Now that I’m post surgery and spent four days in the hospital. The one thing I discovered I cannot live without post surgery is a recliner. Omg whatever you do get one before surgery. We had to go buy one the night after I made it home. Unless you have one of those adjustable beds you can incline. But you HAVE to have a recliner to recover and sleep

Glad I didn’t have paper pants lol but could be handy. My surgeon luckily does his own pressure and leak check before he closed so we don’t have to wait or do the barium/GI thing. Amazing how everyone’s program is so different

So I’m 6days post. My tummy has massive bruising on left side biggest incesion and where the surgeon used a mash plug to ensure no opening. I have used the binder for four days I stopped using it as much and it feels like my stomach is tightening and I have even doing slow stretches. My right stomach has a bulge almost swollen looking bludgeon looks like an alien monster wants to push out of my stomach. Has anyone had this type of stuff happen and opinions good or bad on binders

I know it has been a long long time coming for you. I’m super happy you have your date. It’s right here almost at your door 🚪so you can walk right through it and be on the other side. Where all of us will be cheering you on through.

Before you buy check with your hospital and surgeons office see if they provide it in recovery like my hospital did. That away you don’t buy one when they supply it automatically.

My work wants me back the next day if I could. But I have read to many stories of people going back to soon and doing more harm than good. I’m taking a full six weeks off it’s not their health it’s mine.

Your very lucky to not had any of the usaual pain after post surgery. For me I’m again fresh out 6days but I’m not hungry nor do I get the full filling. Im on liquids and soup currently so it might change. But I would say if I get hungry hungry like you describe I would drink something give it 30 min if I’m still hungry that is when I would eat 1-2oz stop for 15 min eat 1-2 more oz to get your 4oz in then stop. make sure you are getting all your liquids and daily protein amounts as well.

I hate sweet taste of anything which is fine I’m not a huge sweet person. My downfall is savory. So I’m hoping that has calmed down. so what sweets I did like I probably will not at all like. Artificial sweetness is horrendous now.

Osu is that oklahoma state university hospital? they measure me during pre op for mine but when I was in recovery it was so tight I couldn’t breathe so they had to go bigger so I could breath and take the pressure off. So just beware of that hiccup and if it happens you know what to tell them

I have kinda adopted this use it to provide support if I’m getting in a car or walking. Then take it off the rest of the time

I would explore protein powders and premade drinks. They have clear ones Dymatize is personally my clear favorite. Priemer premade shakes are my milky favorite. As for powder I have yet to find one. Personally I think it’s just about the kickback they get for forcing participants to use certain ones when they require it. Sure I would try it if I didn’t like it I would get something of my choice and just make sure it meets their nutrition requirements

I’m exactly where you are, I lost a total of 28lbs pre op. Then upon check out weigh in because of all the fluids extended stay. I gained all but 6lbs back. I’m sitting at day 6 post I will not weigh in till tomorrow. But I get what you’re saying totally

Okay so I was in surgery June 20. Then realized I had not been released so tried drinking stuff first day was Icechips mainly I was afraid. I had no issues doing and swallowing them. Which has kinda worried me. I then started drinking Powerade zero 1-2 ounces at a time. I was not hungry nor did I get a ovefull feeling. I never seem to get hungry nor do I feel full. So today I started the better full liquid diet where you get to add in cream soup. So I had the tomato cream yesterday and cream of chicken. I was able to eat 4 oz in 30 min. Never feeling hungry nor full. Any thoughts or ideas? I hate to think it didn’t work? I stil have a lot of gas/burping and hoping it will go away soon. Anyone has had this happen to you? Thanks!’

Yay!!!! Your going to be great. I promise your first couple hours after will be rough but focus on the goal. You can do this.

I had diabetes and technically still do till I hit the 6months with no medication and controlled number of 90. I will tell you that I take nothing for blood sugar control and my number 90-95range since 2days post op. (Keeping in mind I’m baby post op at day 6days lol) it’s amazing to feel free of the medication. As for poo I had my first one this morning. It had zero form to it. Beware TMI coming. It was more like a small black/very dark brown pile of poo flakes. But I took 15ml of MOM last night since it had been I believe since the 18th I had one. I’m not sure what is ahead in the poo future but I can tell you right now I’m free.

Mine took 2days post op to sit at a 90-91 range. But it’s not moved one bit now

Wow that’s amazing you went home the same day. I would take it easy the nerve block will be wearing off soon.

The only time I guess I second guess myself was when I was waking up from surgery and omg pain I told them nvm changed my mind we didn’t need to go anywhere. The surgery nurse chuckled and told me sweetheart it’s a bit late now your on the other side. I was like pain meds please now

I would kill for a recliner. I had to take 40mg powder potassium before I left hospital omg horrendous
