Just emailed my nutritionist. Hopefully she has a good answer for me! The reason I began to question it is because I read a lot of posts saying coffee was allowed by their surgical team. And it confused me a bit. I also read some people were “pre-op” and eating whatever they wanted until the day of the surgery while I’m on a liquid diet. Not questioning the liquid diet because I know exactly why I am on it- “to shrink the liver”. Wondering how some people don’t have to do a liquid diet before.

Thank you! I figured it has something to do with acidity and stomach erosion but wouldn’t decaffeinated coffee have the same effect? I just emailed my nutritionist.

Thank you! I just contacted my nutritionist. I just want her to explain that to me. At first I thought I’d be able to pull through. But it’s proving to be a hard task.

41 lbs pre-op wow!!! Way to go. I just completed a week of liquid diet and only lost 9 lbs. surgery is August 6. Also looking to find August surgery friends. Wondering how to make a group. Definitely hear you on the murdering someone in exchange for tacos. Ugh still craving so many foods. But starting to accept and appreciate the veggies I’m eating that I never loved before.

Hey all! I started my liquid diet on Monday and I’m down 9 pounds!! However, ever since “eating healthy” I feel like my body has gone into like a shock which I’m sure is normal. I get headaches every day (even wake up with them) and am not sleeping as long as I used to. I know this could be from lack of caffeine and change of diet. I am trying to avoid taking ibuprofen (motrin) as my surgery is next week (8/6). Any suggestions for headaches?
-
Yes. I thought the same. Because when I went for an endoscopy they asked me about ibuprofen Intake. 10 days to surgery?!? Me too!!! What is your date? I am August 6. We should definitely chat. Are you nervous/excited? I am both!

Ladies and gents. I tried Boost chocolate sensation and I love it. She gave me a free sample and I’m just going to stick to it. No experiments here. I’m not the experimental type.

Yeah i dont understand either. Applesauce isn’t an option she gives. Only shake and vegetables. Liquids- water, decaf coffee/tea, sugar free popsicles, sugar free jello. I uploaded the paper. I’m scared To even suggest applesauce.

I just went to go see her to get some samples of other shakes. She suggested that I take instant coffee and mix it into the shakes since I love coffee. She said it'll kill the taste of the shake.

Nutritionist told me that Isopure is 0 carbs and I can't drink it. I inquired about it because I wanted something I can drink like a juice instead of a nasty shake. She told me no-go.

Does anybody have a picture of the nutrition facts on premier protein? Because I need to see how many carbs are in it. Just because it says 1g isn’t true because that’s the “Net”.
-
Thank you all! I wonder why she doesn’t have premier protein as an option. She wrote 20g of protein and 20g of carbohydrates. I will ask if that’s an okay option. I want to gag every time I drink the slimfast. Not gonna happen.

Annoyed by doctors office staff
E G replied to KennyJenks's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am also a teacher Kenny! I made sure to tell my surgeon when I went for first consultation that I needed surgery in August the latest. They said as long as I got my tests done (sleep apnea, pulmonary clearance, endoscopy) by the end of June I should be okay. They also set a tentative date for me so that my surgeon doesn’t get booked. Still waiting for my actual approval in writing but on Friday they said it should take a day at this stage. They told me to go ahead and start my liquid diet today anyway and here I am. I wanted to give myself at least 2-3 solid weeks for recovery because it varies for everybody. -
Starting my liquid diet today. Woke up super late (on summer vacation since I am a teacher). Surgery is scheduled for August 6. Ended up ordering slim fast 20g of protein bottles. How often does everyone drink their shakes (how many hours)? And is anybody else starting their liquid diet today and has surgery beginning of August? Would like to make a group of people who are relating on a day to day basis

Hi, I have Emblem Health GHI. I'm on my last month of Doctor visits this month, just had a sleep apnea test last night for pulmonary clearance (my appt to the pulmonologist is June 25 to go over the sleep apnea results). I have an endoscopy June 17th. Basically, I should be done with all my paperwork and appointments by the end of June. My tentative surgery date is beginning of August. How long does it take with GHI to get approval for surgery once all appointments are done?
