These people who say this where probably never in the military. why do you think its never discussed by vets, its easy to sit in a chair with potato chips and a beer an watch sean hannity glorify war , picture yourself looking through the scope of your sniper rifle, pulling the trigger, having it become so upclose and personal you can see the expression on your enemys face when he takes his last breath. (enemy or not how would it make you feel knowing you killed a human being,21 years old scarred for the rest of your life, not a day goes by you dont think about it and there is no medicine that can help you get over this big empty void you carry for life!!! thats glory. The shame of it is we have alot, thousands of hardened, ruined souls who no matter how they act when in the presence of other people, will always feel that void that i can assure you the average human being god willing, will never get to experience that feeling. I assure you it isny glorious at all! Sorry i dont know where this all came from, not for lapband, please dont glorify war having to kill or maime, or break up families unless its "ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY"

I keep remembering things after i post so here goes again. I have my own plumbing company, i drive a 1998 suburu impreza,2000 honda accord, so im not wasting my healthcare money on big cars,(just off topic for a minute while i remember, speaking of people wanting what they cant have,or afford. You wouldnt believe the people who buy big houses but cant afford to furnish them, i see it every day empty bedrooms,no furniture in game rooms but they have the big house and cars).I agree with bjean your stats are for people with healthcare you (clearly republican), thats probably not fair im sure i sound clearly democrat but im not (indepedent) use polls figuring nobody will call you on it. How can rasmuesson and cnn polls be so far apart, you guys seem to swear by rasmuesson.

I fogot, I called into a local radio station, the subject was healthcare. I told the host I couldnt understand why the people of the "Tea party were protesting socialized healthcare", most, majority look to be seniors and i would assume on medicare. He told me they didnt want medicare affected(ie sean hannity/glenn beck, scaremongers). I told him "so socialized medicine is ok for them but nobody else should have it. Seems hypocritical to me.You listen to hannity and beck(crying so dramaticaly) they will have you believe the world is going to end tomorrow, we need to bomb everybody.I know none of you listen to or watch rush, hannity, beck but you all say the same things they say. My buddy and I argue about this and I tease him about the rush thing, he says he doesnt listen to these guys but when i use his truck the only channel programed on radio is 104.7(rush, hannity, beck, savage).Im not putting anyone down for it, i listen once in awhile, but just admit you get your info there no matter how skued it might be.

I get coffee every morning before work. The guy who works there(7-11) is a republican, we discuss politics alot. First off he told me "he aint voting for no bleepin bleep(you get the picture). Then hes mad at the credit card companies and doesnt pay the cards because they raise his interst rates. He also says he doesnt want healthcare(now in present state, pre-reform)because in America we cant be denied medical coverage(going back to pattys response). I explained to him if he has major medical issues he could end up paying health bill forever, he told me he doesnt pay the bills anyway.Who do you think pays them, wonder why healthcare is so expensive and keeps going up! He also said "soldiers should have to go to war, you cant join the military just to have college paid for". Theirs your moral party! he blames the world for the problems created by himself.

Just banded with EXTREME nausea
loserbob replied to Bree99's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I havent had surgery yet, actually on March 3rd. I was reading my manual today and it said to stay on clear liquids for a few days because sugar and colored drinks have that effect, its not uncommon. Thats why they transition you from clear to regular but everyone is different and if your feeling nausea to try clears until you can tolerate more, hope this helps. -
It was btrieger (Body Bug Groupy). The picture you are showing from september I believe, was that not the one hannity used which were old pictures added to (the new ones with only a couple hundred protesting) for which he publicly apologized for? If thats not the picture it wouldnt surprise me if it was doctored. The "anti Christ " had his chance but never mentioned hannity or the incident, its funny neither did rush! Wow im reading my post,Isound like an angry, angry person but im really not and im not out to change anybodies opinion or put anyone down fror what they believe. Thats what makes this the best country in the world. Now "cant we all just get along" on the nonpolitical part of lapband because i appreciate everyones opinions and you all have helped me decide to do lapband. Dems, Rep. Ind.

