Constipation issues after WLS
richiewho replied to Michele_DS's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
Michele, what is the dosage of a place you take daily? Is it 50 or 100? -
Machta, how are you getting in 650 calories a day? I’m 5 days post-op and between the 2 Premier Protein shakes and a cup of broth, I’m coming in at 365 calories.

Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies Check In Here!
richiewho replied to Ylime's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Welcome - You're so close!!! Hang in there - it will all be worth it!! Welcome! I'm sure this time will fly by and your surgery will be here before you know it. They didn’t give me a specific meal plan. The dietician just said he wanted me eating 3 meals and 2 snacks a day with an emphasis on breakfast being the largest meal and dinner the smallest. He used the analogy of a car full of gas at the begging of the day and near empty at night. It’s actually worked as I’m down about 4 lbs in 2 weeks but 40 lbs just seems like a lot. It seems as though many can get the sleeve without having to lose so much weight before the surgery but I’ll keep doing what the doctor asks. Did anyone else have to lose this much weight before their procedure? -
Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies Check In Here!
richiewho replied to Ylime's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I just got me gastric sleeve surgery date which is 9/12. I completed the 3 month nutrition program required by Blue Shield and managed to not lose a single pound. After meeting with the surgeon 2 weeks ago, he told me he wants me to lose 40 lbs before the surgery to make it safer (shrink the liver I’m guessing). He gave me 3 months to lose the weight so the clock is ticking. I also met with the dietician who was very nice and gave me some tips with dieting in order to lose the required weight before the surgery. I am definitely nervous but also excited. I have a friend who did this surgery about 18 months ago and now looks incredible. Glad I stumbled on this site to give and get support!
