    Appetite back with a vengance!

Hi Banjas, What protein powder or shakes are you using? A lot of the protein powders are high in Carbs and low in protein. Make sure you protein powder has 5 or less grams of Carbs and 30 grams of protein. This will reduce the spike with your insulin and keep you full longer. Also try primer protein water to help you with her hunger in between meals. I know you can do this. So say strong and keep pressing forward.

    June Sleevers Lets Get Excited!!!

I was sleeved on June 19th. My doctor gave me the My On-Q Pump for pain. I had absolutely no pain and my recovery is going great. I took the pump out on Saturday and I still don’t have any pain. So far I’ve lost 11 lbs in 6 days. I would recommend anyone having surgery to talk to there doctor about this pump.

    Ouch! Recovery sucks.

I’m sorry you’re having so many issues. I’m also 3 days post op and I feel great. My doctor use the My ON-Q numbing pump for my wounds, Ondansetron ODY 4MG and scopolamine 1.5 patch for the nausea. I know it’s to late for the pump, but see if your doctor can give you the meds for the nausea.
  6. I had my VSG this morning. During my procedure the surgeon put the ON-Q pump (this is not a narcotic pump). Because of this pump I have absolutely no pain in or around my surgical area. I’m walking a lot more than the other ladies that had their procedure this Morning with another. Since I’m waking some I have little to no gas. I would recommend all future patients talk to there doctor about this pump. It really helps. What is ON-Q ON-Q* is a postoperative, non-narcotic pain relief system designed to deliver local anesthetic to or near the surgical site through specially designed catheters – Providing patients days of targeted pain relief after surgery.

Thank you Lisa, I no actually how you feel. I was in that same situation. Wondering if this is the right for me. Doubt if I could do it. But I had to remember everybody’s experience is going to be different. That I needed it to do this for me.

    Pain Pump and Blood Thinners

The pain pump is MyOn-Q. According to their website it is more of a numbing medicine that only affects the surgical area. I suppose to help you get around sooner without the side effects of narcotic.
  13. Yesterday I did my pre-op labs and had my final appointment with my surgeon. During my visit he told me he was sending me home with a pain pump and 10 blood thinner shots. Is this normal? Has anyone went home with a pain pump and blood thinner?
  14. I had my finial visit with the Dietitian. She told me that my paperwork will be prepared today and give to Dr. McGill tomorrow for his approval. Once he sign off on my paperwork it will be submitted (by Friday) to Aetna for pre-certification. I'm a little worries because my final Weight 257/BMI is 41.5 with no Co-morbidities. During the 4 month process my weight did fluctuate. Feb. 1, 2018 - Weight 261 / BMI 42.21 (Visit with Surgeon Dr. Kevin McGill) Feb. 26, 2018 - Weight 261 / BMI 42.21 (1st Dietitian Visit) Mar. 22, 2018 - Weight 263 / BMI 42.4 (2nd Dietitian Visit) Apr. 23, 2018 - Weight 262 / BMI 42.3 (3rd Dietitian Visit) May 29, 2018 - Weight 257 / BMI 41.5 (Final Dietitian Visit) Does any know if Aetna will deny me because my weight fluctuated during the 90 day Multi-disciplinary surgical preparatory regimen?

I called Aetna this afternoon. They said as long as my final weigh in is the same or less than my first weigh in I will get approved.
