My surgeon repaired a diaphragmatic hernia and an incisional hernia during my sleeve. I didn't know I had either one. It hasn't made my recovery any different from what I see people going through on here. I would have never known if he hadn't told me.

Happy 4th!!.. I'm So F**king Over Broth!!!
Lisa K. replied to BrooklynSleeved's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was sleeved July 5 and I've advanced to full liquids. I think you guys will feel so much better when you get to that stage. I never want to see another bowl of broth! Keep on pushing! -
So glad I'm not the only one being slammed with keto talk! Like I said, it's great for her and I'm happy she's doing it but the conversation is very stale at this point!

I've got one person in my office that has had similar responses. She is also large and is on the keto diet now. I'm happy for her that she likes doing the keto plan, but she's in her 60s and she has yoyo dieted for years. If it was that simple, we would not have the high obesity rates we have. I just let her blather on. She means well but is misguided in thinking I am interested in another diet plan like keto.

I'm happy for you! Mine was last Thursday and I'm already feeling much better. It's been a chore getting all my fluids down but it's a work in progress.

Has anyone used the vitamin patches???
Lisa K. replied to Dfox1984's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My surgeon and NUT recommended them. They said it is equally effective and more convenient. I used to take so many supplements, it's very freeing not to have to deal with all of those anymore. They'll check my vitamin levels at 6 months so only time will tell. -
I was told not to eat or drink anything after midnight. Most anesthesiologists or anesthetists won't put a patient under unless they have gone without food or drink for 6-8 hours. It prevents aspiration which can be serious. Good luck with your surgery!

I'm also very glad to have found this forum. Not to sound cliche, but you took a huge step to take care of yourself and get healthy. Statistically speaking, people have a 5% chance of losing weight by dieting and keeping it off. Bariatric surgery is becoming the recommended treatment for obesity. I'm five days post-op and I have struggled with the usual battles of nausea, getting adequate hydration, etc. but I still think I took a brave step and one that will help me in the future. Ignore the social media posts where everyone has lost tons of weight on some great program. People only post the rosiest things about themselves on social media (except here, which I love!). Don't let them be your yardstick.

This is a great post! I like the idea of sticking to the 3 walls. -
