Hi there! My story starts like most people. I used to be skinny (125 on my wedding day). Then came babies, with babies came weight gain. I had my babies in quick succession and never lost the pregnancy weight in between. After babies I became a stay at home mom. Most of my time was spent chasing kids, cleaning their plates for them, and baking goodies (something I LOVE to do!). Before i knew it, I had hit 200 pounds, then 250, then 300, and finally I hit almost 350 pounds almost 40 years later. I decided enough was enough. I had gone from able to play with my kids, ride horses, dance, etc. to having diabetes, bad knees and on oxygen! This is not how I want to go through my old age! I had tried other things over the years and would lose 25-30 pounds here and there. Then gain it back. In January 2018, I brought up WLS to my primary doctor. She was very supportive and referred me to my surgeon. He and his office have been amazing! I have the best dietician who cheers me on! I have been working with them through all the pre-testing, monthly visits to satisfy insurance, etc. I now have my surgery date (June 18th!!) and just started the pre-op diet. It has been way easier than I thought it would be so far! I've been researching WLS for several years and recently found bariatricpal through a recommendation from my surgeon's office. I've spent most of my online time reading the forums and love how helpful everyone is. I am excited for this next adventure and journey to becoming a grandma who can keep up with her grandkids!