Sorry , I wrote the long story before this one. I meant to agree with Paigey and Cleos mom(whom I believe is from Greensburg Pennsylvania as am I) I think i was disagreeing with Pattygreen and like i said I cant remember the guys name. Im surprised Rush didnt say "BARAK HUSSEIN OBAMA" caused this by seeding the atmoshere over Haiti!

First of all thankyou Paigey, I totally agree with your nov. 8 quote. I am a self employed plumber going into my 5th year of business. I was working day and night to pay my $1,800.oo a month healthcare bill so my wife could stay home and raise the kids properly(according to the republicans,I do agree though). I kind of jumped ahead here. In 2005 when I started my business my healthcare cost was around $1,100.oo month, over the last 4 years it crept up to $1,800.00 a month (Highmark). They sent me a letter last February 09 informing me it wold go up 8.5 to 31%. This would have put me out of business, I was already waking up in middle of night with knots in my stomach worrying would I have the money for healthcare. I was late i month Nov 07) I was told if i had payment on Dec. 1st It would be ok 1 time. Well i got a bill for Dec. for $3,600.00 and my insurance would be void until i pay, keep in mind I already paid $1,800.00 a week before i recieved the notice.Beig close to Christmas didnt help either(thanks to great family i made it through ok. Now my wife and I decided she would have to work. She found a job which pays benefits but nou she drives 30 mile each way and leaves the house at 6:00 and gets home between 7:oo-8:00 every night. In turn I cant work as late I have to be home to get the kids from school(i can make more on a good day than she makes in a week. 3 nights a week we pay for 2 kids daycare $170.00 a week but i still have to get them by 6:00. My point after this long article is most people who are against healthcare reform/public option probably work for an employer who covers at least most benefits. Catherine and I cant rmember the guy but you must be sean hannity/fox watchers. I dont know where you get your poll stats from but about majority on healthcare remember Obama did get voted in by major landslide(these facts are proven) one main reason was healthcare. So i believe majority want something done. This is just my opinion but any dr. who doesnt want reform is only concerned about their money not the well being of people who allow them to make the money they make.In Pennsylvania where i live i had to go through chamber of commerce(Westmoreland County)to get highmark. I couldnt choose because my pre-existing conditions, reform will allow me to choose cheaper plan with other companies. Its funny the Pharmaceutical and healthcare companys are against it,Why, Im a plumber, i dont want other plumbing companys in my area! Sorry this is so long, its a sore subject for me (someone not sitting on my butt but cant seem to get ahead) Please dont take any of my political views to heart, Im a registered independent who would probably agree and disagree on alot of other issues, i dont mean to p!?ss anyone off this is my opinion on healthcare, thanks.

Hi, my name is Bob. Im from Pittsburgh also (actually Greensburg). Im having lapband done at Magee, no date but approved. Im writing to tell you 2 of my friends had Dr. Urbandt. One about 7-8 years ago and 1 alomost a year. I just talked to my friend who had it done last Dec. today(she had bypass). She lost 138# and had no problems to date, she is off meds,c-pap. She loves Dr. Urbandt, she said she had no pain at all after and was back to work(office job) 5 days later.Bypass alot more extreme than band. Just wanted to let you know about positive experience of my friends so maybe it will relieve some anxiety, I know im nervous about mine. Hope this helps and good luck.

Hi, Ive been reading and learning alot on here. Lapbandtalk has been very helpful to me over the last 2 years(you probably dont know me because I dont write much) im not the best with computers. I completed all my test requirements, my drs. office called to tell me that i was app0roved by insurance but they reviewed my ekg and it was borderline abnormal and requested me to see cardiologist. Well this scared the sh@& out of me so I called my family dr. (he did my ekg) and he said my ekg was normal. My mother-inlaw is a nurse, she read the script and said it wasnt anything serious they are a very good hospital and want to take all necessary precautions. The reason i wrote all this is because i was on the fence about the surgery and this solidified my decision to do this. Its a little, no alot scary when your 38 years old and told you should see a cardiologist. When i met my lap dr., she told me they usually dont get people as healthy as me, so this is kind of a slap in the face so-to speak. I just want to thank everyone because when i question myself about surgery i come to this sight and it reassures me this is the right decision. Sorry its so long this is 2 years worth of thinking. thanks again and good luck to everyone. (Dr. Anita Courcoulis, Magee Hospital in Pittsburgh Pa)

I used to wear them in wrestlig years ago. I was told they can be dangerous because when you sweat your body is cooling itself. When you wear them your sweat doesnt evaporate and can cause heat stroke. Dont know if its true but seems logical. And as someone said I believe your losing water weigh. We did this to cut weight quickly before weigh-ins. I would check with dr. Hope this helps.

