I waited just because I was doing good to get protein shakes in much less anything else. I don’t see why it would hurt but be ready cause you are going to want to devour that thing and after about 2-3 bites your stomach will put a stop to it real quick!!!! So savor those minuscule bites!!!

Pleasedontjudgeme I was starving after about 5 or 6 days. I am now 16 days post op and am allowed to have soft food so I tried some cottage cheese which was delicious but after about 3 bites I was done for! I still crave pizza like no other. We just have to have the will power to overpower those wants because they aren’t needs. I can promise you this though- it does get easier! Hang in there darlin! -
When does the discomfort from the gas pains go away?!? That is the only thing that I feel like is holding me back. I still have soreness as I am only 3 days post op but these gas pains from taking small sips of anything are terrible! When do they stop?!?!
-
Rudedogg89 good luck!!!! That’s what mine was too! The first week will be rough and it will get easier right before you have the surgery lol Can you not have sugar free popsicles and Jell-O?
-
Which vitamins do you guys prefer as far as the chewy/chewable ones are concerned? I tried the bariactiv multi vitamin and a calcium and it was terrible!!! I think the flavors were berry maybe? They were samples so I’m not out anything but just wondering if any others tasted any better.

I was told to drink 5 protein shakes a day which was a bit much for me so I usually drank 3. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. In between If I got hungry I would sugar free popsicles

Back pain after surgery?
BrookeR replied to mschmeltz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you had the sleeve just done then what you are describing is probably gas from where they blew up your stomach up. The only thing to alleviate that is to walk walk walk! -

Oh I’m not going to break the diet. I fear having complications too much. But, at 10 days I can have puréed foods as well such as tuna and cottage cheese and I am stoked!!! I am just ready for savory foods. I’m tired of eating sweet stuff. I tried some broth last night which I liked prior to surgery but cannot do now. I have been drinking sugar free Gatorade for the electrolytes because I don’t want to get dehydrated -
When will it stop hurting to drink water?
BrookeR replied to Elle E's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I actually found some sugar free Gatorade at a gas station that helped me feel so much better today. I had zero energy and felt sluggish and thought I might be getting dehydrated. After drinking some Gatorade I felt much better -
Frustr8 please prepare yourself for the first 48-72 hours. They are brutal!!!!! I don’t want to scare you and you will do just fine but it is rough! Today I went to the grocery store and to take my kids to get some new outdoor toys and did well. The gas is for the most part gone but I am still sore but it gets better everyday. Good luck sweetie!

Pearldrop when was your surgery? I have been burping and passing more gas today so I am hoping that it’s on it’s way out!
-
How long did it take you all to be able to drink fluids or protein shake without it causing gas pain? I’m still very very sore in my belly and get terrible gas pains when I drink water and/or my protein shake. I am taking very small sips

So I had my sleeve about 8 hours ago and while in recovery they gave me a pain medication and it knocked me out and not in a good way. I was miserable up until about 2 hours ago. I still made myself get up and walk though cause the gas pains are terrible!!!! Walking is the only thing that has given some relief. I haven’t had any nausea but when I drinks sips of water the gas comes right back. And the soreness of my stomach is awful too. I will say the more I get up, the better it gets. I haven’t gotten any more pain medicine because of my experience earlier and hope note to. I am pretty hungry but scared to try any broths because of the water making my gas worse. This too shall pass and I am praying that this is the first day of the rest of my life! Good luck to all of you up and coming sleevers!!!

8 hrs post op - NOT what I expected
BrookeR replied to BrookeR's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks everyone! Day 3 today and I feel much better. The only thing really bothering me now is the soreness. My husband has been a trooper by taking care of the kids and me without complaining one time. I also bought some gas x to take and see if that helps along with the walking -
How long did it take you guys to be up and walking without major pain or discomfort? I am having surgery on Wednesday and plan to be back at work the following Monday.

liquid diet 5 days pre op
BrookeR replied to asmith475's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would definitely run it by your surgeon. Just in case. You don’t want them to start and then not be able to continue. You will probably be fine but for safety reason I would let them know. I’m sure it happens quite often -
I, too, have been cooking for my husband and kids. Some nights I could eat my helpings plus theirs!!! But I’m too chicken sh*t to risk complicating the surgery so I’ve powered through and you can too!!! It will give you a new meaning to the words ‘will power’ that’s for sure! I’m scheduled for June 6th. Good luck to you!

Thanks everyone! I guess I need to have a seat somewhere and stop getting ahead of myself. But solid food sounds soooo good right now!

The pre op diet is rough the first week. And honestly it has been harder for me these last few days rather than the first week. But you CAN do it sister! Temptations will always be around you. I still cook dinner for my husband and kids because I need to learn to eat to live instead of live to eat. We are addicts. We are going to have set backs. You recognized it and are moving on. Don’t beat yourself up about it. We are all here for you!!!

Do you have to be on an all liquid diet before the surgery?
