    Feeling BLAH......

Hey, I've been in a rut too. I haven't lost any weight in 4 weeks. I've lost inches because I've been working out though. I'm down 35 lbs and 16 inches since May 28th. I've had two fills and will be getting my third in a week. I have just been so hungry. My portions are huge. I know that's why I'm not losing. I'm really struggling with food right now. I've cut out basically all junk food but I eat way too much during a meal. You're doing a good job by drinking only water! I've cut out all soda too and I'm surprised to say I don't miss it. Hopefully the walking will help jump start your weight loss again!! Good luck! Marianne
  2. Hi, I am really struggling right now too. And actually I just ate a 6in sub the other day too. I was banded May 28th and have had 2 fills so far. I have felt so aweful the past few weeks because I have been eating so much! Waaay more than I should be eating. I've lost 35 lbs and have maintained that since my last fill but I havent lost anything in 3 weeks. I workout 4 times a week for at least an hour. I know this is considered bandster hell but I feel like such a failure because I;m eating so much. And I'm fully aware that I'm eating so much. I still havent had any pop since surgury but my proportions are slowly getting larger and larger. I'm scheduled for my third fill on the 11th and I'm really looking forward to that. I hope it helps. Maybe we can be like each others cheerleaders :wink2: I hope we keep in touch, I could use the support. I hope you keep losing the weight, my thoughts are with you!

AFRAID TO LOSE WEIGHT DURING 6 mo. DIET!

I really shouldn't be saying this but when I was doing my 6 month diet my nurse very discreetly told me not to try real hard on the diet. Not in those words, more discreetly...but still. So I'd take the advice from above and chill out for a little during the "diet". If you lose a lot of weight your insurance will be like wow you dont need the lap band if you can do it yourself...Just my thoughts  Hope it helps and good luck!
  4. I recieved a card like that too. It's very nice to have so make sure you ask your doctor about it!

    First Time Visit

Hey I was banded May 28th. I've lost 38lbs so far. I'm in a similar situation. The past 2 weeks or so I feel like I've been eating more than I should. I just got my second fill on the 15th and I feel a little more restriction. But I've already noticed since my fill that I'm still eating too much. I've been doing a little reseach and looking at other posts regarding my "problem" and it seems like a really common thing. Alot of people eat larger meals up until their 3 or 4th fill. Its different for every person obviously but those were the common numbers I found when people really start feeling restriction. I get my 3rd fill on August 6th so I'm hoping Ill have more restriction then. I joined a gym last week and that has definitely helped me. I think my big problem is head hunger though. I think once I can tame that then I'll start eating the right portions. Hope that helps some! Just remember youre not alone! :scared2: Marianne

    Should I be scared????

Hey, I was banded on May 28th and I'm only 20. Don't be scared. This is a good thing! Getting banded at a younger age gives us an advantage because we dont have like 50 years of bad eating habits under our belts....Good luck!
  7. Um, the whole reason for lap band is to start a healthier lifestyle. Smoking marijuana doesnt seem like a healthy lifestyle, more like a stupid lifestyle. You were willing to give up your bad eating habits why not give up bad smoking habits??

    Second thoughts pre opt

You should really talk to your surgeon or the bariatric nurses at the hospital regarding your questions. If you're really not sure you can at least postpone your surgery date. I was a grazer all day too but I also ate too big of portions at meal times. I was banded May 28th and it has helped the grazing dramatically! I'm in a completely different mindset now and it's like something in my brain turned off and I don't feel like I need to munch all day long. The feeling of having control over my body and what I eat is the best feeling ever. I don't know you personally so I can't really say if you should do it or not. I know from my experience with grazing it has definitly helped me. I'm down 27lbs and I havent even had my first fill yet. Definitly talk to a nurse or surgeon about your concerns and do alot of thinking. This is a lifetime of change, not just fad diet. I wish you all the best with whatever choice you make! Marianne

    4 day post op

Hi, I was banded May 28th and after surgery I was given Lortab for pain. THat is one thing that most definitely helped me sleep at night and then I would pile 3 large pillows up to lay on. I used to be a tummy sleeper and it was hard to get used to sleeping on my back. I put one pillow under my lower back and the other two proped up under my head. After about 1.5 weeks I was able to lay on my right side comfortably hugging a pillow. Then about 3 weeks after surgery I was able to lay on my left side comfortably (my port is on the left). If it weren't for my Lortab though I would not have been able to sleep. Hope your sleeping gets better!

Hey, it's nice to hear from a fellow 20yr old! I was banded on May 28th and its the best decision ive ever made! I'm so happy now that I'm losing weight. Ive lost 28lbs so far and I'm getting my first fill next Tuesday. I hope everything goes well for you. It's hard work but sooooo worth it!
  11. Hey I'm from Duluth (living an hour east of the cities for school) and I was banded on May 28th. It's nice to hear from a fellow Minnesotan getting banded! I hope everything goes well and if you have any questions at all feel free to ask! Marianne
  12. oh yeah one more thing. i use the carnation instant breakfast and add a little spoonful of walmart whey protein to get more protein. Still delicious!
  13. Try Carnation Instant Breakfast. It's delicious and has good protein. Better than any protien shake Ive tried! They have chocolate malt, strawberry and french vanilla.

    Lifting a baby post-op

Hey, I was banded on May 28th and I have a 19 month old who weighs 30 lbs. I had stayed at my mom's house for 5 days post surgery and then my sister was able to come to my house for a week and a half to help me with my son. I read no lifting over 20 lbs for 6 weeks but my DR said around 2-3 weeks if I feel strong enough then its fine. Just pick him up when its necessary. Otherwise let him walk/crawl.

    Anyone near Superior?

mrspete, I was banded at St. Mary's on May 28. I just have a quick question for you, how long after you were banded did you get your first fill? I have my 2 week post-op appt this wednesday and I was under the influence that this appt included getting a fill but now Im not too sure. Thanks!
  17. hey, I was banded on the 28th too! I lost 14 lbs on the 2 week liquid diet pre-surgery and I have lost 10 lbs since surgery. So 24lbs altogether. I'm happy the numbers are going down but I really don't feel any difference in weight yet. I go in for my first post-op check up and fill next Wednesday. Thats also when I can start the pureed stage.