UPDATE: I got my second opinion today...
loserbob replied to Cleo's Mom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Cleo's mom, my name is bob . Im from Greensburg Pa, I am wondering if your Dr. is from Westmoreland hospital? I started my program there and found out the drs. only did 22 lap surgeries(this was back in October) so I decided to quit program and go to Mgee. Im in my sixth month and am very happy with them. When i told my dr.(Corcoulis)about westmoreland's program she said they do at least 22 surgeries in a week, that they have performed thousands. I knew this is where i wanted to have mine done. If your not from Greensburg(Westmoreland hospital) I apologize for this long story but it just sounded familiar. Good luck -
Anyone else starting month 3 of the 6 month diet?
loserbob replied to Band_Groupie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Im starting my 3rd month. Im from greensburg pa. and have decided to go with Magee hospital in Pittsburgh. Im not frustrated yet, time seems to be going fast for me. Probably because Im so nervous about all of this. December was my 2nd month and I missed my scheduled meeting so Im not sure what this program consists of, they let me weigh in on the 30th and had me read a couple brochures. I thought for sure I gained weight from my first meeting which would have resulted in a denial from insurance but I actually lost 8 lbs. so now Im excited about next weigh-in. Sorry this is alot about nothing but theres not much excitement yet. Im still not sure Im going to go through with it, I figure I will get the 6-month thing out of the way and I believe I have 1 year possibley 2 to make a decision(Highmark,Keystone Blue). Im just curious where you are going for surgery? -
Hi Im from Greensburg Pa . Im writing because Im reading these stories about dr.s recemending RNY. Im started in the program at Magee hospital in Pittsburgh. I've attended meetings at three major hospitals(Pittsburgh hospitals are some of the best in the country). At each hospital I've asked which was better and more effective, and got the same answer at each one, it's your choice, they are both similarly effective you lose faster with RNY. The results are similar over an average 3 year period. when i went to a smaller suburban hospital where the majority of procedures was RNY(only 22 lapband) they seemed to push RNY. If you arent comfortabe with RNY you should at least get second opinion. These are major surgeries and should be researched. I would not just jump into something because of what might be one dr.s preference. Iprobaby could have shortened this by saying, Do research, second opinion, what makes you more comfortabe. Loserbob

hi. Shira Im from Pittsburgh area, now Greensburg. Just wondering if, and where you had or are having your surgery. Ive started the program at Magee Hospital. Just curious, not to many people from Pittsburgh area on this sight. Ive researched the doctors at three major hospitals and all seemed very experienced. Just felt more comfortable at Magee. Curious to hear your point of view or experiences. Steelers going all the way. Loserbob.

my name is bob, I started researching LB about a year ago. I do not have it yet but am considering it. The reason im writing is because my dr. told me i can drink soda but he does not recomend it because its high in sugar and diet is not good for you either. As far as the band goes there is no problem other than the fact that you need nutrition because you eat alot less and soda has no nutritonal value. this may vary by dr. I have attended seminars at three pittsburgh hospitals adn read on this sght for about a year now

I have 2 friends who had bypass at West Penn, no problems. Great, structured aftercare. was recomended to see Dr. Ramanathan at Mgee by another friend. Went to class at AGH, very impressed with Dr. Colella and Dr. Uchal, they work as a team and are only hospital in area handling high risk patients. I have not had surgery but am considering lap-band. Anyone doing bypass check out Dr. Pupkovich at Barix Clinic in Langhorne Pa. very very very qualified. It would be worth the drive for a serious operation like bypass. I dont claim to know alot about either procedure but i have been reading this and alot of sites. All i can tell you is to do alot of research and pick a dr. who has alot of experience with lap band. The more experienced the dr. the less chance of problems. Dr. Colella did Fred Honsberger"s bypass.
