I was there and could get it together. I would barely walk. Day three for me was so much better. I was able to walk and move around although swallowing was challenging. For the first two days I had extreme nausea so couldn’t take oral pills well, but when it clicked, it clicked. Tips: - try colder water (iced), room temp made me nauseous (still do); - try sleeping on your left side. Doing this helped me move gas - have hot tea; changed how I felt immediately I felt terrible and was in surprisingly worse shape than anyone expected in the hospital, but today is 10 days out and I feel pretty good. Good luck friend. @me if you need to chat.

SEPTEMBER 2018 SURGERIES AND SUCCESS
Spellbound replied to Frustr8's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
SOME TIPS THAT HELPED ME - Buy a dry brush. It’ll make you feel rejuvenated for your showers. - Get a squatty potty so your first poop won’t kill ya (definitely worked for me) - Protein drinks: taste a lot early on so you’ll know what you like - Your taste buds can change quickly. You may hate everything you once liked. Don’t overstock. - Sugarfree Pudding mixed with premier is AMAZING! 10lbs down from my surgery date and my Blood Pressure is down. Woot! Good luck friend! -
Not doing great in pre-op diet

@sleevemebaby7781 10 days isn’t too far out. Anytime you start will help. You could also try the liver cleansing tonic that’s been around for decades to help you out. Just know that you are doing this so your liver doesn’t get punctured. And before they risk puncturing you - they’ll just close you up. And I don’t know the costs for that. -
Not doing great in pre-op diet
Spellbound replied to sleevemebaby7781's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I’m 10 days out: my doc said my liver was so “tiny” and I actually loved the creativity I had in my preop diet. I did have big salads that I would eat, put aside and finish later. That was my portion control. I chose very flavorful protein rich fulls and played around with seasonings that were mostly approved: light adobo is a good one. I avoided carby veggies and fruits and enjoyed eggs and even bunless burgers with mayo and mustard 1 oz light cheese. I never really felt hungry. And I started each morning w/premier. Actually I look forward to going back to that diet. It was filling, tasty, and I lost 10 lbs of fat, not H2O. I should also add that I cut back carbs (bread, noodles, rice) in July and more so one month out from surgery. -
Congrats! I had mine a week before you and also had a horrible ordeal but it will get better. I promise promise. I’m 10 days out today and I am really feeling better. I kept in the front of my mind: “this too shall pass” and “I didn’t come this far to fall apart.” YOU WILL BE VICTOOOOORIOUS!

Any sleevers without complications over 5 yrs?
Spellbound posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi everyone, I keep reading horror stories about Sleevers past 5 or 10 years. I’m wondering if there are any of veteran sleevers with no revisions, major miserable side effects, issues, weight gain from expanded sleeve, that are still thriving and happy with their choice? I’m a week post op and everyone’s horror stories are causing me major regrets and fear.- 6 replies

Any sleevers without complications over 5 yrs?
Spellbound replied to Spellbound's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thank you for sharing. I am trying to get my hydration right. I understand people needing to share the difficult. Just wondered if that was a definite or if there were others with more success, like you. And actually, I’d never heard some of these really bad experiences until after my procedure (last week) so I was getting frightened, emailing my docs daily, and planning for the worst. I know I may have negative experiences too in the future that I’ll want to share for support - but was wondering if it turns out bad for everyone eventually. Thanks for sharing your experiences. Yes to the rules- at 10 days out I am trying to find the best ways to hydrate. QQ: Do you still eat really really small meals? -
Actually, do you premier count toward fluids? If so, doing better than I realize!

That sounds great. I’m not getting enough in - it’s very tedious and I’m lethargic. You’ve inspired me.

Can we please talk smell!?!?!
Spellbound replied to fmellnick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My dietician said this would happen and recommended I get a special brush for dry brushing. I got it online and she said it (1) helps with the smell and (2) helps purge the skin. -
*** September 2018 Sleevers ***
Spellbound replied to macadamia's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
11 days away and I messed up one day on my pre-diet due to a work outing. Eating with people is such a freaking challenge! But I’m up to the task. I have to get my one-liners together. One question - have you told anyone what you have going on? What do you tell your employees? -

I guess my comment doesn’t count because I haven’t gone through it yet. Maybe I’ll wish I did it sooner 6-12 months from September. -
*** September 2018 Sleevers ***

Congrats everyone on achieving this major milestone. I was approved on August 16th for September 19th. I will start the liver shrinking diet on Wednesday or Thursday of next week - I have a move planned on 8/31 so I’m thinking I’ll be too busy to think about what I’m missing. I’m concerned about the social implications of weight loss and nosey people (I’m a private person but body changes are not private)!!! But for now I’m proud of 6 months of preparation and getting to this step. -
Congrats! I was approved last week and scheduled for surgery on the 19th! I’m both excited and scared. I just signed up for class too. I’m stoked though.

40 something sleevers?
Spellbound replied to Letsgetgoing2018's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I just turned 40 and was approved last week. My op date is 9/19. I don’t have regrets about waiting. I love myself more, appreciate the health and wellness impact of my decision more, and I have a more realistic grasp on what I’m getting myself into. 10/20 years ago I was struggling with seeing myself (truly), self concept, and was given to toxic relationships. Now I’m more grounded. This means so much more now than it would have then. -
