wait to see if I have lost any since surgery.:cursing:
  3. My doctor has changed his post-op diet from two weeks of liquids with days 3-14 eating pureed meat, fruit and veg. Then moving on to reg. food. I have read so much about the two week liquid diet after being banded that I am afraid to eat....can anyone share their experience with me....
  4. I had my surgery on Oct. 13th . Things went pretty much as expected. We arrived at the hospital at 8am for my 10 am surgery. I didn't get into surgery until 10:44...i saw the clock on the wall. I didn't have any problems during the rest of my stay except I was very sleepy. By the time I got home at 4:30...I live an hour away from the hospital and we had to make two stops on the way home...one for water and the other for my meds. I was having some bad gas pains. I had to walk around in the parking lot of the CVS for awhile. I was having alot of pain by the time I got home and was uncomfortable for pretty much the entire day. I slept on the couch so I could prop up. Today I am sore but do not have the pain that I had yesterday in my chest:smile:. Hopefully It will not return. I have been tolerating jello and broth very well. I never thought that broth would be so good.
  5. :mellow:I am on the 15th day of my pre op diet. I am doing Optifast and will be until my surgery which is in 11 days!! I have lost 11 lbs. so far. It has not been so bad. I have wanted to eat but have not been hungry....stay tuned!!
  6. Just found your thread...i just wanted to say that I am so proud of you!! Keep up the good work!!:tongue2:

    Pre-op diet

I am now on day five. Yesterday ended up being very hard for me mentally. I was just ill. My husband thinks its because i haven't eat for four days but I think it's just frustration at myself for letting food control my emotions and my life for so long. Well a better day is ahead.....:bored: Only 21 days until my surgery!!:smile2:
  9. How is everyone doing on the pre-op diet? I have to do Optifast for just over three weeks before my surgery on 10/13. It so far hasn't been too bad....22 days to go!!
  10. I think that they are too sweet for my taste buds...
  11. I have a date of October 13. I have to go on Optifast for 4 weeks prior....the length of time is because of my high BMI. I start the pre-op diet on Sept. 18th. Has anyone had Optifast and if so how does it taste??:blushing:

I just went to my family dr for the phys supervised diet. I also got him to recommend a dr for the psyc exam. It went pretty fast. I went to the clinic where i am having my surgery for the nutritionist visit. I have only lost about 6 pounds during the last 5 months.. I have had too many last dinners LOL!! I have an appt with my surgeon on 9/17 and I am following a low carb, low fat diet until then. I will then be put on a medically supervised liquid diet for 4 weeks (due to high BMI) before surgery. I hope to lose about 10 pds before the liquid diet... I have bc/bs through empire....I was approved in three days once paperwork was sent .... Good luck on your journey and you will be so surprised just how fast the process goes once you get started!!

Is it the surgeons office that is requiring the 6 mth diet or your insurance....my insurance use to require it but now it doesn't....I found out during my 5th month of my phys supervised diet.. but now all is well I have my surgery date of 10/13/2009. I don't really have a problem with having to wait now that it is almost over. I really needed the time to make sure that i was ready to make major changes in my life. Good luck!!
