I Want Chinese Food!
BeeCat replied to Stacey Nicole's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
lettuce wraps, stir fry. -
Rough night, not pain so much as having to pee every couple of hours. I’d need the nurse to come help me unhook 3 machines then use a walker to get to the bathroom. Then just when I’d get hooked back up with my Cpap and everything here comes a nurse or flobotamist or someone! I’m tired. I sure hope I can go home and rest today!

I’m doing great, have been walking the halls, ate a few tiny bites of soup, jello and apple juice. They gave me these teeny tiny spoons to use. I think I’ll go home tomorrow barring complications, how are you feeling. Pain meds are awesome.

Headed for the losers bench!!! Gods got me covered!

All went well! I am in my room playing on my phone. Have been walking the halls, ate a bit of soup and pudding. Drinking water fine, tiny tiny sips. A bit sore in my abs but thats expected, everything is good, hope to go home around mid afternoon tomorrow.

Annoyed by doctors office staff

My surgeons office gave me a tentative date saying that insurance would speed it up if it was scheduled sooner. Ok so lets tell them mid Aug. Next thing I know I'm getting a call to start my pre op diet the next day and surgery was scheduled 11 days after approval! -
I started in Jan. 2017 with a weight loss clinic, after a year with them I decided to have WLS and met with my surgeon on May 8. He and my PCP and my weight loss doc all agreed with my choosing bypass surgery. I got my pre-ops all done in June and got approval from my insurance 2 weeks ago. I have surgery scheduled for tomorrow! SO for me its been less than 2 months from the decision to have WLS to getting it done but thats because I had already been working on my weight loss with a doctor for a year. Be persistant and stand up for yourself, the best is yet to come.

Well, I'm having surgery tomorrow so this is the last day of my liquid diet and today I can only have clear liquids so I don't exactly fit your criteria but good luck. The liquid diet is a real challenge but each night when you've stuck to it you can remind yourself that you are succeeding for a healthier future and living your best life.

Good luck and easy healing.

Intro time: who's new to the group, who's pre-op, & who just recently made it to the loser's bench?
BeeCat replied to xoxococojay's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started by going to a weight loss center and getting on Optifast Feb. 2017. Stating weight was 287.7. I learned alot and lost about 50 lbs which was great but after a year I was so done with shakes and I realized that I needed to take it to the next level if I was ever going to really get the weight off. I went to one of the top WLS docs i my area in May and he agreed to getting me a bypass. My surgery is tomorrow!!! I am excited for the future, a bit nervous about the whole surgery and eager to be on the loser bench! I'm also really hungry!!! -

Relax, I know thats much easier said than done, once you've done all the pre op requirements then all you can do is sit back and wait. I was in the same boat, I had my first Dr visit May 8 and got through all my pre ops pretty quickly, They submittted my stuff to insurance and I was told it would be a couple of weeks to find out if I had approval. This was around the 4th of July holiday so I was expecting it all to be delayed, I was hoping to get at least a mid August surgery date, Instead I was surprised to get a call on the 13th telling me to start my pre-op diet the next day and be ready for surgery July 24th! Just make sure you have all your own "ducks in a row", get your vitamins, pre and post surgical diet stuff in order, make sure your POA's are updated and that you have everything you need for your hospital stay in order, That might help your anxiety. Good luck and keep us posted, -
Time to be honest!!!

Surgery tomorrow so today is clear liquid only, The last 10 days have been tough, I was supposed to be on shakes, SF Jello, SF popcicles, and broth but I cheated with dill pickels and a couple of small salads. I stayed under 700 calories everyday but at times the headaches got me and I caved, At least I lost 10 lbs so that was good. I am so ready to get through the surgery and onto the other side! -
Last day of my pre-op diet!!! Tomorrow is clear liquids only, no shakes, no cream soups, surgery 7/24. Don’t kid yourself, the pre-op is rough but there are ways to make it better. I just made a vanilla whey protein shake with banana flavoring and powdered peanut butter. DELICIOUS! Enjoy

Wow thats great!

Yes I'm ready, I'm eager to move forward with my life. I'm 51 yrs old and the last 8 years have been rough causing me to gain 100 lbs. I want the last half of my life to be different. I want to be healthy, I want to be active, I want to be mobile. You?
